Just finished "Grave Witch" for our current shelf, dark paranormal romance. I give it 4 stars. I really enjoyed the characters and the plot was fast paced and intriguing. There are a lot more topics up for discussion so I'm looking forward to the next! :)
LOL! Glad you liked it, Ang. :) I'm so anxious to find out what our next shelf will be. We're all so close now.
One of my worst nightmares just came true, I lost my book. I've turned my whole place upside down and I just can't find it. So I'm going to have to change Spider's Bite by Jennifer Estep to The Dead Girls' Dance by Rachel Caine for this shelf.
Oh no. :( I'm sure it'll turn up, probably in the oddest spot. Maybe the fridge? LOL! Good luck finding it.
I lose things all the time. I'd seriously lose my head if it wasnt attached. Good luck finding it! It's probably hiding in plain site. That happens a lot to me.
Thanks very much. :) On the lighter side, I finished The Dead Girls' Dance by Rachel Caine today and I give it 3 stars. The series is starting to grow on me so I'm a bit excited to continue reading Claire's story. I would hope to never find myself in her situation though, that would be pretty bad and I wouldn't know what to do. Ripped between the two worlds and you land on the 'dinner' side is never good.
That's a series I may start in 2011. I've been on the edge about it a dozen+ times already. Time to just try #1 and see how I like it.
A Double Dose! Our next to shelf announcement dates: 12/20 and 1/3/11 are so close to the holidays I decided to post them now to give people a chance to read, relax and enjoy the season!
** NOTE: These are the last shelf announcements until next year. We will be posting SHELF #8 on Monday, 17 Jan. All members are encouraged to post updates as they read, as teams are getting very close to BINGO. You are welcome to read the following two shelves in order or visa versa, whichever works for you and your team. **

Finished my book for Urban Dark Fantasy.Sisters Red ★★★★☆ 12/14/10
SR is based on "Little Red Riding Hood." That alone hooked me. Then I read the book. It started off boring. Then got good. Then got boring & repetitive again, with the focus being almost completely on "hunting". Didn't like one of the MC's, Scarlett. Actually, dislike is too tame a word. I wanted to punch her damn lights out. Constantly. DID like Rosie & Silas. Thought the relationship between the two sisters was parasitic & creepy. Halfway through the book, I figured something extremely amazing needed to happen for me to give this book more than 3 stars. As you can tell, it did. The ending was freaking sensational. Had me on edge, wanting to know what was gonna happen next & at the same time, afraid to know. I wasn't disappointed. The end of SR saved this book from mediocrity. I'm glad I decided to stick with it. I guess it's one of the pluses of reading a book for a challenge. You feel like you have to finish to complete said challenge.

Good Job!! :D
I finally finished Passion Unleashed for the urban-dark-fantasy shelf. I enjoyed Wraith and Serena's story and look forward to reading Lore's story in the next book. I think I would have enjoyed it even more if I didn't keep getting distracted by all of the things going on this time of year. I can't wait for more reading time during my time off work over the holidays!Finished 12/16
4★
Read Dead Sexy for the urban fantasy paranormal shelf- 12/19/10 My ReviewFor the PNR Angeldemon, etc shelf, I'm looking at Into the Dark,Succubus Dreams, or Lament: The Faerie Queen's Deception. Not really sure yet...
Gah. I hated Succubus Dreams. I would have ripped it to pieces if it wasn't a library book. I did eat my favorite ice cream while reading it-making sure to get chocolatey goodness on some of the pages-as a way to tell SD to "f-off."Anyway, I probably won't read/post any books for the new shelves until after Xmas. I've got a few books that would fit downloaded on my K3 & I hate reading on the comp.
LOL! Yeah, I just can't seem to get back into that series. I've only read #1 +a tiny bit of #2. That was long enough ago that I'd have to reread that bit anyway. No worries! Happy Christmas! :D
Hi ladies!Just finished "Hex Hall" and it was a good and fast read. Lots of action and fantasy and lots of mystery. It was more geared to YA than most of the YA I've read out there but that didn't stop it from being interesting. Looking forward to the next one - I give it 4 stars!
For the PNR- angeldemon........ Shelf I'll be reading "White Cat" by Holly Black. Merry Christmas and happy new year ladies!! :))
Finished Stray by Rachel Vincent today and I give the book 3 stars. However I wasn't too into the beginning and ended up putting the book away for a later date to finish it. I'm not huge on love triangles or ex's coming back to be the lover again and was kinda hoping for a bit more of the romance relationship between Faythe and Marc in the end too. Overall it was enough to make me want to read the next book in the series.
Aske, the love triangle in that series is MAJOR throughout all the books, right up until the end. If that's not your cuppa, it might not get any better for you. If you stick with it though, I hope you'll enjoy it.
Well Steph I think that I'll try to stick with the series. It's nice to read something different once in a while and the Shifters series has caught my eye despite the live triangle and all.Finished Sin Undone by Larissa Ione on 12/26 and I give it 4 stars. Enjoyed this book like all her others in the Demonica series. The next book Eternal Rider sounds interesting but I'm not too sure if it will hold my attention like the Demonica books. Either way looking forward to it.
I think you'll like the series, Aske. Despite the love triangle, the series was (sorry it's over) one of my favorites. :)LOL, georgie! That's how we roll 'roun here. :D
I finished Glimmerglass by Jenna Black for the PNR Angeldemon shelf. This is the first book of hers that I have read and it definitely won't be the last. I really liked Dana's character and the whole faeriewalker premise. It will be interesting to see what happens in the next book as she tries to learn how to control her magic. I also want to check out the author's Morgan Kingsley series.Finished 12/29
★★★★
Good review, Amanda. Glad to see you enjoyed it. Fae aren't my fave, but I've got that book TBR for one of our challenges. Looking forward to it a bit more now. :)
Great review, Amanda! I'm planning on reading this book next month for a monthly challenge & it's a relief to know someone thought it was really good. After reading the first book in the Morgan Kingsley series-& hating it-I was very skeptical about trying another series by this author.
Finished my book for PNR-Angeldemon et cetera.The Fire Lord's Lover ★★☆☆☆ 12/29/10
This is the 2nd book I've read by Kennedy and the 2nd one I've read for this challenge. Since Enchanting the Lady was enjoyable-if a little on the superficial side-I'd hoped TFLL would be the same. It wasn't. It toke FOREVER for this damn book to go anywhere. In the meantime, Dominic-our hero-acted like a complete douche nozzle to our heroine-Cassandra. It was explained why he was the way he was but that doesn't change the fact that he treated Cass like shit for over half of the book. As for Cass? She intially came off as very strong & independent but quickly turned into a TSTL heroine when she fell head over heels for Dom. Of course, it was because he did a good job of screwing her in the bedroom & because he was so handsome. It certaintly wasn't because he wrote her sonnets. Why does love tend to turn strong women into dumbasses in romances? Anyway, the villain was heinous in an over-the-top way & he got his in the end. Which was probably my favorite part of the book. Other than that, nothing. Just a lot of angst, cow-eyes & sexing. I think I'll stick to Kennedy's "Relics of Merlin" series from now on.
LMAO!! Loved the review! Let me know if you read any more of her Relics series. I read ETL for a challenge a while back and liked it ok.
Thanks, Sandra & Steph! And will do, Steph! I'm doing another challenge that is forcing me to read historical paranormal romances & KK is the only author who writes that genre that I can tolerate right now.
I don't typically care for historicals, but I loved the Gardella Vampire Chronicles by Colleen Gleason. The first book is: The Rest Falls Away.
Thank you both for the recs. ☺ I have Soulless on hold at the library & it's been so long since I read The Rest Falls Away that I can't remember what I thought of it. I was thinking of trying Jenna Maclaine's Wages of Sin.
