Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Or do you only read the ones that interest you?

I often skip the ones about music and pop culture.

message 3: by Phoenix (new)

Phoenix (phoenixapb) | 1619 comments I usually read everything but the sports threads.

Oh I forgot, I usually ignore the sports threads. Unless I actually post something in them, which I have done in the NFL. But after I've posted I re-ignore it.

message 5: by [deleted user] (new)

I ignore the American specific threads. That means I can skip heaps which is good because most of the activity occurs when I'm asleep. It's too hard to catch up with them all.

Any thread that appears to be a little silly attracts my attention. I only come in here for a laugh.

Sally (mrsnolte) | 17373 comments Mod
I read a frighteningly small number of threads.

Bad moderator, Sally! Bad moderator!

message 7: by Lori (new)

Lori Well you ARE busy these days Sal!

Hahaha do I read every thread. Sheesh, I don't even have the time to keep up on the threads I've already participated in. As a matter of fact, I was going to start a thread about that: TC is so time-consuming!

So I can only keep up with a few threads. I choose based on titles and activity. Altho I have noticed that titles mean nothing, since by the 2nd page we can off and running on something different.

message 8: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments I read them all sooner or later.

makes "loser" sign to self

message 9: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments No, I take that back. I skipped the joke thread and that huge one with, say, songs with "love" in the lyrics or whatever.

message 10: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Lopez | 4726 comments I don't read every thread. But if I participate in one, I will usually continue to check in on it periodically.

message 11: by Jaimie (new)

Jaimie (jaimie476) | 664 comments I pick and choose but I do skip the sports. I always try to hit up the threads that have had the subject line changed because those are usually the fun ones.

message 12: by Mona (new)

Mona Garg (k1721m) | 350 comments No, just the ones that interest me or that have an interesting title. It's hard enough to keep up with those.

message 13: by Ken (new)

Ken (playjerist) | 721 comments I tend to stick with the cannibalism threads, though when a sex and vegetable fetish thread looks interesting I’ll dive in.

So true!

Poor sports threads, so neglected.

message 16: by [deleted user] (new)

For neglected threads, the sport threads appear to be very active. Maybe there are some phantoms making secret posts in the sports thread.

message 17: by Carol (new)

Carol | 1678 comments I read some of the topics via digest (lame) which leaves me woefully behind, the topics zoom around so much. Also, no sports, shebangs or sweet album covers. I loved the music game!

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments I try to read them all, but it's hard to keep up some days. I'm still catching up from a few days I was gone back in September, some of those threads are LONG! I still don't know what we decided about Jonathan Franzen.

Okay, okay, I just skim the sports stuff...

message 19: by Cosmic Sher (new)

Cosmic Sher (sherart) | 2234 comments Jackie, we know you're a closet sports fanatic. No need to hide it any longer. ;)

I pretty much read threads that catch my eye or ones that I know I can drop in & participate without having to read all of them in one go. Or I'll dig into the ones I have some ongoing interest in & see what's up.

Mostly I'm a slacker/lurker when I make it over here but I'm pleased to say that y'all are still as enlightening and hilarious as ever. :)

Where/when was Johnathan Franzen (hack) discussed?

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments And I missed Sally's baby shower completely! Which is confusing to me, since Sally had her baby a long time ago...
But still, sorry Sally!

Or maybe more cartoon characters...

message 24: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments i read threads that i have some comment-al investment in but seldom jump in to ones that i have missed out on. i also rarely get into threads that have a serious topic that i have nothing but something stupid to say in. occasionally i do (i see you all shaking your heads up and down) but i try not to.

message 25: by Kristi (new)

Kristi (kristicasey) Depends on how much time I have that day. Mostly, I just read the ones that seem interesting or ones that I notice only have a few "new" posts which means I've at least visited the thread recently.

message 26: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments I'm going to start writing about you all on the sports threads. You'll never know! Suckers!

message 27: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments I don't who is goddamn hell is talking to me anymore. It's like we're all in a dark room and I can't see who's speaking. Nobody better try to feel me up.

I'm with you RA, I plow through them all.

message 30: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments what i meant to say was "yes, as a new moderator to this group i peruse all the threads thoroughly"

message 31: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Moderators have first right of perusal.

message 32: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments I read the pop culture and food and political and a lot of the someone wants to know. The ones that I skip (knitting, perfume, etc) I may at some point read if I'm bored and they're still being refreshed.

I am also very confused about who is who around here, so apparently I did miss when you all put on Halloween costumes.

message 33: by Kate (new)

Kate (kateharper) | 206 comments I just look at the ones that catch my interest but I always skip the sports and music threads. There are probably so many posts on those threads because people who care about them tend to be very passionate about the subjects. I've been off work since I joined the group and I go back next week so we'll see how my participation changes.

message 34: by Jan (new)

Jan | 241 comments I read most of them. The reason is that since almost everyone I know joined Facebook, I don't get much personal e-mail anymore. I had an account myself but cancelled it, so it gets pretty quiet in the mail room. I like reading the witty comments posted here and love the camraderie you all enjoy.

message 35: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments you sure you are reading OUR comments?

message 36: by Phoenix (new)

Phoenix (phoenixapb) | 1619 comments I need to make a correction...I lied in my first post but not intentionally...I read all the active posts with the exception of the sports threads. Yeah, that's more like it.

message 37: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Confession is good for the soul, Alecia I mean Red.

message 38: by Jaimie (new)

Jaimie (jaimie476) | 664 comments Larry, you're all sagey with your comments today. I think you may need a "Larry's Words of Wisdom" thread.

message 39: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Oh Lord, no. Not that. I'm tapped out. Really.

You're a little late. Everyone is constantly writing about you on the threads you never read.

message 41: by Joanne (new)

Joanne (bonfiggi) No sports, no TMI

message 42: by Janice (new)

Janice (jamasc) There are sports threads? I just check whats new and exciting, and by the time I read the threads, they are no longer new. I have noticed something about these threads... they tend to get a little frayed after being dragged through the cheese. LOL!

message 43: by ms.petra (new)

ms.petra (mspetra) I skim through most of them. I ALWAYS read the sports threads (except rugby and soccer). I like the pop culture and question of the day. I have to back off from the politics threads because I am the polar opposite of most of you and I just don't have the time or energy to argue my position. Especially since it seems most people here have strong opinions and are unlikely to be swayed.

message 44: by Cosmic Sher (new)

Cosmic Sher (sherart) | 2234 comments Okay, how many of you really glance at a thread, see all the too-wordy/chatty/self-important comments, and back out because you don't have the mental energy to care? Really?

Oh, I guess it's just me. ;P

message 45: by Phoenix (new)

Phoenix (phoenixapb) | 1619 comments That's what skimming is for...because sometimes those threads take a turn for the funny!

message 46: by Cosmic Sher (new)

Cosmic Sher (sherart) | 2234 comments Too true!

nope, not just you

message 48: by janine (new)

janine | 7709 comments i don't read the sports threads, but most other threads i do read. there's some time every day i'm bored or in need of procrastination. procrastination makes the world go round.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments I have to be in just the right frame of mind for the serious threads.

Sometimes I just can't do it, talk about politics or the environment or religion. Life can be stressful enough without arguing with people on the internet, you know?

I may state my views and leave it at that.

message 50: by [deleted user] (new)

I don't hold any views so I come in here to find out what I should think. Then I find out most of it isn't relevant to my day to day life so I go away happy and clueless.
