Which team do you think won? Were zombie stories better? Or stories about unicorns? What is your overall opinion about this anthology? Did it meet your expectations?

Team Zombie! Zombies are just more interesting. I don't even know why they chose unicorns against zombies, seeing how different they are. The anthology was really entertaining though, and I really liked it (except the unicorn stories... blech).
Team Zombies for me as well. They were consistently good IMO. Too many unicorn stories were just plain silly.
Yes, I would say Team Zombies. I was't really into the whole 'zombie' concept until I read this book, to be honest. But all the zombie stories ended up to be gripping and more emotional. The unicorn stories were mostly fluff, but the one by Diana Peterfreund was amazing :)
Team Zombie. They had the best stories overall and the authors actually tried to put a new spin on what it means to be a zombie whereas only one or two authors from Team Unicorn attempted to create a new type of unicorn. They mostly stuck to what has been done since unicorns were first thought into existance.
I figured someone needed to step forward and show love for Team Unicorn. I am in the minority, because although I liked the zombie stories, my favorite stories in the anthology were unicorn stories ( "The Care and Feeding of Your Baby Killer Unicorn" by Diana Peterfund, "Princess Prettypants" by Meg Cabot, and "The Third Virgin" by Kathleen Duey) . I have to admit as well that my least favorite story was also a unicorn story "A Thousand Flowers" by Margo Lanagan, although my other least favorite story was "Love Will Tear Us Apart" by Alaya Dawn Johnson . The zombie stories were all good in my opinion, but I can't say I loved them.
SO DUMB! I can't understand why I wasted so much time reading this BOOK! But if I had to pick Team Zombie won!
Sure It was just childish. I know it's young adult. But it was like sitting in the movie theather watching a really bad movie. Just waiting for it to end. It's like talking about what is better apples or oranges. Pointless!!
Amber, I disagree. Because it's all so obviously for fun. Nobody cares at the end of the day what won. It's just a fun way to do a book of short stories.Zombies were pulling through for me, but with The Care and Feeding of your Baby Killer Unicorn and Princess Prettypants (which I was VERY sceptical of at first, based on the name) I hate to say it, but Team Unicorn won it for me.

I was very skeptical about Princess Prettypants too! I really did not expect to like it as much as I did.
I know. I would have named it something else if I were Ms. Cabot...the name is far from appealing...
I liked "Princess Prettypants. One story out of all of them. Overall the book was dumb.Sure it's for fun but even fun book have a point! This one did not!
Reallu I thought that the point was pretty clear...to answer a question...which is better, zombies or unicorns?
I thought the book was fun and I laughed a lot reading it, mostly at the editors commentary. Of course it's like comparing apples and oranges. Either you're the type of person who likes zombies (horror) or unicorns (fantasy). It's like the HP/Twilight debate. Typically I like zombies more, but Princess Prettypants was one of my favorite stories since it had the kind of sense of humor I expected in the zombie stories (like Zombieland).
Yes I get that but I thought that the stories we a bit childish. I know it's a YA book, but it could have been more adult. If I was a teen reading I would feel like I was Being talked down to.Yes I enjoyed the banter between the teams but I had a lot of things that I didn't like with this book than like so that is why I have to say that I disliked the book.
One story and some banter isn't enough for me to say that I liked the book.
Sure there have been a few books that we have read that I loved and some people hated. That's the best part. We are all reading books that we might have never picked up.
I get what you are saying about it being childish, that bugged me too. I enjoyed the book as a whole, though.
I was annoyed by the editorial banter. I didn't want to pick sides, still don't. I like reading World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie Warand watching battles against zombies, but zombies themselves, no thank you, usually. I like fantasy and I like unicorns like Peter Beagle's The Last Unicorn. I liked several of the stories in this anthology, some were about unicorns, some were about zombies.
I personally skipped almost all banter, because it felt mostly as an inside joke to me. I wanted to read the stories themselves instead.
I want to post a picture of a great horse (not a unicorn) that is posted right outside the Denver International Airport. It reminds me off all the unicorns in this book! It's eyes glow red at night... it is kinda cool! The statue even KILLED the artist who created it (I am NOT joking!) Read more about it here:

I wish I would've been able to read this book with the group. I know in this group you can always add posts after the book has been read but it is just not the same. :(
Anyways.... I really liked this book. I usually like anthologies though so I am not surprised. I am actually Team Unicorn! I thought those stories were the most creative and the ones that have stuck in my head the most. I mean killer unicorns, beastiality! (I think I spelled that right).
I agree with Colberto... I see Amber didn't like the book but it was really just for fun. The title itself pretty much tells me not to take the book too seriously.
I too didn't like the editorial banter. I was surprised about the banter for the last story saying it was the best one in the book. I wondered how that made the other authors feel? But I guess if there wasn't that banter we wouldn't have been so into the whole zombie vs unicorn debate. Fun book... good pick!!!!!!
