Sarah | 13814 comments You know what's really horrible? See that 115 was edited? That's because I started out by writing "I knew a dog who..." and thinking about a cousin's dog when I was five or six. After I posted it I realized that we had stolen the trick and taught it to our dog. Why did my first recollection of it outweigh fifteen years of my own dog doing it? Fickle memory.

Brittomart You didn't know that was no wheelchair Jimmy?

message 104: by Brittomart (new)

Brittomart Emma was pregnant? When????

message 105: by Brittomart (new)

Brittomart I know Manny was pregnant and had an abortion.

I heard that Emma and Shane ended up getting married though.

message 106: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11837 comments Manny is a boy's name. How in hell does a Manny get pregnant?

message 107: by Brittomart (new)

Brittomart Her full name is Manuela

message 108: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11837 comments Ah. They took a boy's name, put an "a" on the end, then gave her the boy's nickname. Got it.

message 109: by Brittomart (last edited Dec 05, 2010 05:55PM) (new)

Brittomart I've always thought of Manny as unisex. Like "Blake"

message 110: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11837 comments Blake is unisex? I only know one Blake and he's a dude.

message 111: by Brittomart (new)

Brittomart And I know a couple of girls named Blake.

message 112: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11837 comments I know girls named Kaylee, Kayla, Kyla, Kylee and Kambrie.

Names are weird. Utah is weirder.

message 113: by Phoenix (new)

Phoenix (phoenixapb) | 1619 comments Not as weird as Texas Phil...but close :)

What is Degrassi? Are we talking about that PBS show from the 80's? They made a new one?

message 115: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Who?

message 116: by Carol (new)

Carol | 1678 comments Back in my day, they had after-school specials to tackle the big topics. Unless there was a 'very special episode' of Family Ties or somesuch.

Usually with Scott Baio on the sauce or on the nod.

With kids like these, you'd be tippling too.

message 122: by Mary (new)

Mary (madamefifi) I just now realized that the term "pre-Columbian" refers to the time before Columbus "discovered America". What did I think it meant? No idea. It makes perfect sense though and now I feel stupid.

message 123: by Michele (new)

Michele bookloverforever (lovebooks14) | 1970 comments never watched either show. always preferred books to tv unless it was something really special.

message 124: by Brittomart (new)

Brittomart I remember A LOT about Degrassi: TNG cause that was basically my fave show from like... Age 11 to 15, and then it got stupid. Or I grew up.

message 125: by Brittomart (new)

Brittomart 'cause it's like, life really doesn't happen like that.

message 126: by Brittomart (last edited Dec 07, 2010 06:26PM) (new)

Brittomart I don't know, but I want to know: does size really matter?

message 127: by Phoenix (new)

Phoenix (phoenixapb) | 1619 comments Sometimes size matters Britt...if it's really small, try not to laugh and don't ever ask "is it in yet", that's just rude. But if it's really big...RUN AWAY! Bigger is not always better!

Ouch, there's a wire?

message 131: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Okay now stop horsing around.

message 132: by Brittomart (new)

Brittomart I didn't know that "This is how the world ends. Not with a bang but a whimper" is from the last two lines of "The Hollow Men" by T.S. Eliot.

It changed my entire reading of the poem 'cause it's been floating around the internet for two years now, and when I see it, usually I think, "Oh, someone's trying to sound cool and dark."

message 133: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) I love that poem.

message 134: by Brittomart (new)

Brittomart I'm the only one who scoffs when I read a line like that?

message 135: by Michele (new)

I bought fish oil capsules today. They were expensive, but my wife wanted them, and I had a coupon at Costco. I might try some myself, even though I'm a vegetarian. I think it's Alaskan salmon oil.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Grrrr...I hate it when I jump in a thread and it's moved on from the topic I want to talk about.

I watched the original Degrassi Jr. High and Degrassi High. It was a cheese fest of really bad songs that must have only been available for your listening pleasure in Canada.

Saved by the Bell was also cheesy but fun. So was Out of This World, Small Wonder, and Head of the Class. Blast from the past...80's tv was horrible, wasn't it?

message 138: by Michele (new)

Michele bookloverforever (lovebooks14) | 1970 comments I loved the 80's but not because of the music or tv but because: I helped build the Crises Service, became head of the speakers bureau, started insurance courses, got my CPCU, raised my son, moved to California, built my career, volunteered for various political campaigns, went all over the place in San Francisco, visited wineries, Russian River,Yosemite...in other words I was at my healthiest and most active part of my life and it was GOOD!

message 139: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments I didn't know that the guy who came up with the idea of the Great Exhibition in London in 1851 was the same guy who came up with the idea of Christmas cards, or that he invented Christmas cards to promote the new penny post.

message 141: by Michele (new)

A civil servant named Henry Cole.

I did not know that when people have kidney transplants, it is not necessary to remove the old kidney. So if someone has had several transplants, there might be 4-5 kidneys in there!

message 149: by Sally, la reina (new)

Sally (mrsnolte) | 17373 comments Mod
I didn't know anyone could have more than one kidney transplant? Isn't that, like, a seriously life-endangering transplant?
