SOLVED. conjoined twins, southern swamp, children in title [s]

Cannot remember anything about this book besides the fact that I think the word "children" was part of the title. I also want to guess that the author's name was Tom something, mabye the last name started with a P?

A man lives in a big house in the south, kind of in a swampy area. he lives with his brothers, who are conjoined. at first i remembered it being 2 brothers, but maybe it's 3? the have a woman come in to help and the conjoined brothers get a crush on her. there is also the young girl from some neighbor family that comes around to do stuff and messes around with the older brother.

very vague and strange, i know. i read it about 2 years ago, so i don't think it's very old

no, that's not it, but it certainly sounds similiar!

a few more things i remember, the conjoined brothers didn't talk at all, and they all had different interests, like one liked music.

also, i think the family used to be rich, or was still rich which is why the town let them stay, even though they thought the family was trashy.

perhaps the woman was a journalist,and while she was interviewing them the twins/triplets fell in love with her?
