Jessica Rose (jmnelson419) | 15 comments Hi everyone,

I just recently got my nook, and was wondering what kind of cases ya'll were keeping yours safe in?

I found a few I liked online, but after browsing through the cases on Etsy I got inspired and decided to crochet my own. I've gotten a lot of compliments and a few custom orders already on it!

So, do you all have a leather case, or silicone, or something else? I'd love to know!

This is the one that I got when I bought my Nook.. Its nothing special just something that will cover it. Do you have any pic of what you made?

message 3: by Archer (new)

Archer Well me, I kinda feel my nook covers are like purses I own more covers then purses..

Here is one of mine:

http://gifts.barnesandnoble.com/Tuppe...

And this one:

http://gifts.barnesandnoble.com/Alice...

And this one:

http://gifts.barnesandnoble.com/Merce...

So, my favorite are the first two but the last fits right in the front pocket of my purse so it's also great for carrying, but doens't offer much protection of it slipping out of it.

message 4: by Joyce (new)

Joyce (eternity21) This is the one I have now: It is great for standing upright without holding it. It is fairly slim and I don't have to take it out of the case to read it. http://gifts.barnesandnoble.com/Indus...

Jessica Rose (jmnelson419) | 15 comments Oh Joyce I love the easel!

Archer, I have been thinking of making myself a second one, glad to know that I wouldn't be the only one with multiples.

KellyJo--I love Neoprene things, I hadn't seen that one before. I have a neoprene lunch tote that I love. Here is a photo of the one I am currently using that I made: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid...

I just made this one today to put up in my shop, but I love it so much I'm thinking of whipping up one for myself. :) http://www.etsy.com/listing/61082613/...

Jessica Rose (jmnelson419) | 15 comments My friend bought one off Etsy at this shop which is what gave me the idea to make one myself--but I love these! So fun: http://www.etsy.com/shop/ElizabethDav...#

message 10: by Donnajo (new)

Donnajo both of the ones I have one I bought when I bought the nook I thought it was safe which it was but got boring. that one is the brown leather that has the black elastic I believe to hold it close.
I bought the quote one that I loved finally not long ago and what someone had told them about and they had it on display is you get one of those zippered B&N black book holders and if you just open the zipper on top you can slip the nook and out and even put your light in there too. So I've been using that too. Yesterday I bought one o those quote elastic bookmark and I put that length wise along the front of the cover to the side for just something extra but I guess if you get a plain one that would be a idea to make it more interesting. I also bought a small canvas at the needlepoint store I go to and they had cases you can buy that you just insert the canvas when it's done into the spot. I'm looking forward to starting that so I can finish it. That is a red leather case and the canvas is my favorite painting Gustave Klimt's The Kiss.

Jessica Rose (jmnelson419) | 15 comments Thank you kellyjo! I just made a super cute hot pink and grey one for myself. :)

Donnajo I'd love to see the one you are making when you're done!

message 12: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Jessica - the crocheted nook cover is an awesome idea and yours are VERY cute. I am a knitter, so I will definitely have to google knitting patterns for a nook cover. :)

This is the cover I have right now... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?... It is great while eating and reading with the arm that comes out in the back. The only drawback was the home key was covered, so my husband had to carve out a little space for my finger.

message 13: by Jessica (new)

Jessica Rose (jmnelson419) | 15 comments Jennifer--- its so easy you don't even need a pattern. Ill msg you what I did :)

Jessica Rose (jmnelson419) | 15 comments here is the one i made last night that i intended on putting it up in my shop, but it has found it's home around MY nook right now, i love it so much i'm keeping it for myself. I'll have to make a second to go up in the shop. ha!

message 15: by Donnajo (new)

Donnajo Sure don't know when I'll start it since I just finished my monogram that went in a insert on a leather pocket book. Also doing a 4 canvas bear that gets made into a bear for my niece which was supposed to be done for her first xmas and it's not. I'm still on the first canvas. It won't even be finished for her first bd in Feb. So it will be hopefully next xmas if I'm lucky. I just don't work on it alot at home. I seem to read more or online more. I tried to get back to knitting but I'm only a beginner at that too. And I haven't been lucky doing either of the 2 scarves I wanted to make. I keep ending up ripping it out.
Jessica your cover is beautiful.

Jessica Rose (jmnelson419) | 15 comments Thanks Donnajo! I'm over here brainstorming ways to get more exposure to my shop (even though i should be working...hehe) :)

I know I am getting the Nookcolor for Christmas so I am looking at cases now for it. I was thinking the other pink one though with the big N in it.

message 24: by Jessica (new)

Jessica Rose (jmnelson419) | 15 comments I make cases for NOOK Colors too! Check out my shop and look at past sales, I can make them in any color combo :) http://jmnelson419.etsy.com/

I am jealous of all ya'll with Nook Colors! But i love my classic NOOK :)

message 25: by Donnajo (new)

Donnajo I was at B&N for a dvd I was supposed to pick up for someone else that it was on hold for. of course it was a wasted trip because it was the wrong dvd so now I had to order the correct one. So another trip to B&N for me next week. But while there I looked at the new nook area they have. They did alot of moving stuff around. And now rather than it being when you walk in the store it's where customer service used to be. And now they have alot more of the cases out. I saw some nice new ones but right now I can't see buying another case. I love the quote one I'm using and still have to do the needlepoint on I bought. Then if I do buy anything else I'm still hoping for one of the Oberon ones.
They still had free smoothie for nook and just those other type of free essay type books. I downloaded maybe 4 or 5 of those.

message 26: by TheThirdLie (new)

TheThirdLie Gah. I was browsing the cases online and fell in love with this one:

http://gifts.barnesandnoble.com/Brown...

No way in heck I'm gonna spend $200 on a case though. That's just ridiculous.

message 27: by Heather (new)

Heather | 3 comments I just bought a purple one for $30.

I saw that case in the store and it is equally as beautiful in person!!

message 29: by TheThirdLie (new)

TheThirdLie If I see it in store I'll just be even more saddened about the the fact that I can't get it.

message 30: by Hillary (new)

Hillary (eledri) Think of it not as you can't get it but that you have more sense than to spend $200 on a case for a device that can be equally protected in a case that is $20-$40. That case is lovely, but it cost nearly as the device originally did, and that is INSANE.

message 31: by Jean Valjean (OG 2010) (last edited Dec 07, 2010 07:15AM) (new)

Jean Valjean (OG 2010) (courfeyrack) I bought this one the other day. http://gifts.barnesandnoble.com/Lilly... I should be getting it via UPS today. :D I consider it a gift to myself. I mean, it isn't a $200 case, but it was pretty expensive as far as a cover for a device costs. The way I look at it is, as long as your nook is something that you treasure and use REALLY REALY frequently, I wouldn't see the harm in it. To me, my nook is worth waaaaaay more than the $200 I paid for it, and if I broke it, I would be devastated. I literally use my nook every single day for at least an hour, and it's extremely valuable to me, so I don't see the harm in putting it in an expensive case that I like and I know will protect it from harm.

As long as you can justify it to yourself, I don't see why you shouldn't.

message 32: by TheThirdLie (new)

TheThirdLie The nook definitely is worth buying a case for. I have the Alice in Wonderland case and it protects it well... I just can't bring myself to spend $200 on something that, like Hillary said, can be equally protected by a $30 case.

$60 is still pricey for me, but it's not too terrible. Splurging every once in a while for yourself isn't bad either. =]

message 33: by Donnajo (new)

Donnajo Those that have a plain cover on their nook. I bought the quote one awhile back but what I did besides is bought one of those elastic bookmarks that a part of it clips into the other. I think it has a quote on Hope but I know there is one relating to love too. I put that around the front of the cover besides length wise. Then I have the black canvas zippered bookcover I put it all in and that has a handle along the side and I'm able to put my light in there and there is a zippered compartment in front that you can put other stuff. It's just good for extra storage.

Linda Boyd (boydlinda95gmailcom) | 360 comments Nook cases are 30% right now - so if anyone wants to treat themselves to a christmas present - now is the time!! :)

message 35: by Crystalmarie (new)

Crystalmarie (CrystalsNovels) | 37 comments Wow! Thanks for the info, wonder how long they will be on sale, as i dont get paid until next week :(

message 36: by Linda (new)

Linda Boyd (boydlinda95gmailcom) | 360 comments Hopefully they will be on sale for the month of December, I plan to buy a new one myself and may have to wait until the week of Christmas.

Jean Valjean (OG 2010) (courfeyrack) Ohhh that sucks! I literally just bought mine like last freaking week!!

message 38: by Donnajo (new)

Donnajo Last time they did that I was told it was on only certain covers.

message 39: by Linda (new)

Linda Boyd (boydlinda95gmailcom) | 360 comments I found this information on the website, it didn't mention particular covers and there is a "sale" section that has covers there as well. So, my thoughts are the 30% applies to all of the covers, but you may want to check with B&N to confirm before you get your hopes up on a particular one.

message 40: by ★Meghan★ (new)

★Meghan★ (starinheaven) | 340 comments I just looked too since I am getting a Nookcolor for Christmas and wanted to get a new one. However none of the Nookcolor covers are on sale it is only the Nook covers. :(

message 41: by Crystalmarie (new)

Crystalmarie (CrystalsNovels) | 37 comments I wish they would come out with more, does anyone know of a place that sales others?

message 42: by ★Meghan★ (new)

★Meghan★ (starinheaven) | 340 comments There are a few...
Javoedge, M-Edge, and Oberon Design

message 43: by Crystalmarie (new)

Crystalmarie (CrystalsNovels) | 37 comments Thanks :)

message 44: by Donnajo (new)

Donnajo Best buy had some.

message 45: by ★Meghan★ (new)

★Meghan★ (starinheaven) | 340 comments Yeah Best Buy mostly has the M-Edge ones. I bought mine for my Nook and my mom's there.

message 46: by Crystalmarie (new)

Crystalmarie (CrystalsNovels) | 37 comments I really like the hot pink one, that says something along the lines of "and she had her nose in a book"....but 85 dollars is selfish, i would feel bad, knowing it shouldn't be buying for myself around Christmas...hope someone will buy it for me! haha.

Overstock.com has some skins and covers, seem pretty reasonably priced. I don't like the skin I ordered though, makes it too heavy.

Haha I loved that one too. Especially since it is my two favorite colors but I don't want to spend that much either. Maybe if it went to 50% off.

message 49: by Crystalmarie (new)

Crystalmarie (CrystalsNovels) | 37 comments I don't understand why they would charge so much. We paid alot for the nook itself, we should get one for free! lol..... a women can dream.

message 50: by ★Meghan★ (new)

★Meghan★ (starinheaven) | 340 comments I don't know about you but I personally think my Nook was worth every penny! Especially when everything is pricey now if you want something that is worth the buck. I am just fine that I did not get something with it.
