Erin H Read Desire by Nicole Jordan and it was a bit boring. It took awhile for the plot to get going. Now starting The Stolen Bride (de Warenne Dynasty, #8) by Brenda Joyce !!

message 203: by Laura (new)

Laura (laurastamps) I just finished "Open Season" by Linda Howard. A fan of mine LOOOOOOVES Howard and wanted me to try her so much she bought this book and mailed it to me. What a sweetheart!!! And it was a good one.

Now I am reading a "Secrets" anthology. OMG, I love these romantic erotica anthologies!! There are over 20 in the series, and I have read at least 10 of them. Almost every novella in these is good. If you read anthologies you know how rare that is. *wink*

Laura, I love Linda Howard as well, but who writes this "Secrets" anthology?

message 205: by Nikki ♥ (new)

Nikki ♥ Currently reading Happy Ever After (Bride Quartet, #4) by Nora Roberts .

message 206: by Laura (new)

Laura (laurastamps) Vanessa, looks like there are a few on GR. They are published by Red Sage Publishing and contain 4 novellas in each one. Some are by popular authors, and some are by unknown authors. But 95% of them are awesome! I have found some fab new authors and series to read this way.

This is a good one Secrets Volume 9

Tammy Walton Grant (tamgrant) | 194 comments I think I'm in a bit of a historical slump -- after reading Twice Tempted by a Rogue and giving it 5 stars (LOVED it) I haven't had any luck at all.

Tried to read Let Sleeping Rogues Lie and couldn't stand it -- don't think Sabrina Jeffries will be an author I'll be able to read.

Next up was One Touch of Scandal by Liz Carlyle. I'm not too sure about this one, but might try another by this author.

I'm interested to hear any opinions on either of these authors. Did I just pick bad books by good authors?

I would say yes -- I love most of Liz Carlyle's books (haven't read the one you tried), but I'd start with [book:Never Lie to a Lady
or Beauty Like the Night with LC... As far as Sabrina Jeffries, I quite liked most of her books (although they feel a little more simple..) I'd try In the Prince's Bed, The Pirate Lord or A Dangerous Love (kinda a Twelfth Night feel, everyone pretending to be someone else..) : now I haven't read SJ for a while, but I remember enjoying them:-) (haven't read the one you mentioned..)

Otherwise if you're looking for HR (don't know if you've read these), I loved Loretta Chase, Julie Garwood, Lisa Kleypas, Celeste Bradley or Teresa Medeiros... Practically all of their books are amazing!

message 210: by Tammy (new)

Tammy Walton Grant (tamgrant) | 194 comments Thanks Melanie -- I have read some Chase, Garwood and Kleypas but haven't yet tried any Bradley or Medeiros.

I'm off to check some of those out!

Yeah that was the only time I liked him too was in Circus of the Damned because he seemed all cool, calm, and collect in that book, there after he became this goody goody "boy scout" and a worry wart, ICK nothing says turn off than an Alpha male, who asks like a worried mother.

LMAO! Richard's character would be so great if he didn't act like that. although, even if he wasn't such a worry wart he couldn't surpass my love for Jean-Claude =) that's why i love LKH's work cause her character development has me so involved in the story.

i've only read bk #1 in the Meredith Gentry series and really liked it. i have bk# 2 at home. was Doyle one of the queens guards that hadn't been with a woman in like forever and was trying to get to Meredith to protect her? if that's him, he was my favorite too.

Melanie, I finished Original Sin. I rated it 2.5 stars. It's the first book in the series but the characters are continually referring to big events that happened shortly before the book starts. I found it a little hard to follow at first. I don't know if I'll read any more of this series or not.

message 245: by Erin (new)

Erin H Had to finish my books for the challenges from November!! Read The Stolen Bride (de Warenne Dynasty, #8) by Brenda Joyce and the only thing I didn't like about this book was the heroine being obsessively in love with the hero. Also read The Lord Next Door (Willow Pond, #1) by Gayle Callen and it was really good!! Finished both Uncommon Vows by Mary Jo Putney and Dragonborn by Jade Lee and I didn't enjoy either or them!! Now I have to decide what to read next...
