Me: BACK. FALSE ALARM.

history project thus far:
The second amendment to the constitution states, “A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.” Answers derived from the statement are as follows: any citizen of the United States of America have all right to purchase and keep any sort of weaponry, so long as they do not hold another citizen and/or attack him by the use of his weapon.

Above all, the second amendment to our constitution allows the People to have a method of self defense in case of emergency. For example, in the case of theft, or home invasion, one may bring out a weapon to defend oneself should the thief assault one.

Usako (bbmeltdown) | 1898 comments Me: The 2nd amendment is among the most contested amendments around. It's up to some interpretation. Wikipedia has a good list of the debate: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Second_A...

The "right to bear arms" strikes a chord. Does that mean any citizen has a right to carry an uzi?

If you want counterarguments, check out the national groups which are against bearing arms and want more gun control. Maybe look at the parental groups on gun control to keep it out of schools; that more than likely will be a touch more themely to your paper.

Me: Well, this is what I have so far:
However, as with the case of the recent shooting in Arizona, it brings to attention the problems with the second amendment. Those who abuse the power of having the ability to carry a gun have, and will continue, to harm and kill the innocent. The cons of the amendment are, despite the pros, fatal. Several thousand have died each year due to shootings of sociopaths and psychopaths; however, it is still part of the US Constitution.

~

I really could care less about this right now, so if it turns ramble-y, that's why.

message 19630: by Usako (new)

Usako (bbmeltdown) | 1898 comments Me: You'll be surprised at how many have guns illegally b/c they stole it or managed to cut corners around gun control rules. It isn't so much as the weapon, imho, as it is the wielder that's at fault. I have plenty of weapons in my kitchen (knives and so on) and yet I don't use them to kill. But that's been my stance. I think gun control doesn't hit the heart of the issue completely.

I like your first two sentences. You could add in additional cases like Columbine, JFK assassination, DC Sniper (lots to pick from). Cons, good. Then you could follow that up with many states have instituted gun control laws as a means to prevent these people from quicker access to guns. The American Rifle Association (they're pro-gun) says "quote 'em on their main stance" and counter with an anti-gun group :)

End paragraph can be there's many pros and cons. Pros, we can protect our nation. Cons, folks abuse it which leads to (maybe use a stat). end statement: continues to be a debate. I pick X side b/c of Y. What bout you? or something weird.

Meh. rambling.

Me: The good thing about this is that I met the minimum of two paragraphs, and this is for History, and my history teacher is really lenient about these things, so I don't have to have the whole debate up.

I see your point, though.

So I got Jamie (most of you should know of her and/or have spoken to her before) to start read Percy Jackson because she needed a book for Lit and Comp, and she hadn't finished one yet.

Her:

Me:
PI. WAIT. DOES IT HAVE TO BE A RATIONAL NUMBER?
'CAUSE IF NOT,

Her:
“WHO’S THAT POKE-“
“IT’S PIKACHU!”
“IT’S KOFFING!”
“GOD BLEEEEP”

HAHA. OH, AND BY THE WAY, I THOUGHT I SHOULD LET YOU KNOW THAT “THE LIGHTNING THIEF” IS PROBABLY ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS I’VE EVER READ. XD

Me:
GOOD. I'M TELING EVERYONE I GOT YOU TO READ IT.
THEN I'M TELLING THEM THAT YOU HAVEN'T FINISHED OOP.
THEN I'MMA SAY, "GAAAAAAWWWWD."
AND SEE WHAT THEY SA, 'CAUSE SERIOUSLY, IT'S GETTING RIDICULOUS.
OH, JOIN CAD. AND RP. PWWWWWEEEEEEEEAAAAAAASSSSEEEEEEE.

Her:
IT MAY BE RIDICULOUS, BUT IT DON’T MATTER.
THAT MADE NO SENSE.
ANYWAYS, I JUST SAW AN AD THAT SAID “IS YOUR WIFE A CRIMINAL?”
IT WAS SELLING CRIMINAL RECORDS OR SOMETHING O_______________O

Me
BAHAHA THAT'S PRICELESS.

CUZ WE HAVE A ONE PAGER COMING UP, AND I DOUBT I’LL BE ABLE TO FINISH HARRY POTTER THAT FAST -_______-

Me:
OI. YOU... >_< YEAH I DO.
