Jennifer I am curious as to what everyone does in regards to turning off your Nook? Do you hold the power button and turn it all the way off when you go to sleep or do you leave it in sleep (haha) mode? Does it drain the battery more to keep turning it on and off every day?

★Meghan★ (starinheaven) | 340 comments I am not entirely sure if it drains the battery but I always leave my Nook in sleep mode and don't play with it other than that.

Donnajo I was turning it completely off but the manager at B&N said not too. He said leave it in sleep mode. One time it seemed to drain fast but maybe the button was pressed and the power was on. From what I can tell if you go on the nook everyday it doesn't seem to go down too much.

Carrie (Care) (care76) I never turn mine off unless the battery is really low and I can't charge it right away.

Scott | 292 comments You are not supposed to turn it off. It uses up more power than just leaving it in sleep mode.

Good to know -- I've been turning it off at night but it sounds like I'm better off keeping it in sleep mode when I'm not using it. Thanks.

Lori {Romancing the Dark Side} (romancingthedarkside) I usually leave it on and just charge it but when I'm reading I tend to shut the wi-fi off so that my battery lasts longer.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I never have the wi-fi on unless I'm shopping or reading reviews.

It never hurts to let your battery run all the way down every once in a while before charging. Plugging something in constantly that is more than halfway charged tends to fool the battery into thinking that there's less of a charge on it. No clue why...

★Meghan★ (starinheaven) | 340 comments I always wait for my Nook to actually tell me that it needs to be charged and then I will read it a little more and then charge it. I leave it alone while it is charging and either read a paper book or go watch a movie or something different. It usually works out really well for me that way.

Linda Boyd (boydlinda95gmailcom) | 360 comments Per a salesrep at B&N, the Nook should be left in sleep mode. the salesrep also said not to let the battery "die" out completely, he said it could take a day or two to recharge it fully. I ususally just let the Nook tell me when to charge the battery. Otherwise when I am not reading it, it is sleeping.

Jacqui Bailey | 2 comments I let mine go to sleep mode and I charge every few days regardless

TheThirdLie I let mine just sleep as well. The manual and other B&N media has said that it's better to just let it sleep rather than turn it off and on all the time. It takes so little power to keep the screensaver going that it's alright to leave it.

Jennifer (thebooknympho) I just let it go into sleep mode and I don't charge it until I get the warning.
