ABANDONED. Looking for a book simular to Outlander by Diana Gaboldon

The book i'm looking for is very simular to Outlander by Diana Gaboldon, it actually follows the same story line, but I read it in middle school for my english class. it was about 300 pages and had a purple cover. the main character goes thru the stones and is transported back in time, theres talk about here being a witch and she has to break someone out of prison. you can see why i thought it would be Outlander, but its not, its very very simular, please help its been driving me crazy for 2 years.

It might be one of Karen Marie Moning's Highlander series.

It kind of sounds like a Lynn Kurland book to me...maybe When I Fall in Love? A lot of her books have similar plots, though, so I don't know which one it would be.
