DHASG 2011 Mega-Challenge

I was wondering this exact same thing. Since they can I think I will have a good chance at attempting the third tier as well. =)
Also I've been reading a bunch of dangerous hero books this month and am kicking myself for not waiting another month. Oh well.

I'm in for Tiers I and II. Tier III is too crazy for me, but I'm going to keep track of what I read and fits it. I'm curious to see how "international" my reading is. :D

Tier II-How Well Do You Know Your Dangerous Hero Types?
Purpose: Read a book with each of the different types of Dangerous Heroes from the Master List:
Types of Dangerous Heroes/Bad Boys
1.Assassin (Contract Killer)
2.Modern Soldier (includes Mercenary)
3.Seducer/Heartbreaker/Womanizer
4.Stalkerific Hero
5.Tortured Hero (can be any of the above but major classification is tortured)
6.Criminal (Thief/Gangster/Illegal Enterprises)
7.Law Enforcement
8.Gunslinger/Outlaw/Pirate
9.Historical Warrior (Highlander/Knight/Native Warrior/Viking/Warlord/Soldier)
10.Spy
11.White Collar Raider (Business/Legal)
12.Blue Collar (Rough around the edges)
13.Fireman/Dangerous Job-holder
14.Paranormally Lethal/Immortal Warriors (Vampire, Demon, Werewolf, Gods, Shifter, Dark Fae)
15.Cowboy/Rancher/Rodeo
16.Bodyguards/Protectors
17.Sportsmen/Athletes/Bikers
18.Rakehell/Rake
19.Emperors/Kings/Dukes/Other Powerful and Titled Heroes
edited to add Tier III.
Tier III: Bad Boys Around the World. Read Fifty Books in 50 different geographic locations with some kind of dangerous hero/bad-boy type. The locations can be in the same country, but must be in a different state or city.

Great to have you on board, D! Did you have a specific question? Sorry if it's confusing. I was trying to come up with something somewhat challenging that could last a year since we have some master challenge completers (you included).
Level/Tier I
-Rate your bad boys on a scale from 1-10. 10 is really, really bad. 1 is badder than most 'normal' heroes.
Level/Tier II
-Read a book for each of the types of bad boys from the master list.
Level/Tier III
-Try to read 50 books with dangerous heroes who are in different cities around the world. They can be from the same country but not the same city. For example: Belfast, Ireland and Dublin, Ireland would count as two different books.
Does that help?

For Tier 1, does that mean I have to read 10 books then rate the bad guy?
And Tier 2, I think I get... can the books from 1 tier overlap into another?

No, you just assign one number on the scale to each bad guy that you read about. You can only have one #10, for example. The levels I-III can overlap.
The goal is to read more books with bad boys! The more dangerous hero books you read, the better your chances are of completing the challenges. :)

The book can be published at any time. You just have to read it between January 1-December 31, 2011.

That makes me a vice-stalker, because I stalk you, Dina! LOL
I'm totally at a loss for this challenge.

That's what I was planning to do because I don't usually read this genre, even though I enjoy it. I don't know all the authors and characters so it's a way for me to get to know them.

Dangerous Hero Scale -
10:Completely lethal - seemingly remorseless, has no problem killing to get the job done, or killing as the job. Killing someone doesn't phase him. It's either him or them and don't let someone be after someone he loves. More or less amoral-except when it comes to things that have true value to him (like his heroine or his family). The mission is all that matters to him (at least until he falls for his heroine).
9:Not the guy to mess with. He has few boundaries he won't cross.
8:He can be ruthless. Not above doing almost anything for self-promotion. Has and will betray those close to him if needed. He has a code, but it's his own code--not necessarily in line with established laws, rules, or mores.
7:Most people would probably consider him insane or crazy, or just kinda whacked in the head. A scary guy.
6:Ruthless to get the job done, or to get what he wants/needs/or to protect others.
5:A hero who still has the aura of a bad boy, but is more laid back and open and not necessarily quite as ruthless. Any hero who has stalkerific tendencies is automatically a 5. He's not the type that is completely unpredictable.
4:He has shown that those who mistake him for a ordinary, nice guy are wrong. He'll surprise you!
3:He will do 'bad' things for reasons he feels is necessary, and not feel too much regret about it. He has no problem claiming, kidnapping, or taking his heroine when the situation calls for it.
2: Most of the time he is very well behaved, you just don't want to get him riled up!
1:mild-mannered most of the time, but when his fuse gets lit, watch out. He becomes the most dangerous man in the room.

I hope everything is well, Valerie. If you are able to join us later on, please feel free. I didn't forget about your question about suggestions for some of the dangerous hero types. I'm still pondering it.

1. Budapest, Hungary. The Darkest Night, Gena Showalter. 1/2

All was ok until I enrolled into 2 quarterly and another yearly reading challenge.
Still I could do this challenge but I am sure I'll never finish it.
Can I cheat and add women?

I'll post what I'm tentatively planning to read so far for tier II - I'm just going to keep editing my list which is on the first page of this thread. It's message 36 if you want to take a look!
