Donna Jo Atwood | 2412 comments Sandy, does Margaret Atwood's Year of the Flood work for part B? My copy's blurb just says "an unspecified time in the future."

Thanks.

yes, that works - it's clearly future (and having read it, I certainly hope it's at least 30 years from now!)

Dee (austhokie) | 8947 comments IIRC - as long as its set more than 50 years prior to when its written it counts...i'm using Eloisa James for mine

That's what I'm hoping!

someone posted asking about The Christmas Quilt

As I started to reply, GR started flickering and getting weird - and the message disappeared! So, if I wasn't just hallucinating the whole thing.......that's why your message is gone.

And, yes, the book works - as I recall from reading it, all the important action happens in the past.

sure, no problem

Chinook | 32 comments Would Chronicle of a Death Foretold work? It was published in 1981 and according to Spark Notes is set in the 1950s...

At least one review said it told about a murder committed "27 years" earlier - that's close enough!

Chinook | 32 comments Awesome. I had an alternate, but I've been wanting to read that for ages.

Valorie | 817 comments Will Wanderlust work for the B part of this task? It's set in space and seems futuristic.

Sorry, Valorie, I've been really busy at work, including being out of town for a couple days.

This sounds like it would be fine.

the only one I've read is Ender's Game, but they all seem to work from the descriptions. They all seem to take place in Earth's future and I didn't see any reference to dates that would put them in the very near future.

Christine US (christineus) | 575 comments Would the In Death series by J.D. Robb work for future?

The first one was written in 1995, and I believe they take place more than 30 years from then (considering the flying cars...) but I wanted to check. The descriptions do not provide a year

The early ones are set in 2058. I believe some of the mid to late ones spill over into 2059.
