Leonie (leonierogers) | 3564 comments I thought I'd just say hi - I was originally from WA, but we moved to NSW from the Pilbara fourteen years ago. I still have family and friends in WA and am occasionally back in Perth to visit them.

Jennifer Peacock-Smith | 21 comments Hi all, I'm a token Perthon (as my children call themselves) ... I am a world citizen but an Aussie and a South African and my children have all moved to Perth one by one. So I spend a lot of time in Perth, this Jan for the last of 3 weddings

Carol - Reading Writing and Riesling | 40 comments Ryan wrote: "Carol with her finger on the pulse!" Where are the rest of WA readers/writers? Surely there is more happening here?

The majority of members who want to comment do so in the chat thread Carol :) It's usually only if there's an event of some kind in the different states, that these threads are used :)

Laura Tenfingers I've been in Perth for 2.5 years. After Puerto Rico, the United States and Spain. 6 words...

Lily Malone | 102 comments Dropping in quickly to see if this group knows about West Coast Fiction Festival, coming up in November 2018?
While the event is in WA and there are lots of WA authors involved - there are other authors across Australia and some international authors coming too.
The event is a fundraiser for the Share The Dignity group - assisting homeless/vulnerable women with personal hygiene products, and more.
This link has all the details.

Hope you're all finding good books to read WA crew!

Deb | 219 comments What is going on with this warm WA May weather??
I keep thinking it will soon be cool, which means more reading time inside. Now I still have to go out and do gardening.
Please rain soon so I have a good excuse to be reading.

message 267: by Ryan (new)

Ryan My in-laws have come to visit from Wellington NZ and they were worn out by the heat at Rotty today.

Deb | 219 comments Anyone in WA reading anything interesting?

message 269: by Ryan (new)

Ryan I'm reading a couple of fairly average fantasy books. I'm looking forward to reading something better.

message 270: by Alex (new)

Alex | 1 comments Hi everyone, I've been a part of aussie readers for a while now but kept quiet as my reading is inconsistent. I'm Alex (female) and I live in Perth but come from the wheatbelt. I set myself a challenge this year to read 15 books and I'm one book away, and it's not even November. Holidays help!! I read 5 books in Nepal in March and have read 3 so far in Borneo (still a week to go including 2 days lying on a remote beach). I love historic fiction but am looking to branch out to something a little meatier. Any suggestions?

Hi Alex :) I'd suggest you go to other parts of the group as the state by state isn't monitored as well as the rest of the group. You can ask your questions in any of the various threads and there'll be lots who can help. You can check out our Bookshelf (top right hand side of any page) and that filled with Aussie authors and their genres are listed. So that may help.

message 272: by Anna (new)

Anna | 10 comments There don't seem to have been many posts lately. I live in South Guildford, near Midland and was wondering about setting up a Book Group to meet occasionally in person in that area. However, I'd only want to read books with happy endings. Anyone else interested. I'm old in body but not in head, write novels as well as being an avid reader. Anna Jacobs

Deb | 219 comments Hi, I’m in Warwick, so not close, but with the new road work, it doesn’t take all that long to travel towards Midland/Guildford. We drove to the Rose and Crown this morning, and it took less than 20 minutes. Brilliant!

Perhaps you guys could have a get together like we do in Sydney, Melbourne does one and Brisbane too. If you can get enough people (even 4-6 is enough to start) it's loads of fun. We do it quarterly. You could perhaps put a notice in the chat thread, where most people go, and see if you can get any interest :) Good luck!

Hi Eleanor, yes these threads are seldom used. If you'd like, you can visit the Introduce Yourself thread at the top of the group's page, talk to people in the Chat thread. We'd love to welcome you to the group.
