Glad you liked Bingo, Miss. And yes I'm in Random Book List & FAC over at RRRC also, if its a book/author I want to read.Have you tried the Cover Hunt Challenge & Genre Juice Challenge here at SOS? They are only 2 or 3 books per month with only very light rules, so they should suit you.
I'm a 2C, I think. My problem is that my library stocks a limited range of PNR/UF books, and buying them when you live on the bottom of the world involves quite a bit of time and expense. Which is not to say I deny myself, heh. But it does mean I can't join challenges as quickly as I'd like. So longer ones suit me better.

The yen/dollar rate makes it good for book-buying right now. happy grin
There's lots of fun, longer challenges...have you seen Silver Wedding Anniversary?
Moss I've got the same problem with the Aus libraries, so I've adopted Judithe's solution too. Buy lots while the $ is good, though I know the NZ$ isn't as good at the moment.Good luck!
I think we all need a book money tree! If anyone finds some super secret seeds to grow one, lemme know too!Again, Welcome to the group, Moss! :D

Ooh checked out the Silver Wedding anniversary challenge. My one remaining brain cell had trouble understanding it, so I'm going to mull it over for a day or two and try to get my head around it. Looks do-able though, yay :)
ETA: Sandra, nice to meet a fellow antipodean!

We're always happy to help with questions! Hope the other brain cells aren't AWOL much longer...silly things running off and leaving you in a lurch ;D

heh. I've learnt to live with it. I hardly miss the rest anymore, they've been gone so long.

Moss, I'd be happy to help a kiwi, anytime. And congrats on whuppin the Pakistani's in the World cup. Awesome display. If in doubt, about Silver Wedding, just look how the rest of us picked our books and then we'd all be happy to answer Qs.
I'm kind of feeling challenge/bookswapping burnout. Missing the days before goodreads and paperbackswap when I just picked a book up because it looked good and read it. So I think I'm going to cut back on the challenges and PBS games for awhile. At least on challenges that involve a lot of rules. Just do somewhat open ended ones like "read 6 books you've owned more than a year in x amount of time" and ones like that. No cover themes, title themes, specific genre themes etc..,
I am also on series burn out. Why does every freakin book have to be part of a series that's best read in order?
Mary, reading should be fun. If the challenges are not fun for you, then cut back and just read what you want.Re - series burnout. It is frustrating that every book is in a series. I like to spread my series out. I usually read a series slowly over time so that I can savor the series. It is rare that I'll read a series all at once. I don't even mind if I read a book out of order, while some people freak out at that possibility. That's just me.
Do what's best for you.
I used to read them out of order and I'm thinking about going back to that for some series. Most mystery and romance series can be read out of order without ruining major plot points. They're usually just connected by related family members, friends, location etc.., I've found that it's mainly Urban Fantasy and paranormals that really need to be read in order. They're more likely to have a bad guy/bad group or whatever that carries through more than 1 book.
I'm 1C. I don't complete any challenges I'm afraid because I enter in too many. Right now I'm doing 12 challenges, not including the 4 I've chosen to do from this group. I look at when the challenge ends and what the challenge is about. If I can't fill up half of the challenge with books I've already listed for other chalenges I don't do it. I find that by doing them I have an easier time choosing which books to read next.
That's good Trish, we encourage cross challenging here. At the moment I have 23 challenges on the go listed in Challenges R Us and a good half a dozen more that didn't qualify for that.
So you see if we didn't cross challenge it wouldn't be possible. So go for it. LOL.
Isn't there a record out there for the one book that fit the most challenges? I think it was Laura Lulu, wasn't it?
I'm a 1 and a C. I just love challenges and they get me to read different genres. I also like making challenges
I join almost every challenge except the ones that I absolutely know I will not be able to complete (topics I'm just not interested in) - like the Antique Reading Road Show or the Psy-Changling challenge (I liked the first book but won't read the entire series in a year). I have a terrible time trying to link books to challenges upfront. I have too many books to check each one for a certain element/name/etc and usually fill in as I read something that fits a challenge. I like all forms of challenge as it provides some variety from the same thing every time. So I'm a 1ABCer!
I have too many books to check each one for a certain element/name/etc This is why I really love my BookPedia Mac App. I do not have all of my books listed here on GR, but I do have them all in that app. I can do a search on keyword, scroll through covers, search by author, genre, title, etc. It's a big time saver when searching for challenge books.

When I decide what I read next I mostly do it based on what I feel like reading at the moment, so lists are not good. Also, if i only have one month to complete them I feel pressured and if it's more I tend to forget about them.
I loved bingo because it felt like a real competition and you had your team-mates to rely on.:)
Also love the challenges where you receive recommendations, or FAC, because you only need to read one book to complete them. :) I guess it's all psychological as I end up reading a lot anyway.
Also liked the Random Book List Challenge (RRRC) where I got to choose from a list of books and we had one month to read it (the book with most reads wins!).
So basically, I'm good for all short challenges where you don't have to read a lot of books and where there are also some light rules to help me choose the book (like with FAC you have to read I book by that author, with Bingo we had to choose from a shelf).
:D
