Hey all, back in the late 70s, when I was a kid, I read a book about the pony express that shook me up and haunted me for a long time. Problem is that I can't remember its name and have only vague memories of the story at this point. I know the progtag. was a boy who rode in the pony express, and his pony/horse played a big role in the story -SPOILER ALERT-,...............eventually taking an arrow or a bullet to save the boy (and thereby breaking my young horse lovin heart). I'd love to find this book for my kid (and break his little heart; sigh). If this is ringing any bells, would love to hear from you.
