Do you have to read this series in order?

Jenny When I first started this series, I started with Dime Store Magic and Industrial Magic then discovered that there was two before them. I went back and read Bitten and Stolen. Now you do not need to read them in order but as you get further into the series the more cross references I found that make sense if you have read them in order.

Including the ones that were free on her website they are now short stories in Men from the Otherworld and Tales of the Otherworld.

They give you background information for some of the characters in the stories and I found they gave me more understanding for why the the characters did some of the things that they did in their stories.

I'm now playing catch up with this series as here in Canada the publishers decided to change all the books over to trade paperback size and I have the first eight in regular paperback hoping that they would release them in that version but it seems that if they do it will be a long time and I really want to read the ones that I haven't and I am looking forward to Savannah's stories.

Okay, so I seem to be one of the few who have read the books in order - I usually do even if I don't have to. Well, this way they made more sense to me because there are some references to what happened in the past, and the series is in chronological order, not something that happens at the same time. Elena is a strong heroine... I wouldn't skip her story ;)

Serene I really only like her werewolf stories. The other books in the series just aren't as good in my opinion. So I see no reason not to skip the other books in the series and read the werewolf ones in order.

Ashley-Anne nope I only read Elena's books. I read the first paige book and didnt like her so I only read elena. besides, I'm quite partial to the werewolves. and you dont need to read them all, theyre pretty easy to follow

Prami{reader and dreamer} After Stolen and Bitten, which are the Elena/Clay books?

Thanks. :)

I'll read the series in order, though. Asked out of curiosity.

Dhfan4life I'm curious do all the characters in this series relate in some way? Cause I could have sworn I seen on Armstrong's site that the books seemed to be about Elena but yet the other books seemed to be about witches or demons. I was also told that each book is about different couples. So is this multiple series in one or what exactly?

Katie ive read 1-12 but strated with book 3, im waiting for my library to get book 13 in so im currently reading men of the otherworld which is amazing!!!!

The characters in this series aren't related as family but they are friends. The series starts off with Elena and Clay and their story. Then moves onto Paige & Lucas this is where Elena meets the rest. The short stories which make up Men of the Otherworld and Tales of the Otherworld give lots of back ground information on how the characters know each other.
There is a mix of different species from werewolves, demons, warlocks, witches. It's an amazing world that Kelley Armstrong has built and some characters I like and others I'm not as invested in. Unlike some that perfer only Elena's book which I love, but I also like the other characters from Paige and Lucas to Eve, Krisoff, Jamie, Jeremy, Hope, Karl, Robyn and lastly Savannah. Savannah is the book that I have been waiting for now I just have to finish reading to get to them. All the stories don't interect but they seem to be building to something. At least IMHO.

Dhfan4life Huh, interesting. Well I'll be keeping with it. Just audio version so I can get through them quicker. That first one was a bit of a doozy for me. As I appreciated the richness of the world. But for some reason it was just so heavy and intense for me.

Madison Melissa wrote: "does anyone know if jeremy has a book if so what is the name"

he is in "No Humans Involved" with Jamie (necromancer). She is the narrator... its my favourite book in the series :)

Courtney No you don't have to. Some little things may be easier to understand if you read them in order but no, to understand the main story you can read them in a different order.
I read Frostbitten before I read No Humans Involved and had no problem with it.

Mary Loesch I actually read one of the books towards the end of the series first, not realizing how many there are. It was good enough for me to go back and start from the beginning. I really liked most of them.

Charley (charley_reads) Nope, I got given Stolen - book #2 - and it made enough references for me to understand the situation without reading Bitten - book #1 - (before I knew there was even a series, I just thought it was a stand alone book).

But I think it helps, you just feel like you know about the verse and the characters more.

I've now read all of the werewole books in order and am planning to finish all of the other books before reading the finale, 13 that came out last week.

I'm one of those people that hates spoilers, like if I know someone will end up dead in 13, I just think 'oh, well, it doesn't matter now, they die in a few books anyway'.

Sarri Morin This is an awesome series. I whipped through these books. I couldn't put these books down once I started them. The story lines are great is quite addictive once you get going. I started with Bitten and then went to Stolen (First book). I definately reccommend reading the series in order though.

Paganalexandria I don't think you have to read the first of the series in order but wouldn't suggest picking up 13 and expecting to grasp what is going on.
