Very interesting and amusing book."
Loved that one !
I'm currently reading
The Alloy of Law
I haven't posted my current readings in a while. I'm still trucking along in 3 different series, In Death by JD Robb, Harry Bosch by Michael Connelly, and Rainie & Qunicy aka FBI Profiler series by Lisa Gardner. I finished
Still Missing and
Portrait in Death over the holiday. The In Death books are always great & funny, whereas Still Missing was a little disturbing but good. I just couldn't imagine myself going through all she went through!I'm now reading the 5th Harry Bosch,
Trunk Music and the 2nd FBI profiler,
The Third Victim. This year, I'd really like to finish the Bosch series and start the Kay Scarpetta Series by Patricia Cornwell. We'll see how that goes since I can have a solid plan of action and easily get distracted if I see something else good. I just can't get enough! :)

Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court....bit of a challenge cause it's written in old english! Thank God I am reading it on my kobo with the built in dictionary!

Wow, Philippa, both of these books are my personal favorites. I hope you're enjoying them. I'm currently reading The Iron Queen

I'm really enjoying both of them so far! I love the whole ASOIAF series, and The Casual Vacancy is really great too :)
I was reading
Trunk Music but since a book I've been waiting for at the library became available, I put that aside so I could read it. I'm now about 30% through
Sharp Objects and really liking it so far. The way she writes is truly like a puzzle! You don't get too much too soon so I'm really enjoying it! :)
I started City of Ashes today. I read the first book in the series at Christmas and loved it, so I'm pretty sure I'm going to enjoy this book.
I am reading Thursdays in the Park by Hilary Boyd ! Its such an adorable story line so far and enjoying every page !
I just finished Trunk Music, which was another great Bosch story! I started Imitation in Death last night so I can keep trucking along in that series. I can't get enough of Eve Dallas! I'm currently on the library waiting list for Dark Places and The Next Accident too.

I did the same thing... as soon as I was done with Gone Girl, I immediately went to put the other 2 on hold. I've read Sharp Objects because it was available first and it was pretty darn good! Can't wait for Dark Places to become available!! Does she have anything else coming out soon?

A Sealed Fate
'A Sealed Fate' is not my usual kind of read and so I didn't expect much, but I was surprised to be hooked from the first chapter and devoured the whole book in one sitting!
I was impressed by the tightly plotted structure, unusual in a first novel, and even at the most shocking moment, everything still made sense. I have to be careful not to spoil the plot for other readers, but although I was completely surprised by the action of one character, I didn't have any trouble believing the event... the character was so fully rounded, and described so well in earlier chapters. I wonder if I would have been so shocked if a male character in a similar situation had done the same thing. Probably not, so I learned something about myself there!
Although the themes of the book are serious, Ms Gordon has a light touch and a rich vein of humour runs throughout. I laughed out loud on the train more than once. The story is thoroughly modern, but spiritual themes are woven into the plot and the motivations of the characters with a deft hand: a reader without an interest in these subjects would not be bored, but a reader with some knowledge might notice the cleverness of many little details in the writing... extra fun for me!
But the best thing about this book is the characters. The author understands so well how people hang together, how one thing in life relates to another, and how we tend to act in line with our personalities, no matter how perverse this may occasionally be! A real warmth shines through the writing... this author really cares about these characters and I really fell in love with the two main ones! I had a bit of a crush on the love interest too!
My one regret is that we did not get to find out more about Larissa's life beforehand, and I would love to know what happened next. I do hope that the author is planning a sequel, or even a prequel!

Ok, I finished the book only yesterday. As I said before, it was almost as good as the first one. Almost because I liked the first one slightly better. Days of Blood and Starlight is also a lot different from Daughter of Smoke and Bone, it's more focused on war and death and misery than romance.
I am about half way through The Pavilion of Women: a story of a ruling family in China at times of great change. The insulation of the family's life is emotional as well as narrative, you feel it reading the story. Interesting so far.
I just started reading
. This is my second time with a Morrison novel. Hopefully I will like this one better than I liked
.
