Yvonne (selana) Or I could read the most recent Sookie, although I heard the newest one isn't great.

I have read them all and must say, I'm not impressed with the newest... though I do love the whole series

Dragana,
I hope you read Twilight- I loved it! I know there are tons of haters out there, but I loved the whole series.

I've read the whole series up until the most recent one and I love it too. I probably should just read it already :)

message 404: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments ummm, well I didn't cry, but most people argue that i'm a heartless bitch at times...lol! the second one was more emotional to me than the first, but it was still thought-provoking

Fran wrote: "Dee wrote: "If I stay is good fran and its short, there is a sequel called When She Went"

Super sad? I'm a wimp and not in the mood for a sob fest :)"

Then you definitely should read it... especially if you intend to continue the series. I certainly will, am looking forward to the next one. And of course I hope that it will be as good as the earlier ones again

message 406: by Fran, Moderator (new)

Fran | 12278 comments LOL Dee! There is no way you are a heartless bitch. A good friend of mine very recently lost her 17 year old daughter and it's a raw, touchy subject for me right now. That's why I'm iffy on that one. Maybe I'll read the beginning and see how it goes.

message 407: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments the basic premise - spoilers abound!! (view spoiler)

With popularity always come a crowd of haters also. I reserve my judgement until I read the books. :)

I watched the movie and I was not blown away but did not think it is that bad either. Although I must admit that a watched Vampires Suck also, and I laughed my heart out.

message 409: by Fran, Moderator (new)

Fran | 12278 comments I admit to laughing out loud to Vampires Suck too! The Twilight books are so much better than the movies, in my opinion.

message 410: by Vi (new)

Vi | 2794 comments I'm in the middle group - I liked the first book but it was downhill from there. I read the last book - Breaking Dawn but I was cringing almost every chapter. It was the worst in the series. To sum up, I'm apathetic about the series but hate the last book.

message 411: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments Twilight is the Kindle Daily Deal today on amazon - I want to say its 2.99 in case anyone needs it

message 412: by Fran, Moderator (last edited Feb 14, 2012 07:09AM) (new)

Fran | 12278 comments Vi, I agree that the first book is the best and the last book is the worst in the series. But I still loved the series as a whole. But Stephenie Meyer did kind of lose her way in the last one- so over the top.

message 413: by Barbara ★ (new)

Barbara ★ | 3901 comments I will read Just Like Heaven (Smythe-Smith Quartet #1) by Julia Quinn .

I so agree with you... I liked the first book enough to buy the rest of the series, but after the last book I dread re-reading the series because I know how it ends and how over the top the last one is. It felt as if she had pressed 3 books into one to come to an end, things that had been established before were suddenly not true any more and the whole story was too predictable

message 415: by Jane (PS), Moderator (last edited Feb 15, 2012 03:18PM) (new)

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments My least liked book was the second book - what a whining useless female!!! Jeez - get a backbone I say! ;) (I'm referring to New Moon)

message 416: by Sandra (new)

Sandra | 4260 comments Sounds like I may have been lucky when I stopped at Twilight.

message 417: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments Well, I kept reading Sandra, so I wasn't too put off ;) *Just incredibly frustrated for the first half*

message 418: by Sandra (new)

Amy ~Lover of Books~ | 957 comments Dee wrote: "Twilight is the Kindle Daily Deal today on amazon - I want to say its 2.99 in case anyone needs it"

I have all the Twilight books in hardcover sitting on my shelf unread.

Valorie | 2218 comments I finished Dead Reckoning and thought it was another great book in the Sookie saga. Really enjoyed it, 4 stars.

message 421: by Yvonne (new)

Yvonne (selana) One good thing if being sick is that I've got plenty of time to read. Finished Tempting the Beast for the Breeds series today. Just two stars, the story is too thin to support all the sex scenes - and even those are repetitive

message 422: by Yz the Whyz, Moderator (new)

Yz the Whyz (whyz) | 9327 comments This weekend I finished two Breeds books: Tempting the Beast and Kiss of Heat. I rated them both 4 stars.

message 423: by Vi (new)

Vi | 2794 comments I finished Legend on 25 Feb. I rated it 4 stars. The story takes place in a dystopian world. The world seemed much more complex. The book was tightly packed and most of the time, I couldn't put the book down. Unfortunately, the author did not explain the world - there was a lot of questions. I'll be picking out the next book in the series when it comes out.

message 424: by Sandra (new)

Sandra | 4260 comments I forgot to come back and post *slaps hand*

I read Tanner's Scheme on 21 Feb, 4 stars. Somehow I'd missed this one and now I'm up to #22 Styx's Storm.

I finished If I Stay (If I Stay, #1) by Gayle Forman today. This book was so touching and sad!! If you're a musician, you'll really appreciate the characters because the family is very passionate and musically talented. I will definately be reading the next book in the series.

message 426: by [deleted user] (new)

I finished Legend by Marie Lu on [3/2/2012] and am giving it 3*. To be honest I had such great expectations for this book and it was definitely a quick and interesting read. But I got a feeling that there was a lot of room for much more - for more thorough descriptions, for more emotions, for more interactions, etc. I was leaning toward 4 stars even, but then decided for less - the main two heroines are badass and legendary and all that and I can understand why they fall for each other and why should I cheer for them, but I don't feel the chemistry. I can see it, but can't feel it. "/

message 427: by Dragana (new)

Dragana (diaryofthebookdragon) Finished Twilight today (for Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer). 3 star rating.
This was a quick read, but to me not so amazing.
I already watched the movie, and I must say the book does not differ much from it. It was very similar to me. I am not interested at the moment to read the rest of the series, maybe later when I forget about it...

Barbara ★ | 3901 comments I finished Just Like Heaven (Smythe-Smith Quartet, #1) by Julia Quinn yesterday and loved it. 5 stars!

message 429: by Nicola (new)

Nicola | 649 comments I finished Dead in the Family (Sookie Stackhouse, #10) by Charlaine Harris today. I gave it **. I was disappointed in this story, and struggled to finish it. I didn't think that anything really happened - even though many of the events in the story could have been very dramatic. I guess I was just not drawn into the story line - everything appeared so matter of fact and mundane. I didn't feel that I ever HAD to know what was going to happen next.

I guess one can only keep up the momentum for so long.
Do you really think it is worth my going back to the beginning of the series?

Oh yes.. Each book develops the characters and you can see why they do what they do in the following books. I thought you read the series. I am sorry. If you can go back to the begin I do recommend it. In reading it I really changed how I felt about certain characters. just think that it is fizzing out. I mean 10 books is awesome but it has the same main ones so it's not like other series where 1 character has their own book. I think that the TV series True Blood which is based on the books is well suited though if you watch that.

I haven't watched the show - but may try book one then. Do you recall what it is called? Hopefully I can fit it into one of my challenges.

message 434: by Fran, Moderator (new)

Fran | 12278 comments Nicola,
The first one is Dead Until Dark. I really like the whole series. I agree with Carolyn that you should start at the beginning, the characters and world-building work better if read in order.

message 435: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments I liked this one, but Where She Went which finishes their story was more emotional for me

Nicola | 649 comments Darn! Just finished Never Let Me Go! I would have waited had I known. Gotta search for one of the others now.

Would one of the Stephanie Plum series work for completing this challenge?

message 440: by Kim (new)

Kim | 295 comments I am going to read Incarnate. It's on my read next list.

message 441: by Kim (last edited Mar 23, 2012 03:37PM) (new)

Kim | 295 comments I finished Incarnate. I didn't really like this one at all. I only gave it one star and won't read the others in the series. I guess I am not a fan of the recarnation theme.

Amy ~Lover of Books~ | 957 comments I'll read Dark Inside (Dark Inside, #1) by Jeyn Roberts

message 443: by Yvonne (new)

Yvonne (selana) I have started Never Let Me Go last night. I'm still a bit confused about the world setting, but I like the writing style so far and am intrigued to find out more

message 444: by Nicola (last edited Apr 02, 2012 05:30AM) (new)

Nicola | 649 comments I finished Two for the Dough for Plum Lucky. I gave it 3 stars.
(Does this work?)
Two for the Dough (Stephanie Plum, #2) by Janet Evanovich

message 445: by Fran, Moderator (new)

Fran | 12278 comments I finished Will Grayson, Will Grayson today 4/2. There were moments I really liked in this book; small moments between a parent and a teen, a heartfelt talk between friends. But most of this book was a little scattered for me. Maybe it was due to having two authors and two voices. I gave it 3 stars, maybe 3.5.

message 446: by Vi (new)

Vi | 2794 comments I finished Will Grayson, Will Grayson today 4 april. I'm giving it 3 stars. The book didn't really work that well for me but I'll be picking out each author's book.

message 447: by Yz the Whyz, Moderator (new)

Yz the Whyz (whyz) | 9327 comments I finished just now The Iron Queen for Kagawa's The Iron King. I give it 5 stars. It's my favorite so far.

message 448: by Dragana (new)

Dragana (diaryofthebookdragon) I finished yesterday Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro. I started reading it expecting science fiction novel so I was very disappointed with drama/human behavior study I got instead. Just one star for me, I did not like this book.
Here's my whole review

message 449: by Joann (last edited Apr 09, 2012 06:15PM) (new)

Joann | 973 comments I finished Incarnate on 04.03.12 and rated it 3 stars.

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments I can't see me fitting any of these books in before the expiry date, so I'll just wait for the next round :)
