Peep (Pop! Pop!) Well, I initially had this over on the blog, but since I only have about 3 people that check in regularly (that includes me), it wasn't a success. So, I thought I'd bring up the topic here!

What books makes you want to get your memory erased so that you can reread them again for the first time all over once more? >_<

message 5: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah i know :P

message 6: by [deleted user] (new)

It's funny you posted this because earlier this week my son was saying that he would love to have his memory of his favorite book series swiped so that he could read it again. :)

message 7: by Gwennie (last edited Oct 29, 2010 01:20PM) (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Outlander (Outlander, #1) by Diana Gabaldon The Hunger Games Trilogy Boxset by Suzanne Collins The Clan of the Cave Bear (Earth's Children, #1) by Jean M. Auel Where the Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls

These are my absolute Favorites!

message 8: by Alyssa (new)

Alyssa (shyluck13) | 124 comments Good question
um.
Shadow Kiss (Vampire Academy, #3) by Richelle Mead
Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins
Forget You by Jennifer Echols
The Truth about Forever by Sarah Dessen
There are so many more.
And for some reason, I feel like rereading the Hunger Games again

message 9: by Catherine (new)

Catherine (cattymccat) | 95 comments I'm going with Harry Potter. But I want the movies erased too.

message 10: by [deleted user] (new)

To start...
Darkfever (Fever, #1) by Karen Marie Moning Bloodfever (Fever, #2) by Karen Marie Moning Faefever (Fever, #3) by Karen Marie Moning Dreamfever (Fever, #4) by Karen Marie Moning

message 11: by Ottilie (new)

Ottilie (ottilie_weber) | 484 comments maybe The Coven (Sweep, #2) by Cate Tiernan series, This Lullaby by Sarah Dessen and maybe the A Great and Terrible Beauty (Gemma Doyle, #1) by Libba Bray series

message 12: by Michelle (last edited Oct 29, 2010 02:40PM) (new)

Michelle Skeens (seeshelle) | 5 comments Unwind by Neil Shusterman
Twilight (I know.. but I did like the 1st book)
City of Bones series by Cassandra Clare
The Immortal Secrets of Nicholas Flamel Series by Michael Scott

Oh, The House of Night Series by PC Cast - I just want it erased out of my memory.

message 13: by Arphaxad (new)

Arphaxad | 335 comments I would actually love to be able to read Twilight again from scratch, unadulterated by the fandom and the films...it really was awesome the first time. Alas!

Also Ender's Game of course, and all the other Ender books; they packed such a punch when I first discovered them..still do, actually, but novelty has its own kind of excitement :)

Ditto for The Dark Is Rising Sequence and Tamora Pierce's Alanna books! Very fond memories and many happy reread seshes.

The feeling of a particularly awesome book-discovery is definitely one of my favourite things. Ever. :D

message 14: by Desperado (new)

Desperado (lethallovely) The book(s) that immediately come to mind are Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials trilogy.
The Golden Compass (His Dark Materials, #1) by Philip Pullman The Subtle Knife (His Dark Materials, #2) by Philip Pullman The Amber Spyglass (His Dark Materials, #3) by Philip Pullman

I read them for the first time when I was 12 & I was amazed. Although I've reread them-& cried like a wuss while reading them- numerous times since then, I'd love to rediscover the magic I felt the first go round.

message 15: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Harry Potter, #1) by J.K. Rowling The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins , The Help by Kathryn Stockett , and The Book Thief by Markus Zusak . Great thread idea!

message 16: by Heather (new)

Heather | 166 comments Peep, good question and I agree with several of your picks.

message 17: by Kurukka (new)

Kurukka The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins , Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Harry Potter, #1) by J.K. Rowling , The Amulet of Samarkand (Bartimaeus Trilogy, #1) by Jonathan Stroud , my absolute favorites.

Actually, I discovered Harry Potter with the third book (how stupid is that, to make you study a series in the middle of it ?) and I loved it so much I had to buy the others. They were the biggest books I'd ever read. I was eight or nine, I think. I'll never forget the day I waited in the shop guarding the last Goblet of Fire on the shelf for my mother to come back with the right amount of money, LOL.

I'd like to rediscover Twilight without the crazy fandom too, like in the beginning. Sigh.

message 18: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments For me it would be every book ever written by Juliet Marillier, but most especially Son of the Shadows (Sevenwaters, #2) by Juliet Marillier .

The other series I'd love to discover for a first time is The Dark Is Rising Sequence (#1-5) by Susan Cooper . I've re-read it so many times it's practically memorized and I still love every bit of it.

message 19: by Arphaxad (last edited Oct 30, 2010 09:19AM) (new)

Arphaxad | 335 comments Yay for DiR! :D I was mesmerized the first time..back in the day at secondary school when I'd spend my entire lunchbreak in the library..those were the days!

Looks like we've got pretty similar book-taste Becca, I'll have to check out these Juliet Marillier ones :)

message 20: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments They're historical fantasy with romance and fairy lore. They have a lot of druids and such in them, and they are so so so good. She is my favorite author, although Susan Cooper and J.R.R. Tolkien take close second and third.

message 21: by Book Sp(l)ot (new)

Book Sp(l)ot | 7 comments I think maybe Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier Bleeding Violet by Dia Reeves Perfect Chemistry (Perfect Chemistry, #1) by Simone Elkeles

Though now I really want to read the choices of everyone else that I haven't read yet (or finish the series that I've started)!

message 22: by Arphaxad (last edited Oct 30, 2010 10:40AM) (new)

Arphaxad | 335 comments @Becca: Sounds awesome, just checked the blurb. Definitely TBR, especially if it beats Susan Cooper! The mind boggles. :)

message 23: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments Lol! I'm actually reading all of Susan Cooper's books this year and have found several more by her that I absolutely adore, like Seaward I may actually like better than DiR, but then again maybe not.

message 24: by Arphaxad (new)

Arphaxad | 335 comments Ooh, good plan! *promptly adds Seaward as well*

message 25: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments lol! I love it!

message 26: by Julie (new)

Julie S. I would love to read 1984 again for the first time.

message 27: by Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) (last edited Oct 30, 2010 06:53PM) (new)

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 1328 comments You all have such great thoughts. I would say personally I'd go with...

Harry Potter Series
Hunger Games Series
Finnikin of the Rock
Lord of the Rings (This time I'd read the books before watching the movies)
The Phantom of the Opera
Les Miserables
Great Expectations
Chronicles of Narnia
1984
A Clockwork Orange
Graceling and Fire
Jane Eyre
Wuthering Heights
The Book Thief
Bridget Jones Diary & The Edge of Reason

Okay... enough for now! I re-read a lot of these anyway, but to not know the ending made it fab!

message 28: by Rebecca (new)

message 29: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments I would have loved to have my mind swiped of seeing the movie of P&P before I read the book. I love the movie so much that it was hard to like the book for what it was, although I loved the book too. I don't know if that makes sense, but I couldn't seem to disassociate the Lizzy/Mr. Darcy of the movie with the ones in the book and I think there are some subtle differences.

message 30: by JennRenee (new)

JennRenee (jennreneeread) Twilight series and Guardians of Time series.

message 31: by [deleted user] (new)

I just read Son of Ereubus (Guardians of Legend, #1) by J.S. Chancellor and id love to read it for the first time again

message 32: by Courtney (new)

Courtney K (cklueh) NONE! I love to re-read books. There are a couple of books (I won't name names) that I wouldn't mind having swiped from my mind and NEVER reading. I would have to write a letter to myself to make sure I didn't make the same mistake again, though.

message 33: by Ottilie (new)

Ottilie (ottilie_weber) | 484 comments Haha yeah I know that feeling also...

message 34: by Rosabelle (new)

Rosabelle Purnama | 23 comments For me, it would be the
Harry Potter series..

I'm currently re-reading the series for the second time.. :)

message 35: by Sarra (new)

Sarra Cannon (sarra_cannon) | 2 comments Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Harry Potter, #7) by J.K. Rowling The Stand by Stephen King Remember Me by Christopher Pike The Hunger Games (Hunger Games, #1) by Suzanne Collins Bridget Jones's Diary by Helen Fielding These are really just the beginning. Sometimes books just reach a place inside of you that nothing else has before, and even though a book can be reread, the magic of it is never quite the same for me as that very first time in a particular world.

message 36: by Ester (new)

Ester (esterjdagudo) | 14 comments I've read a lot of books, and this is the first time i encountered this question... hmmmm, usually whenever i like a particular book, i just reread them and it still has that enthralling sort of feeling and almost the same reactions and all, except for the fact that i already know the ending, it still does give me those goosebumps reaction...

message 37: by Ali (new)

Ali | 106 comments The Secret Circle Trilogy (was obsessed with these in highschool)
The Hunger Games Trilogy
Twilight (sorry - I devoured those books.. was fun to read)
The Vampire Diaries (again read in highschool.. they rocked) - just the original set though.
Grimspace (Sirantha Jax) Series
.....
will keep thinking of more...

message 38: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I loved the Secret Circle Trilogy too!!! I liked all LJ Smith books but these were my favorite.

I also loved Remember Me by Christopher Pike. This was another of my favorites from when I was a kid.

I totally devoured all Christopher Pike books in the early 90ties.. Remember Me was insanely awesome!

message 42: by Brandy (new)

Brandy Holt (brandy11d) | 4 comments Vampire Academy
City of Bones
Thirteen Reasons Why

Succubus Blues is a wonderful series (Probably my all time favorite). It's not YA but I just couldn't leave it out.

NO. Remember Me is one I'd have my mind swiped for another reason - to rid myself of the hatred I feel for the book. Gr. It was a waste of my time reading that trilogy.

message 44: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I never read the whold trilogy. I just read the first book. I absolutely loved it.

message 45: by Melissa (new)

Melissa (melissaveres) The Princess Bride by William Goldman

in a heartbeat <3

message 46: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Princess Bride is on my TBR list. I've seen the movie a million times but have yet to read the book.

I have to add Jellicoe Road to my list.

That makes my list go like this, in order, Outlander (Outlander, #1) by Diana Gabaldon Where the Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta The Clan of the Cave Bear (Earth's Children, #1) by Jean M. Auel The Hunger Games Trilogy Boxset by Suzanne Collins .

message 47: by Melissa (new)

Melissa (melissaveres) Wendy wrote: "Princess Bride is on my TBR list. I've seen the movie a million times but have yet to read the book.

Oh my GOSH. It's my favorite book of all time. I could read it over & over again!

message 48: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I wish I was a Mutant who could split myself into like 5 people who all shares memories so I could read multiple books at once.

I'll have to move it up. I have to read it before the Rainbow Challenge is over, it's my Green book.

message 49: by Ottilie (new)

Ottilie (ottilie_weber) | 484 comments See I really like the Princess Bride movie, so I'd need to wipe clean my memory of the plot to read the book, most of the time if I know what is going on because I've already read the book before I have trouble getting through the book again

message 50: by Melissa (new)

Melissa (melissaveres) The book & the movie are very different in style and humor. The basic plot line is the same, but the differences are so overwhelming it is as if you are reading/watching two completely different stories.
