-_- what ashley did had nothing to do with it but the fact there was democratics and republics. If I said SUCH AS that'd be immplying. Or saying "Different views, democratic and republic." It was a example a comparasion A SIMILE (which means (ex) Her eyes where like big brown buttons NOT her eyes are big brown buttons.

Adeolu (quoter) | 685 comments " Each Pair has different views..like Democratic and Republic. "
^that was the main thing that would cause a reader to believe a government is what you meant. You didn't explicitly state that they were examples, rather you said "like" which implied that that would be the setup.

" Government or Head of The Gods System "
^ when you mentioned gov't before giving your example you put our minds in a state where we would be considering gov'ts, this was further reinforced when you used gov'ts as your example. Any other example would have created an odd feeling in us, and we would have asked. Rather when you started with gov't and then led to your example with gov't you established and made even more firm the idea that you wanted a gov'ts based system.

Wanting anything otherwise you should have given at least one more example or give a prototype system yourself.

I disagree because government could be anything like monarchy or anarchy. Democratic and Republic are parties for a form of government.

message 105: by Adeolu (last edited Nov 21, 2010 05:25PM) (new)

Adeolu (quoter) | 685 comments Democratic and Republic(an)s are gov'ts.
A democracy is a gov't where the people vote on issues while a republic is a gov't where the people are represented. And if that was the case, why didn't you include the word parties?

I said different veiws and a party is pretty much the same thing in the way I used it.

message 107: by Adeolu (new)

Adeolu (quoter) | 685 comments A party is similar in terms of issues, which is a detail you neglected to mention. Without any details political parties can be mixed up with political ideologies.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Governments "A government is the organization, or agency through which a political unit exercises its authority, controls and administers public policy, and directs and controls the actions of its members or subjects." Then it has a list of governments, such as a democracy.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Politica... A political party is a political organization that typically seeks to influence government policy, usually by nominating their own candidates and trying to seat them in political office

message 110: by Adeolu (new)

Adeolu (quoter) | 685 comments But we're talking about different views, and seeing how republic and democratic are indeed different views of gov't it is very possible for us to mix them up.

message 112: by Adeolu (new)

Adeolu (quoter) | 685 comments That you meant political parties as just an example rather then gov'ts as your actual meaning.

Each pair has different veiws and each pair are apart of the government just the same as how political parties make up are democracy of a government.

message 114: by Adeolu (new)

Adeolu (quoter) | 685 comments Actually political parties make up both the democracy and republic part of our gov't.

While each pair of parties have different views, republics and democracies also have different views.

Sorry but I don't think I see your point exactly. Why should it have been obvious that you meant the political parties rather then the actual gov'ts?

republic's not a government it's a party. democracy is a governement. DemoCRATIC is a party. DemoCRACY and demoCRATIC are not the same.

because I was talking about the government. Such as(Example) President, Vice President, Secrutary ext. And I was saying how each pair (a pair would be something like president and Vice president) have different veiws. Mcain and Palin have different veiws than Obama and Biden.

Mcain and Palin where both Republics and Obama and Biden where both democrats.

Does that make since? If not then I give up.

message 116: by Adeolu (new)

Adeolu (quoter) | 685 comments Republic is a gov't. Its where the people and their wants are represented. [ie the senate, ancient rome]
Democracy means the people make their points and what they want in their gov'ts [ie Ancient greece]

Then why didn't you point that out in the first place?

It makes sense, its just that you didn't clarify it enough at first. Our current problem is completely from the misinterpretation from lack of enough detail. If you really want the main gods to follow your points, argue with Ashley. And if you can beat her in an arguement, and convince her of your points: I will gladly submit that I was wrong.

I was clear enough. If you read it then you should have got it because of what I jsut said.

And we are a democracy not a republic so we shoudln't be even saying that word we should be saying republican (which is a party). So my bad? I think..bleh I dunno but you get the point!

It's a democracy with partis such as democratics and Republicans.

GOVERNMENTS
DemoCRACY
Republic

PARTIES
DemocraTICS
RepubliCANS

Democratics not a government, democracy is.
Republicans not a government, republis is.

message 120: by Adeolu (last edited Nov 21, 2010 06:16PM) (new)

Adeolu (quoter) | 685 comments We subconsciously assumed it was a typo and corrected it in our minds. How often, outside of a political debate about the current gov't, do you hear the words "democratics" and "republicans" used without the word "party" trailing?

No, its a democratic republic because we vote for our representatives [democracy] and then we have congress [republic].

[ http://thesquibler.blogspot.com/2007/... ]V
"What right does every American citizen get when they turn the age of 18?"
"Ummm.... the right to vote."
"Duh!!! And who do they vote in?"
"Oh.... stupid me officials to run the government. "
"Duh, a democracy."
"Wait!!! Don't get to cocky."
"What do we have Congress for?"
"Oh, yeah, a Republic."

but they're parties!!! Just like a labrador is a dog! It shouldn't need to be implied.

And to your little thingy above...

House of representatices-republiCAN
Congress-demoCRATIC (I belive)
Government- DemoCRACY

message 124: by Adeolu (new)

Adeolu (quoter) | 685 comments But Labrador can't easily be confused with something thats a larger form. For instance, you wouldn't confuse a labrador dog with the word mammal. But republican/democratic can be easily confused with republic/democrat.

Uhm no, an entire part of the gov't can't be for one party. That would make the house pointless. The congress is the democratic part of our gov't and then house of representatives is the republic part.
Our entire gov't is a democratic republic because its made up of two separate parts that are democratic and republic.

I'm glad neither are you are listening to what I'm saying AGAIN!

Yes that's true adeolu that a representative DEMOCRACY is part of republic therefore that is one of the reasons why we are a democratic republic government but considered a democracy. Second is because of our to major parties but this fact is a minor point. If I have to repeat my self one more fucking time Im getting the cheapest plan ticket and flying out to wherever you are and am going to...Idk yell in your face? haha..ok not really but yeah you get my friggin point (said that several times also)!

message 145: by Adeolu (last edited Nov 22, 2010 05:11PM) (new)

Adeolu (quoter) | 685 comments A representative democracy is a type of republic. Yes that one word is very important because a representative democracy being a part of a republic would require it to always be true, while it is not. If the kind is elected, that is a republic. But its still not a representative democracy.

We are not considered a democracy just because part of our government is representative. To the rest of the world the USA seems like the perfect mix of a democracy and a republic. That is what the founding fathers wanted. That is what we have.

1st paragraph..WHAT I JUUUUUUST SAID FOO!-_-

2nd paragraph...I know!..ok last attempt to explain this...haven't you ever head anyone say something like "dammit this is a democracy people?" ..or something like. "This is a democracy! *founds fist on table and stands up*" I've heard people in our government say this plus in 6th grade I learned that the u.s was a democracy government and I have also proved that multiple times.

message 147: by Adeolu (last edited Nov 22, 2010 05:25PM) (new)

Adeolu (quoter) | 685 comments -_- You just created and successfully employed a straw man argument. Congratulations. As your reward you now have my eternal disdain.

They are misinformed. Its not that uncommon. Do you know exactly what your politicians plan to do? Do realize that few politicians make promises they have no excuse for not keeping? It appears that you just view the terms democracy and republic in a way contrary to what is intended.

democracy-the political orientation of those who favor government by the people or by their elected representatives

Republic-a political system in which the supreme power lies in a body of citizens who can elect people to represent them

A democracy just means that the people have a say in their government. That's why we're a democracy. But we also elect our officials, thus we are also a republic. Do you see how these two can be mistaken for the same thing now?

I think we can go on this for days but neither of us will change are mind because of broad and various definitions.
Ex
http://dictionary.reference.com/brows...

and then there's this definition
http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictio... which is what I meant earlier

The definition is so broad but I believe no matter how long we are debating this neither would believe the other side and this is due to the fact that some people can't read and understand the fact that we have a government made up of different views or parties which was the original starter of this debate and we have trailed off course and into several spam post therefore I say we just drop it because no matter what government u.s is no matter what definition it is we know how are system works and that's all that really matters as well as the fact that we need to get back on course with deciding the government thing for the government order thingy that I posted...for now let's just refer to it as branches

1. I don't think we should use actual parties because that would be too complicated (idk if we're doing that but yeah just putting this out there)
2. We should come up with our own parties and the beliefs and how they work and such. Ex: Republican is the business side where democrats for the working man (or lets just say because I no wanna get into another off topic debate). I kinda would like to see it as this but only different. One sides for morals and values while the other's more for getting rid of a threat or pursuing the law or such. Which leads to my third point
3. Two parties only, Because how my system is set up there's two different sides each side reports to the head government and then the head decides from there.

I also think that we should be able to make our own gods and pretty much call them. EX: Ashley calls head queen (Saying queen because I'm assuming one person of the head gov is a female and one's a male). Then from there she can make the character because to me personally I can't get into the rp unless I have my own visual of the character and come up with it myself.

Make sense?

message 149: by Adeolu (last edited Nov 22, 2010 06:06PM) (new)

Adeolu (quoter) | 685 comments hahaha, it almost sounded like you were still saying I was wrong at the end but: I accept your conditions, and so the great debate ends.

1. Wize move
2. They're just political parties, no where near as important as the actual gov'ts themselves. We could do this. Like make it inherent to each of the gods. And spread it so that each side has an equal number of gods who see things a certain way with a certain set of values.
3. That leaves 4 gods and so 2 for each side. We can split that rather evenly

I like it, and not just because its the only other idea we have. It won't be hard to integrate the 2 systems.

heheh yeah I realized that and was like GRR *edit edit edit!!!*

and thanks. I mean that's where I thought we where headed just because it sounded like common sense because of how I kinda set it up and then when ashley posted her thing I was confused (which I still don't quite get) so I decided to like...just end the debate and finally gather my thoughts!..which I should do more often.
