Not Bill | 1061 comments Olbermann is the worst, absolutely the worst. A disgusting, miserable creature. He is not a journalist by any stretch. There is shriller demonstration of Bush Derangement Syndrome than when Olbermann opens his pie hole. That said, I've no doubt that many enjoy that. I just don't want it passed of as news. It's not - it's invective.

I concur NB.

Rusty (rustyshackleford) I just don’t know how guys like that can pass themselves off as journalists. There’s nothing wrong with being a political commentator – if that’s what you are, fine. Don’t claim to be something else.

I think they should rename the cable news to rightwing/leftwing agenda opinions networks

Cyril I don't watch much TV and never watch TV news anymore. One can get so much more information without the fakery online. I get most of my news from the New York Times online (yes, it's left-leaning but it's very well written) and BBC online. If I really want to torture myself I read the letters section of Dawn (the English language Pakistani paper) or, for even more fun, the comments on Huffington post.

so you like sipping kool-aid from many bars huh?

Not Bill | 1061 comments Gawd Cyril, the HuffPo? Jeebus those folks are truly frightening. Sometimes I do need to go there but I always feel like I need a shower afterwards. Really bad 70s porn has more entertainment value.

Kelly Olbermann is the Bill O'Reilly of the left. Well, check that, he made his career mocking O'Reilly, right along with Colbert. But he's exactly like him, only on liberal positions. I just happen to agree with his stances... if to a lesser degree. And he has delivered some fantastic smackdowns that I really enjoyed with my blood was boiling about something or other.

I just wish he didn't think he was the second coming of Edward R. Murrow. I'd like him better.

Not Bill | 1061 comments Well Kelly, Olbermann had to make a career of something after his sportscaster career bombed. Hey, if he wants to call the POTUS an asshole fine. Take it on the road as a comedy tour, don't do it on TV and call it news. Seems peoples primarily watch him for validation rather than information gathering.

Kelly I know, I used to watch Sportscenter as a kid primarily because it was funny. One of the reasons I got into sports. I meant his /current/ career.

I do believe he should make his points in a more dignified way, when they're very serious. But I like him being funny when they're not, it lends color and gets people to listen. And honestly, people /should/ be outraged about a lot of things going on in the country, so I wouldn't want him /totally/ passionless. Just.. Edward R. Murrow wouldn't say the President was an asshole, however true that may be. If Olbermann's trying to be him, he's not doing it correctly at all. I wish he, and others like him, didn't feel the need to howl so loud. But I think that's a phenomenon, and can't fairly be blamed on him.
