message 1: by Lynny (new)

Lynny (lynnyo4) if vampires go crazy over blood, what happens when Bella has her monthly problems? Meyer forgot to cover that.... anyone know??

message 2: by Lynn (new)

Lynn | 34 comments Yeah, I also have a weird question: how are vampires capable of intercourse, if they have no bodily fluids?

message 3: by Eleven (new)

Eleven Ohhhh Lynn I joined this community just so that I could tell you - I wonder the same thing! All the time. When my best friend was WAY into Buffy, I told her she'd never be able to actually have sex with Spike because being DEAD means no BLOODFLOW. Haha, and look at me now...

And as for the menstrual thing... I wondered that as well, I thought maybe he had to avoid her for a while? I told myself that if I ever got to see her in person I would ask her... but then I read the Entertainment Weekly article, and she says that that's the number 1 question she gets asked! What does she have to say in answer?

"Ew."

Come on, how do you NOT factor that in? It's kind of the natural train of thought... girls bleed, vampires like blood, two plus two equals FOUR!

message 4: by Lynn (new)

Lynn | 34 comments Oh my God, I am laughing so hard!

message 5: by Danell (new)

Danell Meyer actually covered this topic in one of her interviews. She said that Edward would be slightly more attracted during Bella's monthly cycles but he's just too much of a gentleman to say anything.

As for the sexual thing - I never thought of the blood flow...hmm...interesting.

message 6: by Lynny (new)

Lynny (lynnyo4) lol. helpful. but remember in the woods in eclipse how she cut herself and he was like "oh i barely notice anymore" i guess that means he must have had a little practice. just, what would have happened if she had her period during the runaway from James, and Jasper had attacked? ugh. i hate it when there is a hole in the plot!!! :(

message 7: by Lynn (new)

Lynn | 34 comments Yeah, and you know period blood is different. That could have something to do with it too.

message 8: by Alexis (new)

Alexis (aesquibel25) Well everything else about him is hard and marble, maybe it's not as difficult as it seems. I'm sure she will explain it all in Breaking Dawn though and I'm sure it will be tactful. And the question of period blood was answered in another discussion. Meyers said that Edward was too much of a gentleman to mention anything and it was a little harder but he dealt with it and besides, there's something about "dead blood" not being strong or appealing too that I think was mentioned.

message 9: by Bronte (new)

Bronte | 15 comments actually, that question has been answered (go to the FAQ on www.imbd.com for twilight). it is "dead blood" apparently edward doesnt like it but he is too much of a gentleman to say anything and bella is oo emaressed to ask

message 10: by Sella (new)

Sella Malin Well, when you have your period most of it isn't blood- it's just tissue, only a bit of it is actually blood, so it might not be that bad for Edward. Also, it's "dead blood" so that's not as tempting.

message 11: by Lori (new)

Lori (moderatrixlori) Okay...I've been thinking about all the "mechanics" of Edward too and it's been driving me crazy. I even asked my 17 year old son about it yesterday. He hasn't read the books but I've told him all about them. He said the same thing as Alexis said. Maybe he's just "hard" all the time. Every guys dream...haha.

The other thing that bothers me a little is his breathing when he's feeling passionate. They don't need to breath, it's just a reflex and since his heart doesn't beat, he would not feel the passion the same way a human does. So I'm not sure why his breathing would quicken unless it's just another reflex or muscle memory of what it used to feel like.

But, it's fantasy so it can be however Stephanie wants it to be and it doesn't have to make a whole lot of sense.

message 12: by [deleted user] (new)

mmm mariana that is a good point. maybe that's why she was such a natural at being a "newborn"... he had already had the venom in her so it wasn't such a shock to her system.

message 13: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (kutiegirl106) In breaking dawn it says she skipped the newborn phaze because she was prepared and stephanie backed that up in one her interviews about breaking dawn. I feel like this. Bella was never meant to be human. She was meant to be a vampire. She was always so clumsy in her human body and her vampire power even manifested itself a little bit before bells even turned vampire. That's why Edward couldn't read her mind.

message 14: by Ann (new)

Ann | 206 comments that would also explain why bella liked blood before she was even a vamp

ⓘsⓐbεℓℓⓐ Message 25, it actually doesn't explain y she liked blooded, because she had Nessie in her body and Nessie needed blood not human food.
But I got 2 say it might be y Bella was so wierd with blood, rememder in the blood donations in Twilight she turned pale and felt sick, because she could smell the bllod. Edward told her humans couldn't smell blood, but she could. She said it smelled like salt and rust.

message 16: by [deleted user] (new)

oh, bella
shes so special

message 17: by Ann (new)

Ann | 206 comments that's what I meant that it didn't repulse her she wanted it

hardcover_bitch_book (cen143laura) | 2 comments if u need to locate a book on line 2 read go too go to your internet exployer and type in E-Books Sharing" online type the book u want too read and i'll be there goodluck

message 19: by Amy (new)

Amy (boymom9) MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS IF YOU HAVN'T READ 4TH BOOK! in the fourth book, right before bella realizes shes prego, she sees the box of tampons and she makes a thought that alice put them in there knowing she would have human problems but that Alice never has to worry about that. and yes i thought too if there is no blood flow, how could he get... erect? haha. it needs blood flow to get erect. haha.

message 20: by Amy (new)

Amy (boymom9) another thing i thought of. vamps don't need to breathe it's just an instinct to do it. but if they don't breathe in and out, how do they talk? you have to have air pushing through your vocal cords to create the vibrations to speak. just somethin gi thought of. a bunch of breahtless, silent vamps. hmmm....

message 21: by [deleted user] (new)

they dont HAVE to talk

message 22: by Amy (new)

Amy (boymom9) y not? edward is the only one who can hear others thoughts, while the family can communicate with him, he can't telepathically communicate with them. and to live in the human world, they would need to talk.

message 23: by [deleted user] (new)

if your all by yourself, you dont have to talk to anyone to survive.
i guess he just meant that his kind didnt have to breathe to live

message 24: by Alexis (new)

Alexis (aesquibel25) It's just air that passes hollowly in their bodies, it says in Breaking Dawn or is mentioned in one of the other books. They use the air they take in to taste the air and to smell. I agree 100% with Katia on message #19. If you read about the Incubus, it's almost exactly what happened to Bella. Your body becomes frozen when you turn so it's possible for Edward to have sperm. She also says how if a woman who's preggo when she gets turned, the baby will stay frozen inside her and won't ever be born. Kinda sad and gross if you think about it but honestly people, this is a Fiction book. Of course not everything is logical or probable, this IS a book about vampires remember? Who's to say they can't have babies just because it doesn't seem probable.

message 25: by [deleted user] (new)

ewww.........

message 26: by Alexis (new)

Alexis (aesquibel25) LOL!! Sorry, didn't mean to gross anyone out....

message 27: by Neffer1982 (new)

ⓘsⓐbεℓℓⓐ Caroline is totally right! I am jsut cracking up over here! SM will b like ah-mazed that we think of the characters more than she does.

message 32: by Alexis (new)

Alexis (aesquibel25) Lol like I said, it's a book about VAMPIRES. It's fiction it's a fun and wonderful book and I think it diminishes the magic if you try to pry too deeply into the logical aspects lol :)

message 41: by Sarah jean (new)

Sarah jean blank (Sarahjean) | 211 comments i was not wonderin :) but that sorta explins his 107 yr old virgin thing until BD ruins my theroy

message 42: by Hayley (new)

Hayley | 19 comments I was thinking about whether or not it was possible for Edward, you know to become erect and it occurred to me that as he drinks blood (cos he's a vampire) he would have a stead supply of blood running through his system - plus he may be a 107yrs old but he's stuck as a 17yrs teenage and they are always excitable lol

message 43: by Lynny (new)

Lynny (lynnyo4) wow.

message 44: by No.i (new)

how does math get to do with anything with blood??

laurabeth wrote: "okay well lets see

Exactly!!!
And that is why Rosalie is so jelouse of Bella Becuse She cant have Kids, but Bella can, well, until she becomes a vamp.

message 46: by Chloe (new)

Chloe Smith (literatepea) ok, this is kinda wierd, but what happens when bella does get her peroid? Shouldnt Edward like, flip out or something?
