Here is a separate folder for the movies of the month. What do you think?

message 2: by Angie (new)

Angie I think this is a great idea!

Kayli 500 Hancock and Get Smart are movies I think should be movies of the month! So everyone needs to post their movies in now for August 2nd!

message 5: by Rachel (new)

Ok....right now I'm watching Stardust. I'll add that for now.

Angie So is this a movie we are all going to watch together? Or are we just all reviewing our own movie and then voting on the best review? Plus we'll have to determine about age. Maybe we should have an adult movie and a kids movie. I only say that because if we watch a movie together each month, some kids won't be able to watch R movies. Just a thought.

Meg (megvt) | 362 comments I just finished Hula Girls and it was brilliant.

I like the idea of watching a movie all together...I wouldn't mind seeing one again and then everyone commenting about it....when would be a good time...unfortunately I might not be back in town until mid August but maybe having a movie at the beginning of the month for pg-13 or less and one in the middle of the month that can be rated R. I've been in other groups where having a few books of the month works great. Or another idea is have a few movies of the month by the same director.

♥ Rachel♥ (i_got_a_jar_of_dirt) this is a really stupid movie compared 2 the other choices but i really liked wall-e...

message 11: by Kayli 500 (new)

Kayli 500 so did I. Since I created this event. We are just voting on our favorite movies and voting on people's reviews and movies. Does that help?

message 12: by Angie (new)

Angie Ed that is a great idea and i think that would be a lot of fun!

message 13: by Kayli 500 (new)

Kayli 500 sure

message 14: by Sherry (new)

Sherry I think Rob has a point. If the movies are new movies released in the theaters that may exclude a lot of people from the process.

Perhaps we could do it like a book club would with first nominating the movies and then after a certain period of time for nominations we could vote for however many we would like, two seems about right.
This would allow us to reach a concensus about what to watch and we'd hopefully all be on the same page.Folders could be created for each movie and then everyone would then comment and discuss to their hearts content once they have viewed the movie.

I like Angie's idea abouta pg-13 movie as one of the options.

Mimmi (onedrwumn) | 10 comments I like the pg-13 movie as an option as well. I like the book club feel of choosing a movie and discussing it, or a couple of movies we all vote to watch. So which ones are on the current chopping block? Maybe we can choose a category by month, say August could be international, like Under The Same Moon and Sept. could be horror...Saw 3..etc. Just putting my movie cents out there...lol

Alex DeLarge | 851 comments I agree that the film should be available on DVD so we can all watch without the huge expendature. I think the moderator should pick one film (maybe one each in different genres?) that we all can watch and review. My suggestion is that we should each write a review and be limited to 200 words (more or less).

Genres could include: classic, foreign, science-fiction, horror, suspense/thrillers, Film Noir, even favorite directors, actors, writers (often overlooked), etc...

Sounds good. Why don't we for August pick as a classic: Rear Window (heard some votes for this); Foreign: Pan's Labyrinth/Devil's Backbone; and maybe 21 as a new one released in July...Any other suggestions?

message 18: by Andrea (new)

Andrea (norareign) I'd second all of Ed's picks.

message 19: by Sherry (new)

Sherry Sounds good Ed.

Alex DeLarge | 851 comments REAR WINDOW would be an excellent pick! I like the Guillermo del Toro flicks too.

message 21: by Marie (new)

Marie (librarydaisygmailcom) I own Pan's Labyrinth and Devil's Backbone, so that makes it easy for me.
