Arphaxad | 335 comments Heidi I wrote: "Ohhh I love Meg Cabot and really liked Soulless."

Those are my two favourite Meg Cabot series; the heroines are both extremely feisty and hilarious! Having fun rereading them. And Soulless certainly looks intriguing!

Jaimie wrote: "I really like the women of the otherworld series!"

I've heard a lot of good things about the books! Have had Bitten on request for ages, so I'm really glad to finally get my hands on it.

message 311: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments I feel like I haven't read anything in a while, so I was super excited today when the library emailed and said they had The Scorch Trials (Maze Runner, #2) by James Dashner ready for me.

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 1328 comments Proceed with caution Becca. It was very similar to The Maze Runner with regard to likability and after reading it I think I'm more confused than ever!

The final book better be mind-blowing or I might be a bit upset.

message 313: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments Lol, I think I have a good idea of what I'm getting into since most reviews I've read said you come out of this one with more questions and zero answers. I just haven't read anything for weeks it feels like, so I'm excited to finally be picking something, anything up from the library. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for some good books for Christmas. We'll see.

message 316: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments I got Seer of Sevenwaters (Sevenwaters #5) by Juliet Marillier for Christmas! Read it yesterday and really liked it. I love this series!

Sara (rose081900) | 177 comments I just got an email from my library saying they had Sarah's Key by Tatiana de Rosnay the audiobook for download, so I checked it out and downloaded it and will be starting that today.

message 319: by Traci (new)

Traci ouu I've heard excellent things about Sarah's Key! you'll have to keep us updated.

message 320: by Sara (new)

Sara (rose081900) | 177 comments I also got notification from my library for The Death and Life of Charlie St. Cloud by Ben Sherwood , so I downloaded the e-book from their site to read that as well. I'm so excited, like Christmas all over again to have two books I've been wanting to read to come in at the same time.

I will definitely keep you posted on Sarah's Key.

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 1328 comments Sara wrote: "I just got an email from my library saying they had Sarah's Key by Tatiana de Rosnaythe audiobook for download, so I checked it out and downloaded it and will be starting that today."

That's actually the book for next month for my bookclub. I'm looking forward to reading it as well. I'm currently reading The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield on audio. It's my gym book. Not sure that's the greatest setting for me to listen to it, but I'm liking it and it's motivation for me to keep going back and getting on the treadmill. :)

Also I think I'm going to start Book of a Thousand Days by Shannon Hale tonight. I've heard good things so I'm really excited about it.

I'm also reading Harry Potter y la piedra filosofal 1 chapter a night to keep up on my Spanish. it's daunting but I seem to be doing okay so far. I think one of my goals for next year will be to read at least 1 book a month in Spanish. Hopefully it works out!!! :)

message 322: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Brittany Book of a Thousand Days is wonderful on audiobook as well.

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 1328 comments Really, I have the print from the library. Hopefully it will be just as good. I can only do one audiobook at a time and I still have about 10 hours left on my current audiobook.

message 324: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments I loved it in print Brittany! I've read it twice. It's a really beautiful story.

Yay for old school book stores!

message 328: by Sara (new)

Sara (rose081900) | 177 comments I decided to ask a friend of mine for a copy of Sarah's Key to read, because I'm having a damn hard time concentrating on the audio book. From what I can remember it's a pretty good story, but couldn't concentrate so I'm going to read instead of listening to it.

message 345: by Julie (new)

Julie S. I was given some gift cards to Barnes and Noble, so I took advantage of their online after holidays sale. We Think, Therefore We Are by Peter Crowther The Apocalypse Reader by Justin Taylor Summerland by Michael Chabon The Taker by J.M. Steele The Upper Class (Upper Class, #1) by Hobson Brown The Company by K.J. Parker Invasive Procedures by Orson Scott Card

This sale was awesome. Many of the books were 60-80% off. Invasive Procedures, a hardback, was originally $25.95 and I paid (drumroll) only $3.99 for it.

message 346: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I wish people would get me gift cards for Christmas! My family seems to have an aversion to it.

Amanda (peanutty222) | 529 comments Wendy wrote: "I wish people would get me gift cards for Christmas! My family seems to have an aversion to it."

YES!!! Thank you!! I'm glad I'm not the only one. Seriously, I got a set of snowman salt and pepper shakers this year from someone. They were $14.99. I just kept thinking about what book I could have bought instead. I'm not ungrateful, but except for my tree, I don't decorate. The gift was quite unpersonal and defiantely a last minute pick-up. My thought is if your going to get me something, THINK of me when your buying it. If you can't think of anything, then get me a gift card. (Oh, Last year I got a nativity set from the same person...maybe they are trying to tell me something?!?!)

message 348: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) They're telling you to DECORATE, hahaha!

My mom gets me things like a Scrapbook gift set with a bunch of stuff in it. Or a set of hair brushes. They think that gift cards are impersonal. The truth is I would much rather have her put all that money into a Borders card, or even better a Visa gift card so I can just go buy the books I want!

message 349: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments I couldn't agree more with the both of you. Please give me gift cards! Especially if you don't know me well, which would be my entire in-law side of the family and apparently my own mother (sad).

Ha, a set of hair brushes? That's right up there wiht the pair of red underwear my mother got me with christmas candy print. They were in my stocking. Let me just paint the picture for you.......I am in my upper twenties, married wiht 2 kids. My husband and I go to her house to open gifts, and she hands me my stocking. Yes, I still get a stocking and forever will. I think I'll be 50 and if she's still kickin it I will get a stocking. So I pour it out and it's mostly candy, chapstick and various misc. dollar store items. Then out comes the undies. And mind you, my STEP-dad was sitting there watching me. Ugh. Just weird. Mom, seriously....Red candy undies. My husband got a snicker out of that.
