@Jacinta. No one really knows if the pilgrims ate turkey at the first Thanksgiving, but there are records that said they ate fowl. There are also other records that say they went on a turkey hunt, but wether or not they caught a turkey, we don't know. But some people sorta assumed they did eat turkey. So later in the 1800s, when Thanksgiving became a national holiday, turkey just kinda gained traction as the meal choice.
