Any luck with the Triffid comic? I found a pic from the comic, but no other details. Check out the creepy face in the plant. Scared the Bejeebus out of me as a kid.
•Triffid:

Todd, I wish I could help you, but neither story rings a bell. However, your post has prompted some memories that I was wondering if anyone else can remember these stories as well.
When I visited England in the early 80's they had the collection of stories turned into a weekly comic book. The main story was the comic version of The Empire Strikes Back. Then other short stories were included.
The first was called The Shadow. This was about a shadow that comes to Earth and attack man. It continues until it is killed by entering a room and being exposed to a lot of light.
The second, which I could remember the name, was about a man who was exploring on Mars. The part of the story involved him coming across a series of Pyramids. Each one was bigger than the next, with a creature in the last one. Later in 8th grade, my teacher read this story in class.
Also, with Middle School I remember in two grades reading the same story about a boy who is found by a family near a hole that led to his parallel earth. At the end his tries to return to his Earth via the hole. In the story you could not tell if it was taking place on our Earth, or if him came from our Earth.
So, the question is does anyone remember the last two stories.
There is a GR group that helps figure out the names of books. You might try over there too : http://www.goodreads.com/group/show/1...

Maybe your thinking of on of the pip and flinx books, or Heinlein's Star Beast.

No campus or six legged dog though. Telepathic foxes, yes.

Thanks Kate, that is awesome I'll give it a go.

BUT I expect that Patrick is correct and you were looking for Heinlein's The Star Beast

I read a book once where the main character had a telepathic dog companion. It seemed to be set in comtemporary times. I recall the author using the word "campus" which as a kid was new to me. So the main character might have been at College? There was possibly a six legged dog like alien? Sorry for the disjointed memory fragments...
Also I read a comic when I was a kid where many Sci-Fi stories had been novelised. I recall the cover had a plant-like being walking down the ramp of a flying saucer. Inside the comic was The Day of the Triffids. The only other story that I remember was about "Slow Glass".
Can anyone help me? I'd love to re-read these again with an adult perspective.
