SOLVED. YA Book, about girl with skin illness, can't go outside in sun [s]

I remember reading this book, it was interesting, but very weird and unusual. It was about a girl with a skin diease (which I think is real) who can't go outside in the sun, and only plays in the nighttime, and makes ghost friends. I think something along those lines. If you could find this, I'd greatly appreciate it!

(The Others wasn't Shayamalan, actually. It was written and directed by Alejandro Amenabar. You can tell it wasn't Shayamalan because it was actually competently made.)

I don't know the book, but the disease is probably porphyria. It's a genetic disorder that causes, among many other things, photosensitivity.

Okay, there was another thread on here with someone looking for the same book. Apparently the disease isn't porphyria after all. According to the answer given in the other thread, the girl actually suffers from Xeroderma pigmentosum. It's also a genetic disorder. But the photosensitivity occurs for a different reason.
