message 1: by Brittomart (new)

Brittomart How are you with making decisions? Are you indecisive? I CAN'T STAND INDECISIVENESS.

This is how it is with my friends and I, deciding what to do:

Me: What do y'all want to do tonight?
Friends: I don't know.
Me: dinner and a movie?
Friends: That sounds alright.
Me: Okay, what movie?
Friends: I dunno..
Me: Any suggestions for dinner?
Friends: I don't know
Me: FUCK YOU. I AM GOING SOLO TONIGHT. DEUCES!

OR THIS IS WHAT I CAN'T STAND
Me: Are we going to the dining hall?
Friend 1: I dunno, ask friend two.
Me: Friend two, are we going to the dining hall.
Friend 2: I dunno, ask friend 1.
ME: FUCK YOU, I AM GOING TO SUBWAY.

I just really really hate it when people don't care and have this attitude like, "It's whatever. We can do whatever." HAVE A MOTHERFUCKING OPINION. Get excited about something. Jesus.

ms.petra (mspetra) Britt, I had a hard time deciding on my postcards, so some people got more than one. Other than that, my motto is better to decide and make a mistake than watch an opportunity go by while I am deciding. It hasn't always worked out, but I don't have a lot of "I wish I had...." moments.

I hate making decisions. Hate. It.

message 4: by Michele (new)

Michele bookloverforever (lovebooks14) | 1970 comments Britt, I totally agree with you. drives me nuts when people "dither". they do not seem to understand that choosing not to choose is a decision itself. I agree that it is better to make a decision and be wrong than just sit there twiddling your thumbs. My ex and my in laws sometimes have trouble making decisions because their mother made all theirs for them and they have difficulty now...I just keep bringing up the subject and choices until they get tired of hearing me and make a decision.

message 5: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments I have a tendency to talk out all the sides of a decision until I have driven people crazy.

message 6: by Charlotte (new)

Charlotte Creech | 100 comments My husband is the King of Ditherers. He can spend half an hour trying to decide if the answer is "maybe" or "maybe not."
As far as decisions on where to eat, etc., if my friends can't make a decision, I just say where I want to go and make the decision for them. Most of the time, if they don't agree they will choose to pick something else at that time.

message 7: by Brittomart (new)

Brittomart But I have to say - most of the time when someone makes a decision, I hate it, and end up thinking they should have listened to me anyway.

I'm bossy.

message 8: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments But also, the more people involved in the decision, the harder it is. My group of friends in college and just after college was the same way as you described.
Thai? No, Jenn won't eat Thai.
Indian? Someone else just had it last night.
Etc.

message 9: by Carol (new)

Carol | 1678 comments If I truly don't care, I want others that may care more to voice their choices. If I want Thai, I say let's get Thai food.
I used to say I didn't care then bitch about someone else's obviously poor choices. Now I just want things my way.

message 10: by Brittomart (new)

Brittomart That kind of thing, Sarah, I don't mind as much 'cause at least there's some input. I just want something other than "What? Oh, well, ask someone else."

message 11: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments Well then, you would have liked my friends. I always wound up so hungry I would gnaw an arm off while we argued out where we would go.

message 12: by janine (new)

janine | 7709 comments i'm a terribly indecisive person.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments I'm pretty decisive. I like to figure out what I'm going to do, and do it.
I'm reasonable, though. And sure, sometimes it make take me a little while to figure out what I want. And sometimes I honestly don't have a preference.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments Very smart, Bun. I'd love to go get some Chinese with you. :)

message 15: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) I can't decide if I'm indecisive or not.

No, actually, I'm not. It ends up bordering on impulsiveness, though, to be honest.

message 16: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca White (rebecca_white) | 1027 comments Well, uh, I don't think I mind people who can't make up their mind because that means I get my way. Seems very convenient, actually. The only thing that would bug me is if they refuse to state an opinion and then complain about where we ended up.

message 17: by Brittomart (new)

Brittomart I want Chinese with Bun!

message 18: by Brittomart (new)

Brittomart Take out?

message 19: by Sally, la reina (new)

Sally (mrsnolte) | 17373 comments Mod
I'm in! I'd love to have Bun pick out my dishes tambien.

message 20: by Spellbound (new)

Spellbound (spellboundreads) | 117 comments I agree with Rebecca.
In general terms I want what I want and I am happy if you want it too. If I don't know what I want I wait util I make up my mind, unless somebody else hits me with a good idea first.

message 21: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments I'm in too.

message 22: by Brittomart (new)

Brittomart I want shrimp fried rice, a spring roll and chicken wings

message 23: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments Sesame noodles for me, and some kinda tofu-veggie-dish. Haven't decided which yet.

message 24: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Hot & sour soup, please.

message 25: by Brittomart (new)

Brittomart Larry, I want some of your soup.

message 26: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Get your own, girl. :)

message 27: by Brittomart (new)

Brittomart ::pouts::

message 28: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Oh, okay here. Have some. Wait ... I don't have it yet.

message 29: by Jim (new)

Jim | 6484 comments This Hot & Sour soup I confiscated sure is good.

It's a deal.

message 31: by Heidi (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments Bun, I'm not much of a Chinese cuisine fan, but I'd join you for something else in a heartbeat! I like most anything else. :)

message 32: by [deleted user] (new)

Did I miss dinner already? :(

message 33: by Mandee (new)

Mandee (amandalinajanel) | 9 comments I'm so hungry now.

I'd totally be game for ANYTHING else. Just about... if you'd please, though... save a fortune cookie for me? :)

Sally (mrsnolte) | 17373 comments Mod
I want egg drop soup and some hot tea.

message 38: by Heidi (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments SALLY!! Ha ha ha. :)

message 39: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments You know, this is an advantage of living in a small town. There's really only one Chinese restaurant, and its authenticity is, ahem, questionable. If you had to, like, a Thai restaurant in Seattle, man, I don't know where you even start.

I'm ok with decisions. I'm pretty laid back, but like Britt, I get to the "just fucking pick something" point. At work I have to make decisions fairly regularly...and teachers make decisions all day long...so you get used to making decisions and if you fuck up, so be it, tomorrow try something new.

message 40: by Jammies (new)

Jammies I tend to be like Bun--I'm the one sending the e-mail that says, "I'm picking up lunch from Aladdin's, does anyone want anything?"

But then I wind up unable to decide what nail polish to wear and going to an interview with bare nails.

message 41: by janine (new)

janine | 7709 comments are there any leftovers? i need a late afternoon snack,

message 43: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) In the fridge, j.

message 44: by Michele (new)

Michele bookloverforever (lovebooks14) | 1970 comments While living in San Fran, I had a tourist ask me where to find a chinese restaurant. I asked her what kind of chinese cooking was she looking for: Hunan? Cantonese? Mandarin?...he just looked at me and since I was on Market St.I directed him to Chinatown just a block or two away. Personally, I look for where the Chinese are eating.

message 45: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments Michele wrote: "Personally, I look for where the Chinese are eating. ."
That's always the best way to find a good ethnic restaurant!

message 47: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) I'm glad you enjoyed it.
