When you add a quote, start typing the author's name and allow the auto-fill to offer suggestions. Choose the correct one. The system will then prompt you with the option to choose one of their books from a drop-down.

I can't even find the place to begin adding the quote. i've got a whole txt file full that I'm dying to share— any idea how i should start?

Then you go here:
http://www.goodreads.com/quotes/new
No. And considering that the page number will not agree between different editions, and the quite will be linked to all editions, there probably will never be.

I often see quotes that have the page number (or sometimes Kindle location) included in the body of text. Should they be edited to have this removed?

to this book.

I had shared this quote from Craving U, but it disappeared:
"And you have to believe me when I tell you that no one could ever be as beautiful as you are at this very moment, because I could never want anyone more than I want you right now."
Help! What's the matter?
Thanks a lot!

Should be paired to Mort
If someone would be so kind.

When I type his name, it shows me another author with the same name

What to do?

It worked .. Thanks a lot :)

But how to link it to the book then?

I first add a quote under the wrong name, if you could please delete it (and the author name as well) : https://www.goodreads.com/author/quot...
Thanks a lot !

Say I want to add a quote for a book of poetry, but I want to maintain line breaks and indentation formatting. Can I use HTML in a quote to facilitate this?

Thanks for replying Rafael. Well the book is 88 Short Stories which is a collection of stories. It's true that some of the stories have appeared in other collections or that the original French versions for a few may appear as individual books - so I could add the quote to those books but, for me, that's incorrect and a waste of time because the quotes I wish to add are a specific translation from a specific book and it would be nice if they appeared under the correct book. i.e. anyone looking at the book on GR would see the quotations from that book.
As it is I've just added them as quotes by Maupassant and not attached to any book. I'm guessing that the book doesn't appear on the list because it doesn't have any reviews - maybe when I finish and review the book it will appear on the drop-down.

I tried to add quotes too and I also cannot add a quote for this book.
I also don't know why this is happening.

Thanks Rafael

I rated the book yesterday and today I have been able to attach the quotations to the book—see here. So it looks like those book without a rating don't appear on the drop-down.
Thanks for taking time to look at this Rafael.
It's not that unrated books don't show up on the dropdown -- they usually do. It's that rating it probably forced the table that feeds the dropdown to reindex.

Oh, ok, that's interesting...thanks for the input rivka.

To be added to this book: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...
Thanks!

They are here.

A book page is not updated immediately (except for author/blurb/publisher etc changes) so you will need to wait a little while.

Done

Done"
Thanks!

my Quote link

When selecting the author, you have to add his name as Kevin^^Hart, where ^ is one space, so two spaces between first and last name. This is the way GR separates authors with the same name. When adding the 2-space Kevin Hart, you should get a dropdown where the right book can be selected.

I'll give that a try. Thank you!
Update: That worked perfectly. Thanks again

To be clear, not this one: Captain Corelli’s Mandolin
But this one: Corelli's Mandolin

When I test it, and pick "Corelli's Mandolin" from the dropdown, the correct edition: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3... is linked to the quote.
What is strange, and I can't tell if this has always been the case, or if this was recently changed on purpose, or being a bug, is that editions like the Penguin Reader version where Louis de Bernieres is not listed as primary author (Mary Tomalin is listed first, as should be, because it is an adaptation) is showing in the drop-down list of books by Louis de Bernieres when entering a quote by him. (And there is a third edition with a similar name on the drop-down list, also with a different primary author: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...).
