How did the elephant fit in your pajamas?

Jammies Here you go, Sallers: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bananas_...

Stacia and Myles, thank you for making me feel less geezerish.

I could understand if the top were exposing skin, but the bottoms? Was there buttcrack in the equation?

I'm guessing a tramp stamp.

message 106: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments A buttcrack and a ton of lower back, but no tramp stamp. She was kind of in an open area leaning down to look at a lower shelf of videos when we walked into the library. Good morning!

And your son's reaction was...?

(In her defense, buttcrack is sometimes unintentional. Clothing designers are to blame, often.)

message 108: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments That's fair enough. She seemed normal enough. My son wanted to go directly to the new video shelf and didn't appear to notice.

Banana's in pyjama's is an Australian thingy. Leigh will love them. I'm glad our culture is having some influence on your kids. :D

Sally (mrsnolte) | 17373 comments Mod
True dat.

Lets talk general pyjamas now. I don't wear them in public but I do enjoy putting them on a few hours before bedtime. This is a new, post becoming a mom/old/fat thing that I think is related to the fact that a lot of my pants chafe me around the hips so it is a glory to take them off and put on something with an elastic waistband.
But enough about that.
What kind of pyjamas do you wear?
Do you wear the same sort/style night after night?

Men, do you wear full on matching tops and bottoms?
Ladies, do you actually wear nightgowns?

How many fellow TCers have slippers on their feet?

Does anyone have more than one robe? If so, why?

message 121: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) I have one robe that I got on a Celebrity cruise to Alaska about 11 years ago. It's a thick, cotton, terry cloth.

message 122: by Sally, la reina (new)

Sally (mrsnolte) | 17373 comments Mod
You're not supposed to take those! That's why there was no robe for me when I went on a Celebrity cruise 9 years ago.

*weeps*

message 123: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) No we had a suite that included the robe. The travel agent gave it to us. I was rich then.

My winter pajamas are a medium purple polartec type fabric with celery green piping. They are very comfortable. If the bedroom is warm enough, though, I prefer to sleep in a t-shirt. I don't like having swaths of fabric enveloping my body. I need to move freely. I have a pair of Black Watch plaid flannel pajamas which I don't wear because they're not warm enough and the elastic in the waistband is itchy. I have cotton pajama bottoms I can wear if I have guests who don't need to see me in underwear. I think I have a summer pair of short pajamas somewhere. I don't have a robe - I just transition smoothly from towels to clothing.

Sally (mrsnolte) | 17373 comments Mod
I can see that part of the no robing; the only time I need a robe is after a bath when I'm all hot and sleepy. I do like a good robe hour or so in the morning while the coffee makes its way into my blood and into my brain. Then I can start to think about other clothes.

message 126: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Can't beat a robe on a cold Nebraska morn.

message 127: by [deleted user] (new)

I wear bright orange and pink flannel pyjamas in winter. They have "Dancing Queen" printed on the front with a picture of a hippo in a tutu. They were a gift from my kids. I have a robe but it is rarely necessary.

i have those blue and purple ones.

message 134: by Jammies (new)

Jammies Jammies is not Australian, but spelled "pyjamas" the way the Bananas do.

I have six different terry cloth robes, all very thick and plush and in different colors. I'm with Sallers on liking a post-shower robe hour for coffee in the morning. I sleep in either cotton jersey pjs or cotton jersey nightshirts, depending on how cold it is.

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments I like white cotton nightgowns, a good quality white cotton - and I esp. love the embellishments (embroidery, puckering, leeettle pearl buttons, narrow lace trim, satin ribbon, etc) that make it seem luxurious and feminine. Unfortunately, a good one (that's affordable) is hard to find, especially outside of the summertime and ones that don't look like something my grandmother would wear (i.e. it's not a muu muu - it's fitted).

Kinda like this:

Or this:

Or even this:

Gilligan & O'Malley (a Target brand) used to make them and they were usually under $30. I haven't seen any for a long time, though. And when they do make them, they're not the white ones they used to make. The one that I adored the most was one I purchased off the sale rack at Crabtree & Evelyn about 15 years ago - it was full length, 1 in straps on the shoulder that criss-crossed across the back, had a little pearl button clasp below the strap line on the low back and a plunging neckline in the front that was sort of a 40s style cut. It was so sweet and feminine... and sexy, too. And HOOMG, so soft.

Instead, I find myself settling for this:

Nick & Nora jammies

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments I love my pajama pants. I'm wearing them right now. There are few feelings as good as putting on your pajama pants when you get home. I also tend to wear an oversized t-shirt (a Chicago White Sox one right now) with them. And no socks. I can't sleep wearing socks. I have a flannel robe, too, which I don't wear often.

Are you ready for bed now RA? What time do you go down these days? Up at 3 am even during break?

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) That second nightgown would be even more adorable if it was shortened to at least a couple of inches above the knee.

message 140: by RandomAnthony (last edited Dec 20, 2010 03:33PM) (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments I have to take my wife to pick up her car from the shop (whoo-hoo! Only seventy-five bucks, when we thought it might be a new transmission!) in a couple minutes, and I'm not feeling all that great, so I'll probably read Franzen in bed at about 6 and fall asleep by eight, depending on when the kids collapse next to me. Oh, the Bears game is on. But yes, usually four, at the gym by five...

Sallers, I love how you say "go down", not in a pervy way, but because you have a baby, so you're using baby vocabulary to describe how grown ups go to bed.
