Isn't this an adult novel? That's how Goodreads members are shelving it. I added it to both young adult and adult here since you put it in the childrens/ya solved folder, Melissa. I hope that's okay.
It is about a girl named Blue who lives with her father only. She goes on a camping trip with her teacher, among others. The teacher ends up getting hanged. Blue realizes that her father is in on this underground plot and when she figures it out, he disappears and leaves her on her own. The book is pretty thick. It is fiction, not fantasy or sci-fi.
