According to the author, the paperback release has hit a "small snag" (11/5/11) and will be delayed, so it doesn't exist yet.

There are quite a few ways- if a publisher or author provides page numbers, we'll go with them. I look for word count next- some publishers and retailers have categories- novella, novel, etc with word counts. There are many places to check for word counts for individual books- smashwords, fictionwise, itunes books, etc. We use a reference of 350-250 words per page. If word counts are not available, we sometimes have to work with kindle locations or other device specific clues. We've found that file size doesn't reflect document length- there are too many variables. The moderators do discuss any ebook that falls close to the 100 page threshold to make sure we're being as fair as possible. I try to find multiple information sources for each title.

I've become pretty efficient at searching for clues. It really helps if you include any info you might find like Dee and others do.

Even if you find this info, you still need to get the book approved. The moderator reviewing completed tasks uses SRC ebook Verification in post 1 to check for ebook approval.

Sheila - i've found most of the smaller publishers are pretty good about listed word count on their websites, or if they don't list specific word count, a range that it falls within (like novel is 35k-50k) or something like that

Some sources call these short stories; others call them novellas; the author calls them novels. Individually they are too short, but they may be used in combination (Amber Moon plus another) to reach 100 pages.
