Arphaxad | 335 comments I like the new Ender cover, but I'm not sure it suits the book! Mine looks like this Ender's Game (Ender's Saga, #1) by Orson Scott Card

And I completely agree that it transcends the sci-fi genre; don't be put off. I don't read sci-fi in general, but Ender is one of my favourite books (and characters) ever! I'm rereading my shiny new copy right now, actually, with great glee :D
Definitely belongs to the 'everyone should read this' category, I'd say - regardless of genre. Aaand I'll try to stop raving now ;)

@Tiphaine: yay, the Night Angel series! I'd forgotten about those..I really need to read books 2 and 3. Assassins are awesome :)

Becca | 1608 comments Yay Piper! You'll love it!

Rach (pagesofpiper) (piperbunny) I hope so, unfortunately, the only copy my library has is a large print one. Ive never read in large print before :)

Mila Piper wrote: "I hope so, unfortunately, the only copy my library has is a large print one. Ive never read in large print before :)"

Neither have I. Do you like it? Or do you prefer regular hardcovers?

message 106: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Piper I read a lot of cozy mysteries, which I guess a lot of senior citizens also read, so a lot of them are in large print. I actually kind of like them every once in awhile. Beware, when you go back to read a regular book afterwards you will be squinting your eyes - I just did this last night when I switched to a new book! I am suprised Graceling is in LP since it is a YA book. I loved it on audiobook.

message 107: by J.C. (new)

J.C. | 30 comments I'm waiting for Hush Hush and Stolen, but Everlost sounds good, will have to look into ordering that next. Unfortunately I have to buy everything because I live in France and can't get any decent books in English from the library (Booh). I really love the covers/art work of new books, the art work for Shiver, Linger and one I've just finished, Finding Sky, were great, I'm a cover girl, it's the first thing that draws me in--am I strange?. Piper let me know how Claire De Lune goes, I was tempted to buy it myself recently.

So many good books, so little time!

Rach (pagesofpiper) (piperbunny) Will do Erin, but it might not be for a while. have you tried certain websites like paperback swap?

Heidi I wrote: "Piper I read a lot of cozy mysteries, which I guess a lot of senior citizens also read, so a lot of them are in large print. I actually kind of like them every once in awhile. Beware, when you go ..."

It's classified as sci-fi in my library, although thinking about it we do have some YA (or 14+ as we call it) in large print... only a cuple of really popular ones, same for childrens too.

message 110: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Becca wrote: "Yay Piper! You'll love it!"

I keep looking at it when I go to the bookstore. I wasn't sure if everyone was raving about how good it was, or if it the majority was disappoited.

message 111: by Heidi (new)

Heidi I think the majority love Graceling in this group. Fire is another story.

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 1328 comments Wendy... Graceling is fantastic. Pick it up! I really liked Fire too, but here's some advice the girls gave to me before I read it. I followed the advice and I'm really glad I did. I think it made reading Fire that much more enjoyable.

If you love Graceling as much as we all did I would recommend taking a break and reading a few other books before picking up Fire. If you do this I think you will enjoy Fire a lot more than if you go straight from Graceling into Fire. Not because Fire is a bad book I really enjoyed it, but there are so many things that are different about it that I know I personally needed to disconnect from the characters in Graceling in order to better enjoy it. (This will make sense once you're read them I promise)

But the moral of the story is you should pick up Graceling and soon because it's great!

message 113: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments yes, this is true. oh so good! I love Graceling. Still my favorite book this year.

Rach (pagesofpiper) (piperbunny) Thanks for the advice :)

message 123: by Tiphaine (new)

Tiphaine | 71 comments Erin wrote: "(...) Unfortunately I have to buy everything because I live in France and can't get any decent (...)"

I know how you feel, I wish there was more interesting books (well, books I want to read!) at the library because it's quite expensive to buy every book I want and when I didn't like one book, I don't want to keep it but I don't know what to do with it.

message 124: by Lyle Kimo (new)

Lyle Kimo Valdez (eskablong) | 40 comments Bluemoon wrote: "Finnikin is available on Kindle...hehehehe...

Finnikin is out of stock in the bookstores here... If I order it, it takes 6-8 weeks >.<

message 125: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I ordered mine off Amazon, it came within a week.

message 126: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Amazon is my favorite website ever for ordering things. Other than that I love Borders because I can use my weekly coupons there :)

message 127: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) You get the Borders rewards? I love my 40% off coupons and my Borders Bucks. But a good amount of time I order from Amazon.

Rach (pagesofpiper) (piperbunny) Erin wrote: "Piper, thanks for the info on paperback swaps. I will be searching through all the books I no longer want to exchange for different ones now!"

That's okay, I found out from this group, I hope it works as I've never used it myself. :)

message 129: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) I use pbs a lot and love it. You'll get better results if you check the discussion groups on there. They don't talk nearly as much as we do, but it's great for getting books. I "watch" the topics for wishlist books available and unpostable books available for the genres I like. It's also a great way to get rid of your books. You can send them in multiples so you don't have to pay more in shipping.

message 130: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Wendy wrote: "You get the Borders rewards? I love my 40% off coupons and my Borders Bucks. But a good amount of time I order from Amazon."

Don't you get weekly coupons emailed from Borders? If not just type in Borders coupon and most of the coupon sites have the current coupons - they are usually 33-40% off 1 item.

message 131: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) yeah, I get those too. I also get borders money. So basically every few weeks I get 10 dollars in Borders money for using my rewards card.

message 132: by Heidi (new)

Heidi I love Borders :)

message 133: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) We only have a small Borders Outlet here. I don't think I've been in a real Borders. I have been in a real Barnes and Noble though, but that was a while ago.

message 134: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) We have a large Borders store here, and right down the street is a large Barnes & Noble.
