Wow... Ride the Fire is more intense than Again the Magic, so they can't really be compared. Different settings, different time periods, different circumstances. They are both absolute favorites, though. Did you read my Ride the Fire review? There are no spoilers.

The first 2 books are still in print, but RtF is not. The author has just gotten her publishing rights back from Dorchester and hopefully will be able to get them all into ebook format, but it might take years. Check thriftbooks.com for a used copy. I use them all the time and have never had a problem or been disappointed.
i put myself on a book buying restriction in july. then i joined a challenge and needed a book i couldnt get at the library. so i bought an ebook. then it got bad again because i installed the b&n ereader on my work pc. *sigh* so unfortunately i obviously have not gotten to step one because i still have an uncontrollable urge to buy books and i get them in two minutes instead of two days

based on tht review is that i found it a good read. i like strong stories that challenges the writer to get more deeply into the development of the characters. However i havent read the review of the previous two. will have to take a look. xxxxxxx

I think I'm really going to get into Anne Stuart by the way and Mary Jo Putney is one of my favourite authors and Thunder and Roses is one of her best books.
Good to know about Mary Jo Putney. I've never read anything by her. I love Anne Stuart with a passion and I stockpile her books like I do LK. I've only read probably three of her books, though I probably own almost all of them.The book buying is only open until Dec 31st...then no more until March, which is my bday month!
So...any recommendations for me?? What else is good by MJP?

Thunder and Roses: Crazy plot line but wonderful characters- I was sold by the whole gypsy, Welsh, penguins, seduction scene on a billiards table aspect! There's also a fire, a flood and a cave in!
The Bartered Bride: Wonderful hero (Mr Honourable), set in Indonesia and London, false murder charges, kidnapping, pirates, slavery, bizarre rituals, unexpected legacy.
Silk and Secrets: Based on the silk road, estranged husband and wife, imprisonment, knife fighting, unusual sports involving a goats head, desert chases, fantastic heroine modelling herself on Lady Hester Stanhope.
I would say that she is good if you like a strong plot in your books as long as you are willing to suspend disbelief as to the plot actually being practical! I like her strong heroines and that she often includes travel. She doesn't seem to write formulaic works which is a problem I have with some authors- you know the ones where the sex scenes seem to appear at a set page number and they always avoid anything that their readers might dislike.

Hello fellow book buying addicts!! My addiction is so bad that I feel the compulsion to check the 3 thrift stores, 2 used books stores, and the free book swap at the library for any book deals almost once a week. It's really getting out of hand.. and I have NO more room on my 4 bookshelves (in which books are 3 stacks deep on each shelf).. I'm resorting to storage bins. I really need help!! Not to mention hunting for books on ebay and amazon...

soooo, you know you're an addict when you see a book you'd really like to read, check out the revies on goodreads before purchasing, and goodreads tell you that you already own it idiot.oops.

The thing is, and I don't know if you're like me, but I prefer to read things in order. At the end of this book, we get to see some family members who were introduced in the 2 previous books. It doesn't mess with the plot of this story at all, but the hero in this book is the son and nephew of the heroes in the previous books.
