On Monday 9/24, I finished
which I thought was a terrific series starter with lots to offer: historical, paranormal, gothic, romance and psychic abilities. And in the next book...werewolves.
finished
today. ★★★★light and fluffy read with some amusing one-liners. major suspension of disbelief required. XD
I finished
yesterday (27 Sep). I agree with what Ty said but my I gave it 3 stars. There's a sequel but I'm on the fence to read it.
I agree, definite suspension of belief. But it made me smile the whole time. I read somewhere that the sequel is the last one and the series isn't be continued. Makes me not want to rush out and read it.
Agreed, Fran. I was smiling and occasionally laughing. It's the obvious sequel bait that irritated me. And the fact of the physical stuff about the Cheerleaders. But then, we don't have cheerleaders here so I really can't say. The sequel was out in 2008 so I figured the author isn't going to continue. I don't want to read the sequel if the loose ends esp involving Jack Peyton aren't tied up. I'm suspecting not. Which makes me not so eager to read the sequel.
From the reviews, it doesn't seem as tho many readers are as enthusiastic about the sequel as the first. While I enjoyed the first, nothing in it really compels me to want to read the sequel, particularly the non-existent chemistry with Jack. I did love her brother though and found their sibling relationship and his girl-crazy attitude to be pretty much the only realistic thing in the book.
I know it wasn't realistic, but Toby's snarky attitude and the whole idea that the 'air-brained' cheerleaders were really just acting the expected role and were really talented, unique girls really entertained me.

Vi wrote: "I'm torn between

. Decisions"I really loved Grave Mercy -- read it earlier this year (for SOS Bingo, in fact). Not what I was expecting, but for me, in a good way.
I finished
today 10/23.This was a cute, fast-paced YA mystery. There was snarky dialogue (which I really like) and the story never left me bored. But there was a lot of notes/writing at the bottom of the pages that took you out of the story a bit, and while it was cute in the beginning, it got annoying after awhile.
Overall I enjoyed it. There is only 1 more in the series and I read that the author won't be writing any more in the series. This one ended on a good note so I am satisfied with leaving it at that. 4*
just finished
today. ★★★½Great read, very light on the romance, but reading all the ways to kill a man was quite intriguing :). I can't help feeling there was something missing though, particularly in the romance development department, but maybe that's just me being greedy.
I finished
today, 2 Nov. It was an ok book and I rated it 2 stars. Aspects of it were interesting but ultimately, I wasn't really sucked it and I certainly won't remember it. An meh book for me but one that I'd still recommend to others who I think will enjoy it more.
I just finished
Nov. 2nd. I feel like I devoured it. It made me think and it made laugh. I gave it 5 stars.
"Random Book List Challenge #102"I read
last week, and this book was ok. It reminded me a lot of
as far as writing style goes but it was enjoyable.
funny you say that, I read Graceling a couple days after Grave Mercy and saw a lot of similarities also, though I think that Graceling was a much better treatment of the YA/Historical/fantasy-ish aspect.

I was able to borrow Liesl and Po from my library for my Kindle. I am going to read it with my nine year old.
Finished
today. ★★★1/2. fun read, though it dragged in the middle, the finale made up for it. Definitely will finish out the trilogy with Juliana's story!
Anita wrote: "I can read Open Season by Linda Howard. I have 2 copies."Hi Anita!
Welcome to the group. Open Season is part of an old list. The new list is on the first post of the thread. : )
I finished
this weekend, and I adored it. It was an easy read, with some laugh out loud moments and some heartfelt emotions. I give it 4 stars.
"Random Book List Challenge #107I read
and I enjoyed it! It reminded me of that disney movie the Sorcerer's Apprentice with Nicholas Cage. Only the main characters are 15 and in the movie they're college students! Five stars!
