Introduce yourself (If you want to :-)
It's me. Dustin. I live in the People's Republic of Boulder, Colorado and John Saul is one of my must-read authors. I've been kinda hungry to read another John Saul book. I wasn't real impressed with last years House of Reckoning: A Novel but I'm ready to give him another try. A few of my personal favorites are:The Homing,The Blackstone Chronicles,Shadows and The Manhattan Hunt Club Glad to see this group forming. Thanks Jenna for taking this on - I know how much work moderating a group is :-)

I have been reading John's books for quite a long time now. I just love his style of writing. I quite liked his Faces of Fear, I thought the story line was brilliant. I also loved The Manhattan Hunt Club.

I just sent out an invite to all my goodreads friends (90 invites) hope a few will come have fun with us :-) At any rate, we'll soon have more members than that other John Saul group because I'm about to remove my membership and I think there it's been sitting at only 6 members for most of this year. I don't know what happened to Tom, who started that group last December. Maybe he's having too much fun on Facebook and so he's not active on goodreads anymore - just a guess.

So, House of Reckoning is the only one you haven't read? You've already read Dark of the Night and Midnight Voices and all his older titles?

:-) How Wonderful!!!! We're reading Black Creek Crossing as a group as our November Group Read - that would be a great place to start :-) I'm going to pick up the audio book at the library today but I might not get started right away unless I feel I simply can not wait - I've got a few other titles in line but I may let John Saul butt in line if I feel like it - at any rate, I'll be starting BCC by November and it'll be fun to read with other fans both long time devotees and newbies. Thanks for joining the group Erica - will you join us in reading Black Creek Crossing too?

Black Creek Crossing sounds good, so I definitely will!

I've read several Saul books but haven't read anything by him recently.

Jenna, the group rules say no swearing. Does that mean I can't write H*ll, D*mn, and Sh*t?(note vowels have been replaced with * to hide full indecency) Will you be deleting comments with these words? I'm curious because sometimes these words just slip at my fingertips before I can catch them :-) Thanks.

I anticipate getting in trouble with the swearing too. Some books just bring out the worst...and clerks...and politicians...and
:-) Good, Good, Good. I liked Faces of Fear, even if it is rather predictable - it had a nice ending, which wasn't typical of John Saul - he tends to have really bizarre endings to most of his books. I've never read Bentley Little but he's been recommended to me more than once. I don't swear much but I may say something like "This book is full of sh*t!" or "Holy H*ll - This is a D*mn Good Book!" and I'm just wondering if Jenna is gonna get after me ;-)

I honesy prefer no swearing. If you can catch it and correct it, it'd be appreciated. :) I may delete them if i think its too bad but if its not horrible i may not.

It is meant mostly for vulgarity, or calling at people or being disrespectful to an author. :)

I started by reading The Blackstone Chronicles. When I was a teenager, my first job was at a grocery store which had a reading/magazine section. The first book in the series caught my "eye":
It looked like a good scary story that was nice and short. This was around the same time that King was publishing his serial novels of The Green Mile. I was hooked right away and Saul has been a must read ever since - I have to read every new book he publishes. There are still many of his older books I have not read though.

ahhh i c i c! Ive been a huge Koontz fan for years. Last year about mid last year, I was chatting in a Koontz group I belong to on FB about Koontz's books, and someone asked if I had read Saul. I said no, what does he write? Right away the following weekend my fiance and I took a trip to B&N in Fairlawn and I read the backs of all his stuff..I then in the next week proceeded to buy 5 of his books, and am still working on reading all of his works. Next one Black stone..in between my critic books and Darkfall
The new group rules state: Please no vulgarity and limited swearing.
Limited Swearing! Jenna you are too funny! :-)
