I was wondering this exact same thing. Since they can I think I will have a good chance at attempting the third tier as well. =)

Also I've been reading a bunch of dangerous hero books this month and am kicking myself for not waiting another month. Oh well.

message 55: by RogueHireling (new)

RogueHireling (rogue_hireling) | 20 comments Oh and one more thing, would you prefer that I do one post and just update that single post. I'm just thinking that the thread might get a bit lengthy over the entire year if everyone keeps posting new update posts.

You can post as often as you like, and you can split your posts too.

Dina (missdina) | 179 comments Okay, after a lot of thinking, I decided to join this challenge. I'll have 12 months to finish it, so I think I can make it, right? Right??? LOL!

I'm in for Tiers I and II. Tier III is too crazy for me, but I'm going to keep track of what I read and fits it. I'm curious to see how "international" my reading is. :D

Melinda, you can count fiction places, each one once. Also different planets.

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish Sign me up, Lady D! I'm not sure I quite understand, but it sounds awesome. I'll probably see what everyone else is reading to get an idea of what's doing.

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 9851 comments Mod
Great to have you on board, D! Did you have a specific question? Sorry if it's confusing. I was trying to come up with something somewhat challenging that could last a year since we have some master challenge completers (you included).

Level/Tier I
-Rate your bad boys on a scale from 1-10. 10 is really, really bad. 1 is badder than most 'normal' heroes.

Level/Tier II
-Read a book for each of the types of bad boys from the master list.

Level/Tier III
-Try to read 50 books with dangerous heroes who are in different cities around the world. They can be from the same country but not the same city. For example: Belfast, Ireland and Dublin, Ireland would count as two different books.

Does that help?

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish Thanks, Danielle. I'm sure it's just me... understanding challenges is just so... challenging! LOL

For Tier 1, does that mean I have to read 10 books then rate the bad guy?

And Tier 2, I think I get... can the books from 1 tier overlap into another?

message 67: by Danielle The Book Huntress , Loves 'Em Lethal (last edited Dec 18, 2010 04:36PM) (new)

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 9851 comments Mod
No, you just assign one number on the scale to each bad guy that you read about. You can only have one #10, for example. The levels I-III can overlap.

The goal is to read more books with bad boys! The more dangerous hero books you read, the better your chances are of completing the challenges. :)

I'm totally at a loss for this challenge.

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish So, I read a book, then decide which category the hero fits into? Is that the idea?

message 85: by AH (new)

AH | 14 comments UniquelyMoi *~*Dhestiny*~* wrote: "So, I read a book, then decide which category the hero fits into? Is that the idea?"

That's what I was planning to do because I don't usually read this genre, even though I enjoy it. I don't know all the authors and characters so it's a way for me to get to know them.

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish Ok, that helps, AH.

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish Tier I: Rank Your Bad Boys/Dangerous Heroes: Read 10 books -

Dangerous Hero Scale -

10:Completely lethal - seemingly remorseless, has no problem killing to get the job done, or killing as the job. Killing someone doesn't phase him. It's either him or them and don't let someone be after someone he loves. More or less amoral-except when it comes to things that have true value to him (like his heroine or his family). The mission is all that matters to him (at least until he falls for his heroine).

9:Not the guy to mess with. He has few boundaries he won't cross.

8:He can be ruthless. Not above doing almost anything for self-promotion. Has and will betray those close to him if needed. He has a code, but it's his own code--not necessarily in line with established laws, rules, or mores.

7:Most people would probably consider him insane or crazy, or just kinda whacked in the head. A scary guy.

6:Ruthless to get the job done, or to get what he wants/needs/or to protect others.

5:A hero who still has the aura of a bad boy, but is more laid back and open and not necessarily quite as ruthless. Any hero who has stalkerific tendencies is automatically a 5. He's not the type that is completely unpredictable.

4:He has shown that those who mistake him for a ordinary, nice guy are wrong. He'll surprise you!

3:He will do 'bad' things for reasons he feels is necessary, and not feel too much regret about it. He has no problem claiming, kidnapping, or taking his heroine when the situation calls for it.

2: Most of the time he is very well behaved, you just don't want to get him riled up!

1:mild-mannered most of the time, but when his fuse gets lit, watch out. He becomes the most dangerous man in the room.
