So lets start suggesting books ladies... I'll take the choices and put it to a Vote for November 15th.. That way it gives those wanting to participate plenty of time to track down the winning book.

My suggestion is... The Clan of the Cave Bear (Earth's Children, #1) by Jean M. Auel

This book sounds great! I'd be interested in reading this. Plus, this will get me to branch out more into a different genre. This book is considered a historical fiction, right?

Mishelle LaBrash (mishalabrash) | 1520 comments Mod
Ya.. but the series does have a strong romantic element.. I dont think it starts till book 2 though...

Mishelle LaBrash (mishalabrash) | 1520 comments Mod
No one else interested??

message 6: by Megan (new)

Megan | 135 comments I was gonna suggest Into the Wilderness (Wilderness, #1) by Sara Donati but 912 pages is not looking fun, lol. I would be interested in reading The Clan of the Cave Bear (Earth's Children, #1) by Jean M. Auel , it has been on my TBR list forever. Or maybe The Bronze Horseman (Tatiana and Alexander, #1) by Paullina Simons , I think everyone on Goodreads has read it but me.

Mishelle LaBrash (mishalabrash) | 1520 comments Mod
Lol... Very well could be..

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) The only ones I could think of are probably ones everyone has read.

Mishelle LaBrash (mishalabrash) | 1520 comments Mod
Well give it a shot.. some are worth the re-read.. and others we may have not read yet.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Warrior (The Blades of the Rose, #1) by Zoe Archer

Okay, there we go.

Mishelle LaBrash (mishalabrash) | 1520 comments Mod
Woo Hoo. we are up to 3 suggestions.. (I second Stacia's, as well)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Ack. Now I'm not sure.

Do one of these look better?

Goddess of the Hunt (Goddess Trilogy, #1) by Tessa Dare Poison A Novel of the Renaissance by Sara Poole The Raven Prince (Princes Trilogy, #1) by Elizabeth Hoyt

message 13: by Mishelle, 'The Book Bag' (new)

Mishelle LaBrash (mishalabrash) | 1520 comments Mod
They all look good.. and I haven't read ANY of them.. which is kinda amazing.. lol

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I know! I went through my 20 plus pages of TBR and picked out ones that you specifically had not read, lmao.

message 15: by Mishelle, 'The Book Bag' (new)

Hahahahah... Thats awesome.

message 16: by Mishelle, 'The Book Bag' (new)

Mishelle LaBrash (mishalabrash) | 1520 comments Mod
Another book I would like to add for consideration is.. Saving Max by Antoinette van Heugten This book looks amazing.. and COMPLETELY out of my comfort zone.. Yet intriguing enough to give it a whirl.

message 17: by Alycia (new)

Alycia December is always a busy month, but I may be interested. I have a few of the books suggested.

Mishelle LaBrash (mishalabrash) | 1520 comments Mod
Okay.. if its a hard month to start.. (which I admit, I thought it may be) we could gather the choices for January.. You guys let me know what you would prefer.

I highly enjoyed Goddess of the Hunt and The Raven Prince. Both books are fast reads.

Donna (BLHmistress) (BLHmistress) | 26 comments I havent done a group read ever being I am new to GoodReads but I would love to try any one of those books sound great might be a refreshing change to for some of these authors never read

message 22: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I have been wanting to read Clan of the Cave Bear for a long time.

What about The Gargoyle by Andrew Davidson ?

I also plan on reading the #2 in two different romantic suspense series: Take No Prisoners (Black Ops, #2) by Cindy Gerard Hard Evidence (I-Team, #2) by Pamela Clare -- any interest?

Or YA Fantasy and romance: Graceling (The Seven Kingdoms, #1) by Kristin Cashore

PNR: Burning Alive (Sentinel Wars, #1) by Shannon K. Butcher

message 23: by Alycia (new)

Alycia I plan on reading the first I Team book this month, Extreme Exposure (I-Team, #1) by Pamela Clare

message 24: by Ottilie (new)

Ottilie (ottilie_weber) | 438 comments The Raven Prince (Princes Trilogy, #1) by Elizabeth Hoyt sounds interesting

message 25: by Ottilie (new)

Ottilie (ottilie_weber) | 438 comments Eva wrote: "I vote for The Clan of the Cave Bear (Earth's Children, #1) by Jean M. Auel also. I have had the series for ages and just haven't gotten to it."

Did you ever see the movie 10,000 BC?

message 26: by Ottilie (new)

Ottilie (ottilie_weber) | 438 comments oh okay, that book reminded me how it was set up, this clan takes in a girl and the medicine woman takes care of her

message 27: by Stacia (the 2010 club) (last edited Nov 05, 2010 03:17PM) (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I thought 10,000 BC kind of dragged, actually.

Is Clan better?

message 28: by Ottilie (new)

Ottilie (ottilie_weber) | 438 comments Oh same, I wanted to watch 10,000 BC because I'm a dork like that, and I watched it with my ex because he really liked it. However I agree it dragged

message 29: by Kimberly (last edited Nov 05, 2010 04:21PM) (new)

Kimberly (kimberly_b) Clan of the Cave Bear takes place 15,000-25,000 years before 10,000BC so there is a big difference in the time period. Not to mention, Auel researches her novels impeccably and Hollywood obviously didn't because the movie has some big inaccuracies.

message 30: by Ottilie (new)

Ottilie (ottilie_weber) | 438 comments I wasn't butchering the book, I was just saying it reminded me of it

message 31: by Mishelle, 'The Book Bag' (new)

Mishelle LaBrash (mishalabrash) | 1520 comments Mod
Lol... Have you read Clan, Ottillie? I have been wanting to forever.. I even have the whole series.. Byt I have been waiting for someone to read it with. I hear it's really good.

Kimberly (kimberly_b) Ottilie wrote: "I wasn't butchering the book, I was just saying it reminded me of it"

I totally didn't think you were. I probably came off as being harsh, sorry about that. I just don't want people who didn't care for 10,000BC to think Clan is just like that.

For the record, I'm about 50 pages into Clan right now and I like it okay so far but it's still too early to tell.

message 33: by Ottilie (new)

Ottilie (ottilie_weber) | 438 comments Nah I hadn't, I had never heard of it till I clicked onto this. Okay its hard to read tones occationally online. I find with books sometimes it takes to the first 100 pages, Dan Brown is dead on 100 pages

message 34: by Mishelle, 'The Book Bag' (new)

Mishelle LaBrash (mishalabrash) | 1520 comments Mod
I have found many books likes that.. especially the longer more rpic books.. The set up is usually longer so they have the potenital to drag prior to gettin to the goods..

message 35: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (kimberly_b) I think it's taking some getting used to that while they communicate, they don't actually speak much. I think I'll get into a groove with it though, but I've been reading Dead in the Family and Lover Mine which are both library books and it's kinda tough to give up reading those first ;)

message 36: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia | 7 comments I've always meant to read
