Rita (rccola1945hotmailcom) | 513 comments Fancis, do you know anything about, Adobe Reader? Since I downloaded, a book on it, It has taken over all of my favorites reads, & my pictures. Now I can't get the pictures, to my facebook page. Please reply when you can. Thanks Rita.

Francis Franklin (francisjamesfranklin) | 544 comments Well, I've never known Adobe Reader to do that. I only use it for reading PDFs that are on my hard drive.

Thats all I wanted mine for, just books. Dont know how to transfer the, pictures I like. Some are flowers, and others are dogs. Animals, & there wellfair, is my passion, along with, reading. I would save every animal in the world, if I could. To some people, it sounds crazy, but, somebody, has to be a voice, for them. Thats me.

Eric (e_gerds) | 9 comments Rita, what it sounds like is that Adobe Reader has changed the association between itself and your other files. As might know that most files have a period and then three or four letters after that period. For example myfile.doc the .doc tells the computer what made the file and what software to open the file with. ".doc" for example is a word DOCument and MicroSoft Word may open it.

When you installed Adobe Reader it basically overrode your old settings and said to open everything with it. That is why when you click on a picture Adobe Reader opens rather than say Picture view. I would guess that there was an option to do this or not do this when Adobe Reader was doing it's install but you did not realize what it was asking at the time and you said yes/ok.

To fix this you need to recreate your association. I don't know what type and version of computer you have so I can't tell you how to fix it.

Francis Franklin (francisjamesfranklin) | 544 comments If you find a photo on your desktop or in Windows Explorer, can you right-click and choose "Open with..." (or something like that)?

message 59: by Eric (last edited Mar 28, 2013 12:50PM) (new)

Eric (e_gerds) | 9 comments Francis method does work but it is a one shot and doesn't change the over riding problem.

Windows 7 is what I really need to give the correct instructions.

In windows 7 open the control panel. Click on the word "Programs". Under default programs you should see an option: "Make a file type always open in a specific program". Click on this.

It will take a few moments to load.

You will then get a long list of period, three letter combination files types with the programs on the right which will open or run the software.

You will then need to change the files you want open by other programs. For example for image such as jpg you will scroll down to .jpg, highlight (select it) and push the "change program" button and select the other software you want to open all future JPGs with.

I hope that helps.

Rita, go to the upper right corner of the main screen. There should be an option of enlarging the screen view. You should find it around your favorite bar.

Kasi Blake (kcblake) | 11 comments A friend and I are trying to put together a Vampire Event for October. I'd like to get other blogs to join us. We haven't worked out the details yet, but if anyone wants to join us, let me know.

message 86: by Francis (new)

Francis Franklin (francisjamesfranklin) | 544 comments What kind of event?

message 87: by Rita (new)

Rita (rccola1945hotmailcom) | 513 comments And where would it be?

message 88: by Kasi (new)

Kasi Blake (kcblake) | 11 comments It would be on a variety of blogs if we can get other people interested who have vampire blogs or who've written vampire books. I guess even if they just had a paranormal blog that would be good.

It will be a Vampire Event with a list of great vampire books to try, excerpts, maybe interviews with some vampire writers, posts on the subject written by different people who love vampires. Maybe a post on vampire related movies or shows. We just thought it would be fun. My friend wants to make it a yearly thing and maybe do witches next year. This is still in the idea stage so any ideas you have on the subject would be appreciated. Thanks.

Francis Franklin (francisjamesfranklin) | 544 comments This weekend I'm heading off to Romania for some vampire hunting. To celebrate my humanity, while I still can, I'm making my fantasy novella about the vampire Hrana free for the next five days (22-26 May, 2013). Here's an excerpt: The Vampire.

Some recent reviews of vampire novel(la)s:
* A Vow of Tears, by Jill H. O'Bones
* The Dark Proposal, by Megan Cashman
* everafter, by Nell Stark and Trinity Tam
* Black Heart, by Morgan Dreiss

I'd love to join. I'm an author of vampire books - my first one's due for release the end of June - and I occasionally blog about vampires, too.

The Black Church, The Naked Lady and The Sphinx
The Road to Poenari

ps. Has anyone else noticed that the nights are unusually bright for this time of year. I dunno, maybe it was just the full moon...
