Plus, there wasn't a lot to read back then if you were lucky enough to be literate! :)

message 152: by Sheila (new)

Sheila (sheilaj) Very good point Sara. Plus I would really miss my iPod.

~Sara~ | 667 comments Maybe you could bring a solar charger back with you? You just wouldn't be able to change the music. :o

Great story, I always want to skim a little bit because of all Mac's rambling but since I do like her a lot I can refrain most of the time, I can't wait for her and Barrons to get together.

Barrons was too much of a prick for me to like in the first book. I really didn't like the interactions between him and Mac. Does he improve or am I likely to continue not liking him? I gave up on the series after the first.

message 156: by Fran, Moderator (new)

Fran | 12278 comments I just finished Darkfever today and although I agree with you about Barrons, Sara, I still loved the book. So Yz, I guess put me under the Bloodfever title with this one but I am still going to get Bloodfever in before the deadline- ran to the library and got it today.

message 157: by Miss (new)

Miss | 330 comments Sara, Fran, Barrons remains frustrating trough most of the series, but he does get steadily more likeable and you really get to love him by books 4 and 5. It really was an amazing series!

message 158: by ~Megan~ (new)

~Megan~ (megadee) I finished Bloodfever yesterday and gave it 4 stars!

message 159: by Miss (new)

Miss | 330 comments Finished White Witch, Black Curse on 02/08, 4 stars. Also read the next in the series, Black Magic Sanction - 02/09 - which was much better, 4.5 stars.

message 160: by Vanessa (new)

Vanessa (vanessamc) | 394 comments I just finished Beyond the Highland Mist in about 24 hours. It's a great start to the Highlander series, and had me hooked from the very start of the book. I gave it 5 stars!

message 161: by Melanie (new)

Melanie (melaina) | 1339 comments Oh, I didn't sign up but finished Bloodfever on 01/28:-D

message 162: by Fran, Moderator (new)

Fran | 12278 comments I finished Bloodfever today and loved it! The last 1/4 was so intense. Can't wait for the next one.

message 163: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments I've just finished Bloodfever today and love it as well!! (I read it with Fran... I was a bit slower!! LOL!) I know some have said it was more a filler book, but I disagree. This book added more layers to the Mac's world and it all feels like it belongs together. I still love Barrons! So hard and enigmatic! :)

message 164: by Shelley (new)

Shelley | 141 comments I'm in on this one. I finished Bloodfever on Feb 9. I loved this book. It was a reread before I start Shadowfever.

message 165: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments I'm probably going to read Into the Dreaming which is the one highlander book I haven't read yet (or don't remember reading)

It's a novella Dee and IMO, not as good as the full books. But worth reading I guess - I keep forgetting how it goes as well. I know I've read it twice! LOL!

message 167: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments I think I may have read it in the past, because I know I have the anthology its in and have had it for a whiel - I just don't remember reading it

It's funny that I have the same impression. I read it like over a year ago, but I can't remember much of it.

I'm thinking that after Shadowfever that little novella might have more meaning.

message 169: by Yz the Whyz, Moderator (new)

Yz the Whyz (whyz) | 9327 comments Finished listening to Shadowfever last night. All I can say is WOW! KMM tied up her story with a neat pretty bow while giving us a wild ride of unexpected twists and turns. I give it 5 stars.

message 170: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments i though the same about shadowfever...according to her website into the dreaming is supposed to be book 4.5 (or something like that) - so I don't know if it goes into what happened to Avile or not

message 171: by SandyC (new)

SandyC (sandyc88) | 1287 comments I finished Bloodfever and gave it 4 stars overall, mainly for the last 1/4 or so. I suppose in a 5-part series the author can afford to take her sweet time in establishing a romance or answering questions about the mysterious Barrons (or whatever his real name is). This book certainly left me wanting to read the next one!

message 172: by Daffodil (new)

Daffodil (daffodil--ripcranberry) | 1058 comments Reread Darkfever and Bloodfever in prep of finishing out the rest of the series.

Darkfever, KMM, 2-17-11
4 stars. Still a great read the second time around. I'd forgotten about Mac's funny side comments, so had a few good laughs mixed in with the darker aspects.

Bloodfever, KMM, 2-21-11
4 Stars. Moning draws you right into Mac's world. She's had to change a lot in order to survive and I'm looking forward to book 3.

message 173: by Joyce (last edited Feb 23, 2011 04:56PM) (new)

Joyce (eternity21) | 739 comments I finished Bloodfever****1/2 on 2/22/11 I loved it as much as the first book. I can't wait to find out what happens next to our dear Mac and Jericho.

I agree with you Jane, it gives so many layers to Mac. She is a survivor and willing to do anything to do so.

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments I'm planning to read Faefever in March - hope this random thread pulls another 'fever' book out for me!! :)

message 176: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments Not even 1 left?? Dang! - that will teach me for being a bit slow!

...Dee was right - no more fever books! :(
Guess I'll read the next Sookie book... Club Dead

message 182: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments have a safe trip Yz! let us know if you need anything!

I've read Dream a Little Dream but I think I still have one of the later Chicago Stars books to read - Natural Born Charmer i think

message 183: by MsOPP (new)

MsOPP | 39 comments I'm in for March. I will be reading Tithe.

message 184: by Lacy (new)

Lacy (lacy_stewart) | 1966 comments I'm in for Dream a little dream!

message 185: by ~Sara~ (new)

~Sara~ | 667 comments I think I'll read The Perks of Being a Wallflower but I'm in line at the library so that may change.

message 186: by Fran, Moderator (new)

Fran | 12278 comments @Sara, I just picked that one up from the library yesterday to read for this list. Let me know if you end up getting it and if you want to read it together :)

I'm in for March - I'll read My Big Fat Supernatural Wedding.

message 189: by Joyce (new)

Joyce (eternity21) | 739 comments I think I'm in for My Big Fat Supernatural Wedding

message 190: by MsOPP (new)

MsOPP | 39 comments I read Tithe and did not really like it. The protagonist is offensive in her chain smoking and her love of shoplifting. The book seemed like it could have been better if the characters would have been more fleshed out and thee book was not trying so hard to fit in a YA mold.

message 191: by ~Sara~ (new)

~Sara~ | 667 comments I just finished The Perks of Being a Wallflower (3/3**) and, although I didn't particularly like the writing or the main character, the story was actually really interesting. The novel is written as a series of letters to an anonymous "friend" throughout his first year of high school so I really liked that you find out more about him and his friends through each letter. Regardless of whether I liked it or not, it's a book that I don't think I'll easily forget.

message 192: by Fran, Moderator (new)

Fran | 12278 comments I also finished The Perks of Being a Wallflower (3/2 ***). I agree with Sara that the story was interesting, I liked several of the supporting characters and was curious to see if and how they were able to pull themselves together and navigate those difficult high school years.

message 193: by Lacy (new)

Lacy (lacy_stewart) | 1966 comments Lacy wrote: "I'm in for Dream a little dream!"

I finished Dream A Little Dream by Susan Elizabeth Phillips today 3/4/11. I would probably give this one 4.5 stars if I could. I enjoyed reading this, the characters seem real, and I liked the side story.

message 194: by Gen (new)

Gen (gen454) | 282 comments I finished A Touch of Dead and gave it ★★★.

I love the Sookie Stackhouse series, but in this anthology, I missed the romance. I wanted to see Eric in each stories but I was not so lucky :(

Gen, I totally felt the same way!! Love, love, love the series. Not so much the short stories. I'm just not an anthology kind of gal I guess. I enjoy Eric also!!

It was my first anthology book, and I must say that I am not a fan.

About Eric:
Right now, I just can't believe I'm gonna see Eric naked and vulnerable on the road in True blood. The fourth book was my second favorite.

I haven't let myself watch True Blood. I saw a trailer and it looked so graphic...I just couldn't get up the nerve to watch. I don't mind reading the scenes in a book because I can skim through....AND I have a feeling if I started now, I'd be hooked!!! :)

message 198: by Sheila (new)

Sheila (sheilaj) I finished The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane by Katherine Howe on 3/11.

What a great find. I gave this one ★★★★★’s. I would have NEVER read this book except for wanting to participate in this challenge. I loved it. Thanks. That is the great thing about these challenges, you end up reading books that you probably would not have chosen and end up finding a gem like this book.

What a great group this is!

message 199: by Joann (new)

Joann | 973 comments Just finished My Big Fat Supernatural Wedding anthology on 03.13.11.

It's fun to kick back and read short stories every now and then. My favorites were the shorts from P.N. Elrod and Susan Krinard. Overall, it was an enjoyable read.

message 200: by KarenF (new)

KarenF (cleocleveland) | 1099 comments I hope it's OK I'm jumping in on this list because one of the other lists I was following jumped off in a direction where nothing was appealing to me. AND I've already read one of these books for a March challenge anyway so it's almost like cheating. :)

I read Dream a Little Dream on March 2. It was my first SEP book and I should have read the reviews before starting because I was expecting something more comedic and lighthearted. But once I shifted my mindset to a more serious read I ended up really liking it and gave it 4 stars.
