Zainab | 4216 comments Mod
LOL DR! that's really funny :L
HOW FREAKING GOOD WAS IT?! well, personally the first one was my fav..it didn't exactly go downhill from there...but it just didn't rock my socks as much :/

message 6: by Ross (new)

Ross Bauer (nightlightknight) | 5696 comments Yeah I know what you mean, I think it was just all a huge hunger games that was replayed over and over, but I guess that was the point, to show inhuman it all is.

message 7: by Zainab (new)

Zainab | 4216 comments Mod
yeaahh, it could definitely be seen that way. But like, it was really, really frustrating. President Snow is SUCH a bitch -_-

message 8: by Ross (new)

Ross Bauer (nightlightknight) | 5696 comments Yeah but I was kinda disappointed with the ending. I was like 'what? Is that it?'

message 9: by Zainab (new)

Zainab | 4216 comments Mod
I KNOWW! but like, it's really..what's the word...eutopea or something? like, it's just crazy thinking bout the possibility of something like that actually happening. like, it's CRAZY. and then I see the materialistic-ness of Generation z and how they say the gaps between each generation are getting smaller and smaller and well, something like that I can kind of imagine happening. not exactly..but ya know..

message 10: by Ross (new)

Ross Bauer (nightlightknight) | 5696 comments I never really felt that Gale was gonna work, they just seemed to brother and sister for it to actually work

message 11: by Zainab (new)

Zainab | 4216 comments Mod
agreed.

message 12: by Ross (new)

Ross Bauer (nightlightknight) | 5696 comments But I still was shocked with the way he seemed to disappear at the end. I thought he liked Katniss? But maybe he could see her getting closer to Peeta as he recovered.

message 13: by Zainab (new)

Zainab | 4216 comments Mod
also agreed. And his idea with the end thing and :'( it was oh so sad :(

message 14: by BD (new)

message 16: by Ross (last edited Oct 20, 2010 04:59AM) (new)

Ross Bauer (nightlightknight) | 5696 comments It's good BD, I think you'll like it, but it is a bit gritty:p

message 17: by Zainab (new)

Zainab | 4216 comments Mod
gritty? :/

message 18: by Ross (new)

Ross Bauer (nightlightknight) | 5696 comments as in it's about war and the harshness of it all

message 19: by Kezia (last edited Oct 21, 2010 07:18PM) (new)

Kezia (kangelofpeacel) | 433 comments I am into all that apocaliptic love/war stuff so i read Hunger Games. Its like ok but i dont see what all the hype is about. I found it kinda predictable. Like well no duh thay r both going to live, no one would like it if Peeta had died. Out of 10 i give it like mabye a 4.5. It didnt make me want to read the others :P

message 20: by Ross (new)

Ross Bauer (nightlightknight) | 5696 comments Yeah I gotta agree it was kinda predictable, but it was more what happened while they got there that was more interesting:)

message 21: by Zainab (new)

Zainab | 4216 comments Mod
:O 4.5
wow. WOW. I was bloody addicted. Started at 11 and finished in the wee(?) hours of the morning :LL
IT WAS OUTSTANDING! well, the first one was..but wow. 4.5 :/

message 22: by Ross (new)

Ross Bauer (nightlightknight) | 5696 comments Hmm I woudn't give a 4.5. more like a 7.8:)

message 23: by Kezia (new)

Kezia (kangelofpeacel) | 433 comments Yeah i kinda got carried away :/ sorry if any one was offended, its not that bad oops :) 7 sound more like it it is about more what is happening like woolfie said

message 24: by Ross (new)

Ross Bauer (nightlightknight) | 5696 comments Yeah but I think the Story has pretty much run it's course, I agree it did get a little tedious and formulaic as it went on, it felt like she was trying to retain the essential idea of the Hunger Games and extrapolate it to the trilogy. I was a good idea but one that was immediately 'gettable', at least I thought so and the second Hunger Games; The Winners edition felt very forced.

But I for one hope she doesn't add another book as the main characters, were not that interesting to begin with, and their little tragedies have been played out, so there's not really any need to have a 'spin-off' or a 'filler' book to explain things already explained further.

The worst she could do is do a prequelabout Katniss's father or Haymitch winning the Hunger games, but it would smack of a desperate attempt to keep the dying embers of a bonfire of a series going. Just my opinion:p

message 25: by Kezia (new)

Kezia (kangelofpeacel) | 433 comments Yeah alot of authors just try to force other books in to make a long series. :P it is just a money making thing especially if their first book becomes a hit. The other books r never as good

message 26: by Zainab (new)

Zainab | 4216 comments Mod
lol Tt!

I know that the prequel or sequel thing might be true...but I know for a fact that I'd still read them anyway if they ever happened :DD

message 27: by Ross (new)

Ross Bauer (nightlightknight) | 5696 comments Tt you're not alone there, I always go into a Harry Potter movie thinking 'wow this is gonna be awesome' and I always come out with a 'wtf did they do to my beloved book?' lol

The first book was actually bought for my sister by my Aunt, but I somehow got to it first and read ,adn I never looked back. Back then we didn't get her books here in Malaysia, I'm proud to say that I read Harry Potter and Lord of The Rings way before the hype and hoopla happened:)

message 28: by Ross (new)

Ross Bauer (nightlightknight) | 5696 comments lol I can't really claim that honour lol, but I did wait on the brink of insanity for a week waiting for my Aunt's package to reach me, coz she'd bought Prisoner of Azkaban for me, and I got it one evening and read it through the night, I didn't sleep till I finished it:p

message 29: by Kezia (new)

Kezia (kangelofpeacel) | 433 comments Omg i do the same thing woolfie :D. When my mom bought me the last book to the chaos walking series Monsters of Men by Patrick Ness (its a very good series u should read it) i stayed up the whole night and read all 617 pages :) i do that with all interesting books :)

message 30: by Ross (last edited Oct 24, 2010 07:35PM) (new)

Ross Bauer (nightlightknight) | 5696 comments lol we're both nuts clearly Kezia:p

Has anyone else had this experience, of staying up all night to read a book they desperately desperately desperately wanted to read?
What book was it?
and
was it worth forcing your eyes open till the end?

message 31: by Kezia (new)

Kezia (kangelofpeacel) | 433 comments I didnt feel sleepy while reading but when i put the book down it hit me :)

message 32: by Ross (new)

Ross Bauer (nightlightknight) | 5696 comments Yup, zonk zzzzzzzz

I was talking about clockwork angel :) is it good? I saw one of my friends reading it and i love Cassandra Clare the author so i figured it wold be a good read :)

message 40: by Ross (new)

Ross Bauer (nightlightknight) | 5696 comments nope not me, I get into books yes, but I've never been scared by them:p

message 41: by Ross (new)

Ross Bauer (nightlightknight) | 5696 comments I guess it's not as arresting coz it's not visual and Ialways see the words on the page:p

message 42: by Zainab (new)

Zainab | 4216 comments Mod
I really, really fell in love with the characters. I think Clare has a way with doing that. It was pretty sweet, but I reckon the next book in the series should be better :D

message 43: by Kezia (new)

Kezia (kangelofpeacel) | 433 comments Omg zainab its a series :) i didnt know that !!! Now im even more excited

message 44: by Kezia (new)

Kezia (kangelofpeacel) | 433 comments Tt wrote: "Really??? Then how are you so into reading?????? I read because I have a really good imagination, or so Im told, and I can see everything thats happening in the story as Im reading it. Thats why I ..."

I am the EXACT same way :D i have a great imagination! While i read, a movie plays in my head so i get mad when Hollywood gets ahold of it and ruins it >:(

message 45: by Ross (last edited Oct 27, 2010 07:05PM) (new)

Ross Bauer (nightlightknight) | 5696 comments Well I do see the characters and scenes described, just when I close my eyes:p And I've been like that for the Harry Potter moves, go in all happy and excited, come out all pissed off, and annoyed they didn't include this and that, that this didn't happen the way it was supposed to etc

message 46: by Kezia (new)

Kezia (kangelofpeacel) | 433 comments Yeah :) me and my friend went to go see Harry Pottet and the half blood prince and when we came out she was so mad! I havent read the series so i like the movies :) but she doesnt beacuse they leave out parts

message 47: by Ross (new)

Ross Bauer (nightlightknight) | 5696 comments Yeah there's something kinda magical to have the inital hype around a book die down only to have it amped up again when there's talk of a movie adaptation. Sometimes on the wave of hype the effect isn't so great, but I guess now it's all about capitalising on emerging fanbases and suckering them into potentially disappointing 'official' movie franchises of beloved books.

message 48: by Kezia (new)

Kezia (kangelofpeacel) | 433 comments Yeah i totally agree. The did the same thing w/lighting theif series. Once gradually slowed, out came the movie and people fell in love with the books all over again.

I actually am looking forward to the hunger games movie though :)

message 49: by Zainab (new)

Zainab | 4216 comments Mod
I really don't get how they're gonna pull it off though. does anyone know any details bout the movie? =/

message 50: by Kezia (new)

Kezia (kangelofpeacel) | 433 comments I know it comes out in 2013 and its gonna be hard to make
