Thanks."
yes, that works - it's clearly future (and having read it, I certainly hope it's at least 30 years from now!)
Thanks."

Thanks, Sandy.

That's what I'm hoping!
someone posted asking about The Christmas Quilt
As I started to reply, GR started flickering and getting weird - and the message disappeared! So, if I wasn't just hallucinating the whole thing.......that's why your message is gone.
And, yes, the book works - as I recall from reading it, all the important action happens in the past.

sure, no problem
sure, no problem

Chinook wrote: "Would Chronicle of a Death Foretold work? It was published in 1981 and according to Spark Notes is set in the 1950s..."
At least one review said it told about a murder committed "27 years" earlier - that's close enough!

Sorry, Valorie, I've been really busy at work, including being out of town for a couple days.
This sounds like it would be fine.

Diane wrote: "Do any of these three work for the future: Ender's Game, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, or We?"
the only one I've read is Ender's Game, but they all seem to work from the descriptions. They all seem to take place in Earth's future and I didn't see any reference to dates that would put them in the very near future.

The first one was written in 1995, and I believe they take place more than 30 years from then (considering the flying cars...) but I wanted to check. The descriptions do not provide a year

The early ones are set in 2058. I believe some of the mid to late ones spill over into 2059.
