Please delete this book! (pt. 5)

p.s. I'm working on the 2008 nonfiction shelf.
Are you worrying about merging into another audiobook edition? Or ignoring that?
When I noticed, I merged to an audiobook. I probably missed some though.

...I'll let someone else decide if it should be merged with any specific edition before being deleted (which it needs a super-librarian for) ;)

and *shrug* for the most part, I didn't worry about whether they'd been shelved as audiobook. There were just too many to check each darn time.

Yeah.
I am concerned that her read shelf (and a couple others) are still non-functional. But I imagine MICHAEL is working on 'em, or will be shortly.

BTW - did she respond to your message about the issue? I just want to make sure she isn't going to keep adding more that will need fixing.

And on the bright side, I see the person added a book today - the right way!

And thanks to MICHAEL! And everyone else who worked on this one.

I thought it was presented as an option to newbies, but it's been a while since I joined -- I could be misremembering.
It's the "help" link at the bottom of each page.

50 some odd MORE books manually added.

This royally sucks! Would I be out of bounds if I emailed support and suggested the person's account be frozen until they understand the system? Because this is getting ridiculous

Kathleen - You are such a passionate reader! Goodreads is such a great place to keep track of all the books we've read - isn't it? Just remember to do a search for the book you want to add before you add it manually. I'm afraid you're keeping us librarians awfully busy combining the entries you are adding with actual editions of all the many books on your shelves. All you have to do is search for the title or author and you'll 99% of the time see that the book you want to add is probably already in the Goodreads database. There's an information piece about adding books here or you can feel free to message me with any questions you might have.
PS. I'll have to look through your books to see which ones I need to add to my "to read" group!
Let's see if that helps - if not .... then let's regroup.

And thanks for working on those new ones. I just didn't have the patience for it tonight and decided to do some actual reading ;)

I'll keep an eye on her profile page for new additions...

Beautifully put. Is there someplace that things like this can be stored to be used as a template should the same situation come up again? (Yikes!) Or do we just have to rely on the memories of others who have not developed the sieve syndrome in their brain that I have?

Isis, Very good point.

But doesn't an email get delivered to a regular mailbox when someone messages you? All she has to do is follow that link, right?

I can't remember but I do think that is the default, yes.
It is the default. But people can easily ignore emails too, right?
It was a lovely message, Melody. I hope it does the trick!

Yes, I have a friend on Goodreads who gave her junk mail email address to them and never reads her GR emails. I've learned if I want to recommend a book or otherwise communicate with her about Goodreads stuff, I need to email her directly, not via Goodreads. I'm sure she's not the only GR member who doesn't read GR emails.
I work at a small college, and regularly send out emails to students and faculty members -- frequently with critically important information. It's amazing how many people ignore them. :P
So people ignoring GR emails surprises me not one whit.

This sticks out since the author name is reversed (Last First) - no ISBN info and nothing listed as far as it being on shelves, but I don't know if that precludes someone having it unrated but added to their read shelf.
I'm a librarian but have never deleted a book before, so I wanted to check in first before doing so.
