Drake sneered. "Exactly," he mocked, whip hidden once more.

((That's gotta be good enough.))

Strolling in the arena with his axe slung over his shoulder, Evander caught sight of three things.
The first was the farthest target. With a tremendous show of strength he tilted his axe back and whirled it towards the target without a second glance, listening to the far-away thunk as it sliced into bull's-eye.
The second: Two kids wrestling with each other or something-- a screaming girl and a glowering boy.
The third: Drake.
His nuisance of a brother.
Standing there in front of what had probably been a defenseless girl, her arm latticed with ruby red.
"Hi, Drake," Evander said with that calm and calculating smile, sidling up to the scowling boy.

((Gots ter go eat muffins~))

"Evander," Drake replied, acknowledging his brother with a small nod. A sort of cruel amusement glinted in his dark eyes. His hands were in his pockets once more.

"What the fuck are you doing?" Evander asked in the same calm way, adding a smile that belied the fury underlying his facade of neutrality.

"My mistake. Ther must be another weak, cowardly pussy with a whip in camp, then," Evander said in a voice barely quieter than a whisper, his aura flaring about around him. It wasn't as obvious as his usual magic-- this was subtle, darker. More advanced.

((Drakie's fear?))

((fffu. erm. Let's act like I know what I'm talking about while I figure it out...))

Had Drake felt fear, he showed no sign of it, though on the inside, he was storming. "And I suppose there's another @ss at camp who provokes fear for the hell of it."

((loss of power))

Evander nodded, as if this was what he was expecting. "Honey," he said, voice dripping with endless amounts of cynical sarcasm, "I don't do it for the hell of it. Only when provoked. As to being an ass? I don't deny it." Evander's cold eyes glittered as he filled Drake with the sense of utter hopeless powerlessness, lost and helpless.
"I've got a deal for you, Drakie. Continue doing what seems to amuse you and I'll make sure you've got a hell of a lot more scars than that fucked up thing you have going on your arms. I'm sick and tired of this. You think this makes you the king of camp or something?" Evander looked down at Drake with the first signs of anger hardening in his eyes, and it was not a pleasant sight. "Well, I've got news for you. There exists such things as gods. And, well, if you go around playing one... they won't like it. And it won't be up to me to kick your sorry little ass back into place."
Evander strolled forward, his face as calm as if he'd just enquired about the weather, and plucked the embedded axe from the target.

Drake gripped the weapon in his hand, emotions stirring from where ever they lay hidden in the vacant area of his heart. And unfathomable fear. He, however, managed to keep his eyes the same cold black as he stared after Evander. He, oddly, was at a loss for words. His mouth was twitching into a scowl worn far too often. Drake, being who he was, could have done so much more, had he not been nailed with the little seed of fear. The soulless being had emotions, as it turned out, though to him, it was a sort of shock, as he hadn't felt them for however long.
Finally, Drake found his words.
"You know it's in our nature to strike fear into people. You of all people should know that."

Having already circled the range and brought back his axe, Evander now heard Drake's statement and shook his head twice. "Striking fear into people and leaving them horribly disfigured with mindless whipping are two different things, Drakie. I of all people know that, because I understand it, unlike you. Like a child, you don't know when to stop. And that is why I call you a weak coward."
Swinging his axe dangerously close to Drake's head, Evander turned and walked back to his cabin.

Drake stood, watching the fading figure of his brother with an angered expression on his face. He stood there for several moments before turning and stalking off. Coward, he scowled. Yeah right. Being as thick as he was, Drake shoved his pockets and simply walked away as if nothing had happened.

*~Silvypoo~* (Chaser of Artemis) (Silverfur) | 14363 comments "F*ck," Ashleigh moaned, gripping her arm as blood gushed from the deep wound. She didn't want to cry, but the pain was too unbearable not to cry. Tears fled from her eyeducts, and she layed on the ground in pain. Why the hell was I standing so close anyway? That was way too close for me to be by anyone. Godsdamnit, I didn't even mean to kiss him! It was an accident. Thank the gods that Evander came so I only have one wound. Oh Jesus Christ this f*cking hurts!

"Relax," he coaxed, trying to get her to stop freaking screaming. "I did read it, and I think you woukd have if you were in my shoes. But I did keep it away from an annoying girl who tried to take it. I don't understand why you're so angry. I loved your writing, it's brilliant. Or, I guess I mean that you're brilliant." Cassidy pulled her hands out of her pockets. She stood across from one of the various targets, javelin in hand. Her expression was passive.

With a heave, Evander pulled out his axe from the nearest target and slammed it into the ground so it stayed there, balanced by its blade. He was looking positively furious-- rage darkened his features and he glowered at his axe like he wanted it to burn.

At least she, unlike some, had half a mind to keep quite around a certain few children of Phobos. Cassidy stole one glance at Evander and simply turned back to her own target. She balanced the javelin in her hand, then let it fly through the air. Of course, it landed right beside the son of Phobos.
Ffffffudge.

With a scowl, Evander caught the javelin before it hit the ground and hefted it in his arm. He threw it back so forcefully that it quivered, dead-centre, in the target. "Watch it, chick," Evander said in the most degrading way possible, though his tone was, as always, quiet.

And you're proud of inflicting fear because... She was very tempted to prompt her question aloud, though she'd heard far too many stories to say a word. Cassidy strode down to the targets, and ripped out the javelin that had lodged itself into one of them.

He could sense the fear to ask a certain question-- though what he couldn't tell-- so Evander looked at her. "Go ahead, ask whatever's bugging you, I don't bite," Evander said with a disarmingly charming smile. No. I don't bite. My power is purely mental.
