Lyle Kimo Valdez (eskablong) | 40 comments Oh yeah. Everlost is the Skinjacker series right? Im adding that. Thanks!

message 202: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (peanutty222) | 529 comments Yes, the first 2 Skinjacker books are out, the third comes out in May 2011.

message 203: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I want to read Everlost too, I think that's going to my book purchase for this weekend. I buy two, so I have to decide on the second one.

I added Bruiser and Unwind to my TBR.

message 204: by Catherine (new)

Catherine (cattymccat) | 95 comments Has anyone read Blood Song by Cat Adams? And if so, is it any good?

message 205: by Kurukka (last edited Nov 10, 2010 09:51AM) (new)

Kurukka I just received The Graveyard Book and The Ask and the Answer this morning and am excited about these two :) They'll be the two first books I read for the Rainbow challenge, yay!

message 206: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Yay Cecelia! Both good books (The Ask was awesome).

message 207: by J.C. (new)

J.C. | 30 comments Am on to chapter five of Hush Hush, glad I bought it. I'm enjoying the characters so far, and the plot is moving along nicely.

message 208: by Traci (new)

Traci sooo I went on a slight book binge this week..

The Maze Runner (Maze Runner, #1) by James Dashner Deadly Little Secret (Touch, #1) by Laurie Faria Stolarz Vampire Academy (Vampire Academy, #1) by Richelle Mead The Devouring (The Devouring, #1) by Simon Holt This Lullaby by Sarah Dessen Along for the Ride by Sarah Dessen Sloppy Firsts (Jessica Darling, #1) by Megan McCafferty

oops. I also got I Am the Messenger, but I've finished that already
and a book I have to read for class called Waiter Rant.

I just want to dive into this stack but I don't have time! :(

message 209: by Kristen (new)

Kristen (k10bentley) I recently won a grant to buy books for my classroom and my colleagues' classrooms. It was so cool to see 115 books all stacked up on a table in my class! It was like Christmas in October and my students were drooling over them! I ordered multiple copies of: The Brothers Torres by Coert Voorhees
Linger (The Wolves of Mercy Falls, #2) by Maggie Stiefvater Birthmarked (Birthmarked, #1) by Caragh M. O'Brien The Pillow Book of Lotus Lowenstein by Libby Schmais Beautiful Creatures (Caster Chronicles, #1) by Kami Garcia Ship Breaker (Ship Breaker, #1) by Paolo Bacigalupi Jumped by Rita Williams-Garcia Crank (Crank, #1) by Ellen Hopkins Glimpse by Carol Lynch Williams Wolves, Boys and Other Things That Might Kill Me by Kristen Chandler White Cat (Curse Workers, #1) by Holly Black

message 210: by Kristen (new)

Kristen (k10bentley) I loved Unwind, too! It is on my top ten list!

message 211: by Kristen (new)

Kristen (k10bentley) My favorite "stumble-upon" book was Beatle Meets Destiny by Gabrielle Williams

I checked it out from the library and couldn't put it down!

message 212: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Bluemoon wrote: "I have Graceling, The Alchemyst and City of Bones, in audio, waiting for me in the library..."

Oh! Oh! Oh! Bluemoon is going to the library again! Graceling on audio is excellent. Let me know if City of Bones is good on audio as I hated it in print and stopped reading it.

message 213: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Congrats on your grant Kristen. Traci I am sure you already said, but what were your final thoughts on I am Messenger?

message 214: by Traci (new)

Traci Heidi I wrote: "Congrats on your grant Kristen. Traci I am sure you already said, but what were your final thoughts on I am Messenger?"

I liked the whole book until the end. It kind of ruined it for me. :(

message 215: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Ok, someone who has read this help me out here. I am having a hard time coping with the actions of the characters and their ages in Ender's Game (Ender's Saga, #1) by Orson Scott Card . Don't get me wrong, it's good and interesting BUT every time something happens I want to scream, "You're only XX years old!!".

That's all.

But maybe they're just different in the future??

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 1328 comments ummm, I think that's kinda the point Peep.

message 217: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments It is the point. Ender was specifically bred for his brain. And yes I said "bred". Like the government produced him. He's supposed to be one of the smartest people ever. And all the kids in his school are the same way.

message 218: by Joy (new)

Joy Hello! I am officially on holidays for a week so I have been stocking up on some books to read while I spend the week relaxing!

I just recieved Glass HousesThe Betrayal of Natalie HargroveTomorrow, When the War Began

I am waiting for I Hope They Serve Beer In HellCrescendofrom the book depository

I just borrowed The LuxePretty Little Liarsfrom the library!

As for the how many books I have that I haven't read I would be too ashamed to count! but I have made a promise to myself that I won't buy anymore books until I have less than 3 I haven't read!

message 219: by Catherine (new)

Catherine (cattymccat) | 95 comments I need to make that promise to myself... But I probably never will. lol

message 220: by Joy (new)

Joy lol well i made that promise last week and so far so good!

message 221: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Brittany wrote: "ummm, I think that's kinda the point Peep."

Do you think it's worth purchasing? My library doesn't carry it.

message 223: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (peanutty222) | 529 comments I'm finally cracking open The Replacement by Brenna Yovanoff today.

message 224: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Amanda, let me know how it is...

Arphaxad | 335 comments Peep wrote: "Brittany wrote: "ummm, I think that's kinda the point Peep."

Yeah, as it unfolds you start to realize just how insanely, off-the-charts, outside-the-realms-of-possibility intelligent the kids in the Enderverse are! But I love that; I think the books make it work incredibly well, and vice versa, so I had no trouble going with it :)

(Plus I have a thing for child-prodigy/genius characters! Artemis Fowl comes to mind..)

message 226: by Arphaxad (new)

Arphaxad | 335 comments Becca wrote: "It is the point. Ender was specifically bred for his brain.."

That reminds me: if you guys have not read the short story in First Meetings by Orson Scott Card about how Ender's parents met..do so! They're quite unexpectedly awesome themselves :)

message 227: by Lyle Kimo (new)

Lyle Kimo Valdez (eskablong) | 40 comments Added it! thanks! Btw, is the shadow series good too? haven't read that yet.

message 228: by Tracy T. (last edited Nov 11, 2010 07:08AM) (new)

Tracy T. Bought: Dreamfever by Karen Marie Moning
Library: Royal Blood (Her Royal Spyness Mysteries, #4) by Rhys Bowen
Swapped: 2 Bodies For The Price Of 1 (Body Movers, #2) by Stephanie Bond Night Lost (Darkyn, #4) by Lynn Viehl Definitely Dead (Sookie Stackhouse, #6) by Charlaine Harris Heart of Darkness (Includes Lords of the Underworld, #4.5) by Gena Showalter Dark Side of the Moon (Dark-Hunter, #9) (Were-Hunter, #4) by Sherrilyn Kenyon

I'm thinking about making a trip to the library tomorrow and actually taking out some books, even though I'm addicted to my ereader.

message 229: by Arphaxad (last edited Nov 11, 2010 09:58AM) (new)

Arphaxad | 335 comments Lyle Kimo wrote: Added it! thanks! Btw, is the shadow series good too? haven't read that yet.

Ender's Shadow (Shadow Series, #1) by Orson Scott Card is parallel with Ender's Game and really good - so if you liked one, it's highly likely you'll love the other too. I really enjoyed the other three Shadow books as well, though they're not quite on a par with EG and ES (but that's an extremely high standard to live up to).
Definitely read the first one anyway, and see how you go from there!

message 230: by Lyle Kimo (new)

Lyle Kimo Valdez (eskablong) | 40 comments OK.. I got a copy of Shadow Puppets (Shadow Series, #3) by Orson Scott Card , but I still have to find the first 2 books. :D

Is this the Fever series that everyone seems to love so much? TBRed!

message 234: by Tracy T. (new)

Tracy T. Amanda wrote: "Tracy wrote: "Bought: Dreamfever by Karen Marie Moning"

Good buy!"

I know. I had the first 3 in paperback and I'm one of those people that all the books have to match. Now if only the last Percy Jackson would come out in paperback .

message 235: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (peanutty222) | 529 comments I bought the first two Fever in hardcover at half priced books, so I splurged and got the last two on amazon for a small fortune, but I had to have the whole set in hardcover. My Mortal Insturments series is like that, I've been trying to find city of Bone and City of Ashes in hardcover, but all I find is paperback, and my copies have been through the wringer.

I know! What was with that ending??? I loved the book overall though, so I kind of erased the ending from my mind. That Doorman cracked me up.

message 237: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Tracy I just read the first book in the "Her Royal Spyness" series and really liked it. Also, I have eyed the Stephanie Bond series off and on, but have not bitten yet. Please give an update on it whenever you get to it. Thanks!

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 1328 comments Peep wrote: "Brittany wrote: "ummm, I think that's kinda the point Peep."

Keep reading, it starts to make sense. I haven't read any of the sequels yet, but I plan on it.

message 239: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Thanks Brittany. It's slow going, but the strange thing is I like it when I'm reading it and I really like Ender. Actually, I like everybody, even those that are kind of bad or scary.

message 240: by Arphaxad (new)

Arphaxad | 335 comments I don't know how Orson Scott Card manages to make me forge such emotional connections with his characters - that's a rare thing for me, but it always happens with his books. Ender has got to be my favourite fictional character, hands down - despite being like, six years old :D

In other news, Finnikin arrived in the post today! Excitement :)

message 241: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Just picked up Amy & Roger's Epic Detour by Morgan Matson and Crazy by Han Nolan from the library today. Also got Garden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen on audio.

message 242: by Gwennie (last edited Nov 11, 2010 05:24PM) (new)

I really loved the first book in the Shadow series as well. I haven't gotten to the rest of them. They are waiting for me in itunes.

Book Sp(l)ot | 7 comments Catherine wrote: "Has anyone read Blood Song by Cat Adams? And if so, is it any good?"

I'm curious about that one, too

I just got Freefall by Mindi Scott & The Iron King (Iron Fey, #1) by Julie Kagawa from the library. And just finished Paranormalcy (Paranormalcy, #1) by Kiersten White which I loved.
