Vivian: Lover Eternal
Shelleyrae: Fallen
Sallie: Dead in the Family

I am still trying to read Blood Bound - what I have read so far I am liking just as much as I did Moon Called. It is very hectic at my house right now - family is here from Atlanta, Georgia (my parents) & there is no reading with this bunch...everytime I think I can sit down & read my book either my Mother is calling for me to come & see something for Christmas gifts or my Daddy is calling for me to help with some crazy computer issue - I need to read people - but I love having my parents here so I deal :)

Hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving!!!

AmandaG (amandag3) | 122 comments YAY I finally finished Sin Undone for the shifters challenge! Y'all I've had this as part of a challenge every month since it came out so I'm happy to mark it off my list.

Sin Undone (Demonica, #5) by Larissa Ione by Larissa Ione ****
I really liked this book. Once I got past the first quarter of the book I didn't want to put it down. Sin is a succubus who has a 'gift' that allows her to infect others with a disease. It has come in handy being an assassin and all. However, she has created an epidemic that has begun infecting wargs (werewolves). She begins being hunted down by seemingly everyone and their mama but helping her evade them and survive (as a succubus she needs sex to live [of course]) is the sexy dhampire Conall.

There is of course the requisite misunderstandings and lies for the others benefit and all that. Throughout the book they're trying to find a cure for the epidemic and figure out their feelings for one another. I thought the chemistry between Sin and Con was great. I enjoyed seeing the previous characters from the rest of the Demonica series. I like the Demonica world and I tend to remember things from previous books even if I haven't read it in a while. I will definitely pick up more Larissa Ione books and highly recommend the series to others.

Sallie(GeorgiaGirl) (shuga) | 1143 comments Great Job Ladies - we have another square completed...I should be able to finish my book by the weekend I hope :)....anyway, I hope everyone enjoys time with Family & Friends this Thanksgiving Holiday...

message 211: by Shelleyrae (new)

Shelleyrae at Book'd Out | 346 comments I've finished Fallen, sadly it wasn't for me so only a rating of two stars. Finished Nov 24th

Review is here: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

message 212: by Vivian (new)

Vivian (_vivian) | 1934 comments I agree with a lot of your points on Fallen. There were flaws, but I did like it. I think the second book improves a lot even if I still don't totally get the Luce/Daniel relationship. It always bugs me when people meet and immediately fall hopelessly in love without any relationship development. I'm still waiting for several questions to be answered but I think it's a series that will improve with each book.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Jackie M | 695 comments I have completed my Supernatural-Romance book.

Evermore read 11/30/2010 3 stars.
This was a story about Ever who had the perfect life, but it was all destroyed by a car accident.
The car accident left her an orphan and with a new ability. Ever hides behind her hoodies and MP3 player to get through each day and then along comes Damen her personal savior. This book had a lot of twists and turns and I enjoyed it. I will be reading the next book in the series.

Sallie(GeorgiaGirl) (shuga) | 1143 comments Jackie - I liked this book too.

Im still schlepping my way thru Blood Bound - seems like it is taking me forever but I only get to read about a chapter per day...at this rate I may finish by Feb 2011 LOL..anyway, hope everyone is doing well...

Vivian (_vivian) | 1934 comments How are you liking Moon Called so far?

I just re-read it (and I very rarely get through re-reads), and LOVED it the second time. It got 4 stars initially, but was bumped up to 5. It's one of my favorite series.

Oh - and ended up changing my read for Supernatural-Romance category. Just not in the mood for Lover Eternal so reading Nice Girls Don't Have Fangs. I've been slow with the reading lately too, but liking it so far.

message 223: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments (Mercy) That's a favorite series of mine too! Good one!

I enjoyed the "Jane Jameson" series, Vivian. Few little things bugged me here & there, but overall light reads. Hope you like it. It'll be a much lighter read than Lover Eternal. Rhage is one of my fave brothers though. ;)

Happy Reading, Everyone!!

Vivian (_vivian) | 1934 comments Oh dear, I'm falling behind in my reading! But this next one is a great category - so many books I want to read...

Time to bust out my new Kindle and do some reading!!! (I'm really excited about it)

Congrats on getting your new Kindle, Vivian!!!! I got one for Xmas but ended up taking it hostage a week ago. I hope you love it as much as I'm starting to.

message 230: by Vivian (new)

Vivian (_vivian) | 1934 comments I'm scared, Amazon is devious, making it too easy to buy books, lol. I've been so busy playing with it the last couple of days, I haven't actually gotten around to reading anything outside of the users guide (I'm dorky like that).

message 231: by Vivian (new)

Vivian (_vivian) | 1934 comments The only downside so far is I can't put library ebooks on there, but otherwise, loving it! I got a pandigital novel last week and returned it, then agonized between nook and kindle forever, but I'm really happy with my new toy :)

message 232: by Desperado (last edited Dec 04, 2010 05:31PM) (new)

Desperado (lethallovely) | 1360 comments You are NOT dorky! I read countless FAQs & watched numerous "How to Use Your Kindle" videos on Youtube in preparation. Hell, I've had it less than a week & I'm still hanging around the Amazon Kindle forums, looking for more info. I won't even eat around this sucker, I'm so afraid I'm gonna break it.

BTW, I totally agree with you on Amazon's deviousness. That damn "1-click" buy button will be the death of my bank account. I've already bought 8 books because I got suckered by the orange button.

message 233: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments LOL! Yep, eBuying it WAY too easy! Enjoy your new toy, Vivian! :D

message 234: by Vivian (new)

Vivian (_vivian) | 1934 comments Oh, I happily accept the dork I am, no worries :)

And I've been clicking around everywhere reading up on the Kindle. I've only bought 1 *so far*, ask me again in a week, and the answer will have changed. But I've already justified it in my head because over the last couple months, I've collected so many freebies, paying for a few doesn't seem like that big a deal. Or something...

message 235: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments I like that justification, Vivian. Like a pay-it-forward type thing. :)

message 236: by Vivian (new)

Vivian (_vivian) | 1934 comments Exactly! Makes complete sense. Just remind me of that when it comes time to pay the credit card bill :)

message 237: by Shelleyrae (new)

Shelleyrae at Book'd Out | 346 comments I am deeply envious :) I so want a Kindle

By the way Viv apparently rumor has it that Amazon is making a deal with Overdrive so library books might be possible soon

message 238: by Shelleyrae (new)

Shelleyrae at Book'd Out | 346 comments I wish there was a way to search the shelves, it would make it much easier

I am going with Mob Rules by Cameron Haley because I just started reading it this morning for review. So far i really like it

Mob Rules (Underworld Cycle, #1) by Cameron Haley

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments How to check if a specific book is on one of our bingo shelves:
(hopefully it makes sense - I'll use Bone Crossed as an example )

1. Go to GR book page for the book you want to read
Bone Crossed book page

2. Scroll down the page just a bit and click on "popular shelves" (right side) for the book
Bone Crossed popular shelves

3. With that (popular shelves) page open in your browser, click: CTRL-F (Windows users) or Command-F (Mac users) to bring up your FIND option

4. Type the exact shelf name (as shown at the top of the GR shelf page ... newest shelf announcement example: current GR shelf page = urban-dark-fantasy) in the FIND search box

5. With the shelf name in your FIND search box, on the book's 'popular shelf' page, click NEXT as you scroll through each page. Sometimes you find it (EXAMPLE: Bone Crossed is shelved as 'urban-dark-fantasy' on page 3; column 2; 16 down) and sometimes you don't. You still have to scroll through the pages, but this way, the computer does the searching for you.

Wow! I'm not sure if that makes sense or not. I've included links and examples in hopes to make it easier to understand. But, let me know if it's a help or a mess that only makes sense to me. :)

message 240: by Shelleyrae (new)

Shelleyrae at Book'd Out | 346 comments Thanks Steph! That will make it easier!

message 241: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Yay! Hope it does help. I had my hubby read and walk thru my wonky directions to make sure it made a bit'o sense. :)

message 242: by Desperado (last edited Dec 04, 2010 08:42PM) (new)

Desperado (lethallovely) | 1360 comments I usually just flip through every page, keeping my eye on books on my TBR shelf & writing them down. Then I look through the list to see which ones I own & which ones I can get from the library & chose from there. I figure the book you want/plan on reading may not be on the shelf so why not save yourself the time of flipping through each page numerous times?

message 243: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments That's what I did last shelf b/c the ones I'd already set aside for other challenges weren't there.

message 244: by Vivian (last edited Dec 04, 2010 11:42PM) (new)

Vivian (_vivian) | 1934 comments Thanks Steph, makes perfect sense, definitely easier than scrolling. I was thinking a search within a shelf would be pretty useful too Shelley

message 245: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Great! I'm glad it all makes sense. Was hoping it helped vs. caused more frustration. :)

Sallie(GeorgiaGirl) (shuga) | 1143 comments I got my Kindle last Christmas & I absolutely LOVE IT!!! My Dad borrowed it & I liked to have never got it back, he even loaned it to a friend & they even tried to keep it...Good Grief go buy your own LOL....anyway, I love it & it is so much cheaper to buy those "just released" 900 page hardcover monsters. Ive learned all sorts of tricks with mine...My mom is giving my Dad one for Christmas so we will see how this works...

Sallie(GeorgiaGirl) (shuga) | 1143 comments Finally Ladies I finished Blood Bound - now I am only 2 books behind LOL...anyway, I loved this book - it was just as good as the first one in the Mercy Thompson series. I gave this book 4*s...definitely plan to continue with the series, cant wait to see what other kind of trouble Mercy finds herself in....

message 250: by Vivian (last edited Dec 05, 2010 08:55PM) (new)

Vivian (_vivian) | 1934 comments Yay Sallie! You gotta get caught up because the next one is coming out in January!!

Amazon and Overdrive - let's make it happen, that would be too exciting :)

Finished my Supernatural Romance book
Nice Girls Don't Have Fangs ***1/2
A lot of lol moments, Jane is full of sarcasm in a good way. I call it supernatural chicklit, so very light read, plot is pretty simple and predictable. The world reminded me a lot of Sookie's universe, with vampires recently coming out and buying bottled blood from supermarkets, that kinda thing. It didn't wow me, but I liked it, and would read on in the series when I want a fun, easy read.

Dark Urban Fantasy, I will read Spider's Bite.
