About 1,143.

Yeah, I can't figure out how my GR owned list says I own 1,158, my excel spreadsheet says I own 1,143, and there are some on my spreadsheet that I've never input to GR. One of those insoluble math problems.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I own about 40ish books maybe? in hardback/paperback, and quite a few more than that on my Nook.

janine | 7709 comments i think i own between 300 and 350 books, maybe more.

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments hmmm. i will estimate based on shelved books tonight

message 9: by Mary JL (new)

Mary JL (maryjl) | 250 comments Roughly about 1,300. I gave away or sol over 500 books when I moved last year, or it would have been a much larger amount.

message 10: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments This is a good question. I've got maybe 1000 downstairs, in huge plastic tubs, just sitting there, and about 500 on my shelves upstairs. Sooner or later I have to get rid of the basement 1000, before they end up covered in mold.

message 11: by ms.petra (new)

ms.petra (mspetra) not more than 100. I mostly use the library and tend to buy art/coffee table books, the few classics I would reread, travel guides, a couple of signed volumes, and some cool antique books.

RA, if you're interested in cataloging them, I might be willing to take them off your hands for a reasonable fee.

Or you can try Swap.com if you want to trade them for other books, CDs, or DVDs/Blu-Rays.

Sarah | 13814 comments I don't think I should count.

Michele bookloverforever (lovebooks14) | 1970 comments I've had to move 3 times in the past 10 yrs. so I am down to about 400 now.

I like this comparison. We're all bookophiles.

Shirley (shirleythekindlereader) I own a small bookstore .... in my home! This is my retirement library ..... 3000 + and most all are sorted and shelved. This is my retirement dream....a library and the time to read most of it before I die. I keep adding to the TBR pile and the wishlist, thanks to goodreads and recommendations by GR friends.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments No idea, but less than I did a year ago. I've been taking bags and bags of books to Half-Price Books, and I still have eight bookcases full.

Hmm, I just posted pictures of three of the bookcases on FB the other day, and those have 363, as best as I can count. So I'd guess I have at least 1,000 books right now. Geez...

message 18: by Michele (new)

Michele bookloverforever (lovebooks14) | 1970 comments I live in my sister in laws house w/her brother (not the one who is my ex-spouse. I have 2 bookcases (7' w by 5.5' high 4 huge shelves each...there is a limit to how much she'll let me store. I buy what I reread the most and borrow the rest from the library...but I miss my old collection of 1500 books.

message 19: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca (rebreadsit) | 2 comments Who knows? I had more before I got married, but my husband already had too many to store. I had to give my prized collection of trashy detective novels to Goodwill. Two days after we got back from the honeymoon, the Goodwill bookstore sign read "Half-price sale / 1000s of new titles." Sigh. At least I'll never have to buy a new bookcase for my Kindle books.

message 20: by Jammies (new)

Jammies My book collection is currently in the neighborhood of 2,000 books.

message 21: by Joanne (new)

Joanne (bonfiggi) I own hundreds, I've given away hundreds. I have some very old ones, and some favorites I can't part with.

message 22: by Janice (new)

Janice (jamasc) I'm don't think I could even wager a guess. I'd have to gather them from the far corners of the farm. There are some in the "guest cottage" (which is really a storage shed), and some in every room of the house. I'm sure I'd even find some in the holiday trailer.

message 23: by Auntie (new)

Auntie Raye-Raye (fabulousraye) I'm not sure. I have more books then shelves to put them on. I'd guess maybe around 1,000.
