Bekah's Fun House!

I need your advice...

Network: Talk to friends, relatives, neighbors, etc. and see if they have some advice, information, know somebody in a company that interests you, etc.
Send out targeted resumes: Try to include keywords in your resume that match the job descriptions.
Practice for interviews: Read about the company, industry, job description and practice answers to the most asked questions - Tell me about yourself, etc. until you sound natural (but not rehearsed.)

When I had to filter resumes, my eyes would start to glaze over the long ones!

What I tell them both is that its just one day just like any other out of the year. And like any other day it has an ending. For holiday stress...write down whats bugging you..and then acknowledge that you do have to deal with it, but then SET BOUNDARIES, and stick to them!
Also, at those times when I feel depressed I start to try and think beyond that moment and catalog all the most important things that don't have to do with whatever is bringing me down. I have a loving family, I have my health, I have a place to live that is warm, I have food, I even have my books. Yes I got laid off, but its JUST a job. In the GRAND scheme of things, it was a moment in my journey, it wasnt my destination. It did not define me, and it ultimately was just a means to an end. I will find another. Someday. Try to look beyond the moment. I know that its been hard for me to do that, cuz sometimes you feel like you're stuck in quicksand...can't move above and it just keeps sucking and sucking, but you have to use your mind and focus.
And then, I believe there are just days you NEED to take to sit in it. No other choice, nothing will help, but you wake up the next day and go on. Its what we do.

LOL

What do you do when you are grumpy and get kind of snappy?

I hide in my room and talk to you guys and/or read. I try to not do that as I can handle it. Otherwise, I just keep repeating to myself to keep my mouth shut. If you have to be out doing chores is it possible for you to put your ipod on and enjoy some music while doing your chores? It might minimize the actual exposure to others that causes snappines.
Other than that, take your time before responding. Count to ten, close your eyes, take a deep breath, put a smile on your face, and then answer. Or just keep silent. Tell them, hey, I'm not in a good place right now, and I don't want to take that out on you, I love you, please give me a little extra space and understanding. Sometimes just saying that lets them know, ok Danielle is dealing with stuff, we understand, and our role in helping her right now is just to back off.
Are any of these doable?
PS: I have 2 cousins named Danielle and we call one and sometimes both of them Dani...sometimes I catch myself almost typing it out here to you too!

I did talk to my sister about what's going on with me. She gets it and loves me all the same. I just feel bad when I get snappy even if she knows why.
Hugs, Bekah! I appreciate your understanding, and I feel for you. You will find a job and you are NOT a loser!! My sister is in a similar boat as you (laid off). She's awesome, and so are you. Things will turnaround for you.
Hugs again!

I'm too worried about the dangers outside cats face, so I keep my cats indoors. So I just suck up the litterbox. I think I am just having the 'full plate syndrome'.

My sister doesn't mind doing dishes. Strangely, I don't tend to use the dishwasher b/c I have to load and unload it. I know that it's pretty bizarre, but I find it easier to just wash dishes and put them in the dishwater to dry. I know, I'm weird!

Cheryl, I put her on a joint diet, and it's backfired because now she can jump all over the place and refuses to stay off the kitchen counter and tables. I had to throw out a whole sauce pot full of gravy because she put her head in and was licking it on Thanksgiving.

1) How do you block someone on here (goodreads)
2) How long do you think is it appropriate to work at a new job before you log on to goodreads? :-) I'm about 40% serious!

And I thought it was a funny question.
You know if I can't actually be reading my book, I wanna be talkin about reading a book!
((addiction))

1)How to beat the B-day Blues?? my 25th b-day is tomorrow.. and i just feel so down..it wasnt a great yr emotionally :(, but my family just cant accept the that. B-days is always celebrated, and they take it personally if i feel blue!! !! im stressed out to the core!! **hides in the cocoon** "on families: we will always love them, but we dont always like them" Amen!
2)how to emotionally educate oneself about keeping emotions at bay. ex: i read an intense/deep plot and i feel gloomy or just out of sorts for a period of time!. (thats why i try to avoid emotional rides, but they are so addictive my fav kind books in fact). Its funny because i am in the medical field where i deal with emotions everyday!! but the books just get me!! WTF???
3) Got a Kindle for B-Day... i have no idea how to go about it.. maybe i will post a separate thread about it. Any insight is helpful!
((((((((((((((((((warm huggs))))))))))))))))

Maybe the books get to you so much because its a safe place for the emotional outlet you might have with your work..if only you could?
I understand your feelings and of course am here to chat whenever!

NOW. with your problem. well, its been almost a week since your posts, so i dont know if you already solved the prob. What i usually do is to first have a ballpark idea of what my career/training/position pays on a yearly basis, then look at the current position`s benefits and permanency potential, and position demand. with those aspects in mind i make an average of what i think is fair for me and the employer. The fact that you know the game and its rules is always safe because if they dont agree with ur number, then theres always room for negotiation. (i dont know on what field you are, but thats usually how is done in mine)
best of lucks with the Job hunting !!!!

I feel you, I'm kind of like that too. I like being in control emotionally, but sometimes my emotions just go haywire. I think it's a sign you need some me time. I totally freaked out on my 28th birthday. It was the worst one I've had so far. Strangely, birthdays in my 30s aren't as bad.
Hugs back at you!
Bekah, I go on Goodreads at work all the time. I just try to avoid suggestive photos and explicit threads. Unless their computer use policy forbids it, it's okay.
How to block someone. If you go to their profile, there is a very small tab to the right that says block member. It's very discreet.
Try these sites:
http://jobs.aol.com/salaries?sem=1&am...
http://www.calculatorweb.com/calculat...
I typed in budget salary calculator on Bing and they came up.
Ok, so here I go...
I'm unemployed, recently moved back home to the East Coast. Love it, love spending time with my family, espcially my new niece. However, because I like to spend money, I need to get back into the work force, and shock of schocks - I actually sorta miss working...
I know...stupid.
Anyway, I've started sending out resumes and such..so
