Nope. Good ol' Paolini must be stuck...or maybe he was dropped because he was taking so long?
I heard it was supposed to be September 2011, but I could be wrong. I heard it through the grape vine so I don't know how much merit or truth there is to that. I hope it is released much earlier! I don't think I can wait that long!
He is taking too long. that I already picture what will happen on the last book.
because of texting and computers, I think I for got to use a pen. OMG
I do hope he finished soon

This is driving me crazy... I'm stuck in limbo while I wait for 2 books to be finished... How long has he been writing this book for?
it seems that he takes a long time to write all of his books, i mean there was a big gap between the second and the third books
Well the last book came out in Sep 2008 so 2 years and 4 months ago. This 4th book and book 3 are suppose to be seen as one big book even though they came out at different times. Maybe it will be this year if not surely 2012.

Seriously.....I read all 3 books a 2nd time through so I could refresh my memory, I thought the new book would be out by now....REALLY!! COME ON, REALLY!! Are you writing a whole new series to go with the 4th book! Adventures of the 1st Eragon or something?

LOL!! First hello everyone! I’m new to the group and my first comment has to be here. I just finished reading the series for the first time, I know… I’m asking myself why I never picked it up before this lol but I really loved it!!! And now I find out Paolini has been taking this long to write the 4th one!! WOW!! Seriously?? You guys must be pissed b/c you have been waiting way longer than me and I’m totally anxious in reading it now!!

Hello Talia! Yep the list keeps growing and Chris needs to hurry up ^_^. Harpoon you sound like your ready to ring his neck lol. I wonder if CP is stuck and doesn't know how to end the book and/or how to tie up some loose ends. I wonder if he's going to kill off some main characters and is stuck on that.... there has to be something that's holding him back. I can't even imgaine how I would have felt if JK Rowling last book would have took this long!! 0_0 Just saying it makes me want to shiver :p
I am a member of a fan site for the Inheritance Cycle and CP sends out emails sometimes to the fans. The most recent one had a little tidbit of information regarding Book 4 so I figured I'd post it. It's not very informative but it gives some interesting clues. This is what he said:"Book Four is still in progress. As usual, each plot point seems to expand as I write it, but I think when you read it you'll agree that the story was worth the wait. I just finished a scene that included a stone table, a brazier filled with glowing coals, a man with impeccably groomed fingernails, and a black cloak.
Thank you for your patience as I finish this manuscript. I think of you often as I pen this tale."
So what do you guys think? Any ideas as to what these clues are referring to? I'm pretty confused...maybe it had to do with some kind of smith or metal worker like Horst?

Thanks for the update!! Well actually when it says groomed fingernails I think money... Higher class.... Especially with the era they r in. So I wonder if its someone in Galbatorix castle?! Than glowing coals??..... A stone table.... Hmmm is it someone in a cloak talking to one of our main characters while a fire is simmering??? Or someone being held captured by this guy?... Ok anyone else?? Lol
Yeah I thought someone who was a smith but in Galbatorix's service or something...I don't know it's so cryptic lol

OHHH what if this guy is something more powerful than a shade?! Something we haven't heard of yet... maybe even something ppl think is a myth...???

I'm kind of losing interest. I mean, I'm still looking forward to the release but not as hyped up as before. Hurry up CP! I hope it's worth it. Unlike Mockingjay.

I don't think he would do that. He's said many times in interviews and such that this fourth book is the last in the Eragon series. Although he has said he has other ideas for another book incorporating elements from the Eragon series, such as Alagaesia and it's inhabitants, but that's all. No fifth book. Just four, I believe.
But this wait is unbelievable! I'm currently thinking that an 8th Harry Potter book is going to come out before this, seriously.
ROFL!!! I have to agree with Miss LOL JK Rowling could have written book 8 even 9 by now :p Bur thanks Brittany I'm glad to hear he has mentioned the book 4 being the last one.
