I write fantasy, Lily, and I'm self-published. Is that ok? The group looks good.

You write FANTASTIC fantasy Katie!!
You write FANTASTIC fantasy Katie!!
Aw, thanks, Brenda! But it's not set in WA and the page is mainly romance, so I thought I'd better ask. :)
Katie wrote: "I write fantasy, Lily, and I'm self-published. Is that ok? The group looks good."Absolutely! I guess you are right that 'romance' is probably how it looks at the moment but a lot of that is to do with the admin team behind it, we all write romance and those are the authors we mostly know. We would welcome you with open arms. All WA authors, or books set in WA. WA poets are welcome too! Please come over and introduce yourself on the page - or tell us what your favourite part of WA might be...
I look forward to learning more about you.
Lily
Good on you Katie:) WA is a massive place and I bet there are lots of authors there who don't know each other!
p.s. lovely to have you visit us Katie - and no - Brenda isn't scary! And Miss Brenda, thanks for liking us too! Go WA!
Hi I'm Heather, just saw this post in my feed. I live in Currambine, near Joondalup, 25km north of Perth city. Love Goodreads
I grew up in WA in the hills, and spent many years in the Pilbara, but have now been in NSW for eleven years. I've popped over to the Facebook page and liked it. I suppose I don't really count as Western Australian now :( but I like to imagine that I do!
Well, for a page of WA writers and readers that launched on Saturday morning, we now have over 100 likes and there's been all sorts of introductions & fun going on. There's photographs of favourite WA places, and a great youtube video of a black swan trying to cross the road... I hope everyone: authors/readers (we're looking for our first poet) of all genres feel free to come get involved. We're trying to dream up a big giveaway to coincide with Mothers Day... Leonie & Katie - it's been very nice to 'meet' you there... ;) (and here)... and, oh heck... everywhere!https://www.facebook.com/heartsnwined

Currently they're listed as "on the way" so I'm not 100% sure when they'll arrive. I'll let you know :)
Leonie wrote: "Lily wrote: "Well, for a page of WA writers and readers that launched on Saturday morning, we now have over 100 likes and there's been all sorts of introductions & fun going on. My publisher is primarily an eBook publisher, but my first book has also just come out in paperback, so I have both options :)

I'd love to be in a giveaway, but unless it's my children's e-book, it would have to be a print book, because I'm enrolled in a free book promotion scheme on Amazon with my other e-books. That disallows giveaways anywhere else. :( I do have two of them in print though and I'd be happy to send out one to anywhere in Australia.

I'm talking with my 'Admin' partners @ HeartsNWined about a mother's day giveaway and how it might work because we are finding a mix of authors with print or e-book availability. I'll keep in touch. Thanks for your support.
thats really exciting about the WA page - just 'liked' it... as an aspiring writing that is experiencing some SERIOUS writers block a the moment it is lovely to see other WA people so invested in the written word as well :)

I'm just coming through a bout that's been with me since January.
Lovely to meet you here and thanks for liking our page. Look forward to learning more about you.
Popping back to let people know that the Mother's Day Giveaway I mentioned for the new group HeartsnWined is live, and there are print and e-book options. Katie and Leonie (above in the thread) are both involved. The books in the giveaway are all by WA authors (born here, living here, grew up here etc) or they are books based in WA.Feel free to stop by!

Hi everyoneI wish it was spring already, don't know about you. Not much of a winter girl (and yes, I know we're not quite into winter yet!)
Letting the group know that I heard today Rachael Johns and Fiona Palmer (rural romance writers) have a book tour planned for September/October this year with about 8 stops all across WA.
This is Rachael's blog for details.

Hi, Ann Massey here.Great to know there's a thread especially for us Sandgropers. I live in Perth and have loved WA since my family arrived by ship on Australia Day 1960.
I've written three books--all about West Aussies. I like to think that in my small way I'm promoting the state.
Best wishes,
Ann
Hi Ann, your author thread is here if you'd like to tell us about your latest work...

No problems:) As we are predominantly a reading group, we have a special section for our authors. We love to hear about our Aussie authors, new releases etc. and with it all in the one section (Author Spotlight) it makes it easier for us to follow.
Plus posts in "normal" threads get lost amongst the other posts as well:)

Western Australia has many really nice places to see. If anything, at times they can be a bit far apart. It has a massive diversity from the types of bushland and climates. from very mild such as Albany, to the very hot and dry like marble Bar. It has magnificent forests such as the Pemberton Karri forests to the Bee Hive like hills of the Bungle Bungles. It has the curious Pinnacles and the pristine Ningaloo reef line. WA has wild oceans' in the south to the warm and relatively calm warm waters in the Kimberley's Archipelago (the place of 12M + tides. There is a lot to see.I spent quite a bit of time in my teens marvelling and enjoying the bush lands in the hills just east of Perth. The views can be stunning. Cheers :)
Just a heads up for our WA members - the Perth writers festival is on this month: 19 – 22 February For more information go here:

A good line up there Sally...a shame it's the opposite side of the country for me:( The WA members should have an excellent few days..
If anyone's at Swancon, Frontier Resistance is being launched in paperback format on the Saturday at 2pm. My publisher tells me there will be sparkly starcat bickies :)
Hi guys ...i live in perth and live reading... Anyone go to a reading group in person? .... Need to getaway from the books and talk about them
I'm in Perth, and can we all agree on one thing? It's getting so hot over here holy sh*t. Anyways, I love reading, who doesn't, and I get told I read too much, but I don't think that is ever possible. My to-read list has over 400 books in it, so Summer is a great time to get through some of these books.
Hi Abbey, great to have you in the group! Welcome:) And yes, the whole country is way too hot now:(
I'm back in Melbourne for my little girl's birthday this weekend. Top of 19 today! So perfect.Anyway I'm catching a plane soon and Perth weather looks very reasonable this week.
Goodness me, WA, it's been over A YEAR since anyone from here posted... I just can't believe we're that lazy!!I've read the threads going back to 2011, and the recurring theme is how hot it is here! Yesterday was no exception - 40 degrees, but today should be a little less horrible, with a top of only 32 degrees.
Hi Bree! The state threads are a little "inactive" aren't they! Never mind - I think a lot of people comment in the other threads anyway. And you're right with the horrid heat - we get it after you've passed it on - thanks for that!! lol
Bree wrote: "Goodness me, WA, it's been over A YEAR since anyone from here posted... Come to Margaret Rive Region - the weather was a little more tolerable and by coincidence Ijust checked out this page too - I didnt realise there was one for WA - there needs to be more info here. Maybe we get get something happening but how do we alert people to the thread?
