jacky | 4 comments The book connected to this link:
دنیای سوفی

is connected to Sophie's Choice, but I don't think it is supposed to be. I dont' know really anything about Sophie's Choice, so I didn't want to disconnect it myself.

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) | 2400 comments It's actually shown as an edition of Sophie's World, not Sophie's Choice. I don't know the language so I cannot vouch for whether it is Sophie's World.

Cait (tigercait) | 4988 comments Wikipedia appears to think that they're the same book, if you go to the english page and then click "فارسی" on the sidebar for languages....

message 4: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) | 2400 comments It doesn't help me to click on "فارسی" because I can't read the language, but I know Sophie's Choice and Sophie's World are two different books by different authors. I do know that there are errors on Wikipedia; I don't use it much so I don't know but I assume there's a way to edit/flag errors there.

Anyone can edit (most) Wikipedia pages to fix errors.

Cait (tigercait) | 4988 comments Oh, I wasn't talking about "Sophie's Choice", Lisa -- I mean that I can go from the "Sophie's World" entry on the english wikipedia to the "دنیای سوفی" entry on the فارس wikipedia just by changing the language, so I assume that "Sophie's World" and "دنیای سوفی" are the same. Wikipedia has errors, but usually not at that level.... :)

Edit: Oof, that edition list really needs some superlibrarian love, too. Maybe I'll hit that up in the morning!

Melody (runningtune) | 13300 comments I discovered several listings with The Alchemist that read Der Alchimist. Sonderausgabe. 4 CDs (Paperback. When you looked at the cover (for those that had them- it was something for dummies (looked to be in german). When I searched by the ISBN I discovered that they were indeed "something for dummies" (yoga for dummies is an example). I also found the Amazon listing for them that put them in Goodreads in the first place. When I changed the name of this paticular book along with the author (in this case Larry Payne. The book I added doesn't show up on the author page - but rather a random listing for The Alchemist. When you click the combine editions for Larry Payne you can see the updated listing. Does anyone have a clue what is happening? I don't want to "fix" any of these other strange Alchemist listings until mystery solved.

This Is Not The Michael You're Looking For | 949 comments I think it's either a caching problem or one of the 137 versions of The Alchemist has Larry Payne as an author. You need to separate before changing the author. Unfortunately, I've never found a good way to track errors such as that short of looking at all 137 versions, one by one.

Well, I think I sort of fixed it (I had a mildly clever idea), but I'm not positive.

Cait (tigercait) | 4988 comments Hmm, you know what would be really useful? Some way of paging though *every* edition of a page. I think I'll go suggest that. :)

I don't believe I've been doing this. Luckily - I don't think I've changed many (maybe not even any except the above mentioned issue)authors, so whew!

Mathilda Craft (mathildacraft) | 21 comments I'm having a hard time putting up a book that is co-created through 4 authors (well, 2 authors and 2 illustrators, really). It's a manga and I'm trying to bring all the editions together but I'm having some difficulty. Can anyone tell me how to do this without creating a profile with 4 names that can't be separated?

As far as I know, there is currently no way to list more than three authors on a single book.

message 13: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) | 2400 comments There is room for only 3 authors, but I'll list any additional authors, etc. in the description field. They're not searchable but at least are given credit for writing, illustrating, translating, editing, whatever.

Good point.

Mathilda Craft (mathildacraft) | 21 comments Dang. That annoys me. I guess I have to create an individual profile for this. Bollocks to that.
