Aske I just LOVEEEEE that series. One of my favs. Yes, Faithe angers me so much when it come to Marc. I just want to grab her and shake her!! AHHH. The series is fantastic though - enjoy!! :)
Yes.. my goal was to completely confuse you guys... and myself. I started out knowing what the heck I was talking about then somewhere along the way.. well you know ;-)
Judithe, why won't booksfree ship to you? :((( I'll have a firm talking with them if you want....
BTW thanks for the welcome back! Had a fantastic time!! It's hard to be off for a month though and then try to go back to reality... kinda sucks. So, now I'm trying to catch up with housework too and getting us all back on schedules. I spent the whole day yesterday cleaning and I plan to do some more today. Blah. That's certainly no fun.
Angi wrote: Judithe, why won't booksfree ship to you? :((( I'll have a firm talking with them if you want....Angi, it's probably cause Judithe is in Japan.
Yep. Rogue was for the wishlist shelf. As for Faythe in the Shifters series, I REALLY want to knock some sense into her. I've lost count on how many times I have yelled at the book when she messed up with Marc. At the end of the series I'm afraid I might be mute. But, I can't say I'm not enjoying reading each book.
Soooo understand!! There were so many times I was like WTH are you thinking?!? I was definitely team Marc the whole way and couldn't believe she was being so idiotic. Happy reading!! ;-)
Ahhh, about booksfree.... that makes sense. Thanks Steph! Judithe, I can still put in a firm word for you if you'd like ;-)
BTW as I am reading "Unholy Magic" I just have to say.. I'm not so far yet but this book is CREEPING me out. I LOVE a good ghost story and this definitely has that element to it. So needless to say, I'm definitely enjoying it thus far.....
Thanks for clarifying, Aske. =)Thanks to the new lending feature for Kindle & www.kindlelendingclub.com , I now have 2 books-
&
- I can use for this challenge instead of waiting for Archangel's Consort to come out.I'll count whichever one I finish first.
ngeAngi wrote: "Ahhh, about booksfree.... that makes sense. Thanks Steph! Judithe, I can still put in a firm word for you if you'd like ;-) ..."
VERY FIRM WORD, PLEASE!!! LOL...and the international (from their POV) address is the reason....I got a very nice e-mail from them when I asked...but it's still very frustrating for the library-challenged living outside the US...
They are really very good with customer service. I always get feedback from them, even when it doesn't require a response. They are good people .... but I do hope they are able to change that darn international rule! Have you looked into other book rental sites? Okay guys... finished "Unholy Magic" just now... I give it four stars and here is my review:
I liked this book better than the first in the sense that it was deeper... I was able to get to know more about the characters and their pasts... Especially Chess's. I have a difficult time liking her half the time though. I mean, I get why she takes all the drugs - she's trying to forget her awful past. But that she can't rise above that, and say, enough... even after everything she went through and everything that came about... WTH? I was really hoping somewhere in this book she would overcome her addiction. I am done feeling sorry for her if she can't help herself. The person I really feel sorry for though is Terrible. He seems like a really good guy and I'm not sure if Chess really does deserve him... I hope in the next book she can rise above the crap she gets herself into and her drug addiction. I want a happily ever after! Is that too much to ask for?
NOW I have a ton of booksfree on my shelf, but I got "Shadowfever" in the mail yesterday... YESTERDAY! Do you know how hard it was for me to finish my current book first?!?! I'm off to read "Shadowfever"!!! (oh yea, and feed the kids too.......)
LOL Ang! "and feed the kids too" :DHey, Rachel. Your link takes us to the main book page. Could you pull up your review and share a direct link? I'm interested in seeing what ya thought of it. :) Thanks!
Finished my book for Wishlist.Linger ★★★★☆ 1/20/11
I'm usually not a fan of emo YA crap like this. A lot of my friends read Shiver & hated it. Me? I cried like a little biatch. Which is why I was hesitant to read the 2nd book in this series. I was afraid I'd wake up & remember why I don't read crap like this. While I was frustrated sometimes, I didn't burn my K3. Because no book is that bad.
We've got Wolf Boy & Brainiac doing their "lovers in boonietown" thing but we also have the addition of two new POVs. Isabel, the rich bitch from Shiver & Cole, the new Wolf-Boy-in-Training. Isabel annoyed me but she had surprisingly sweet moments. I couldn't even wrap my head around Cole. He was hella psychotic & I couldn't wait for his chapters to end.
And the ending? Awww. It was so sad. I knew it was going to be sad because that Stiefvater's M.O. Just like I know a Megan Hart book is going to have an emotional & unconventional ending. It was like the cliffhanger from hell. How you gonna leave us like this, Stiefvater? What am I supposed to do with myself now that you've dropped this Emo bomb? Count my toes? I know! I'm going to go out into the snow & find me a wolf boy who will love me foreva & eva & write me crappy poems. Because I want what Grace & Sam have. Or had. Or will have. Or whatever. Dammit.
Rachel wrote: "Should be fixed now."Thanks. Short, but sweet, eh? LOL!
LethalLovely~Maybe We're a Bliss of Another Kind wrote: "BTW, we earned a stamp!!!"
I'll stamp ya later when I can spend some time at my computer. CONGRATS, Bingo Bookworms!
I'll go with the book I just finished listening to, Awakened by P.C. Cast & Kristin Cast, as my book for the wishlist shelf. I will make general comments since the book has only been out for a couple of weeks and everybody who wants to read it might not have had a chance to yet. I keep thinking this series is about done and then another book is released. The storyline has become more and more predictable as the series has progressed. I see that there are at least two more planned, with Destined being released in November of this year. I enjoyed this installment a little more than the last (Burned), but not by very much. Zoey returns from the Otherworld in this book and I was glad to see her back. The last book was lacking something without her being around so much. I think Stark is now my favorite character in this series. He returns to protecting Zoey no matter the cost as her warrior. I was wondering who was on the cover and was surprised when I found out it is supposed to be Rephaim. It will be intriguing to see what the future holds for him and Stevie Rae in the next book. The evil Neferet and Kalona were up to their usual antics in this book and it will also be interesting to find out what they have in store for the House of Night in the next book.
I went back and forth on whether to give this book 3 or 4 stars so I'm giving it 3.5 stars.
Finished 1/21
Good review, Amanda. I feel the same about this series. I have a serious like/hate relationship with it. I will continue with it, but wish I could stop most of the time. I'm also a fan of Stark. I also like the story between Rephaim and Stevie Rae.
CONGRATULATIONS, Bingo Bookworms! You now have an updated BINGO card with a stamp on 'wishlist'.
[Your new BINGO card can be viewed on page 1]
Good Job!! :D
Yeah to earning a stamp! :) Closer and closer.... ;-)Good review Amanda. I feel the same about HON books.... I intend to read the next one, I don't even remember what book I am on at this moment, 5th? 6th? But I am in no hurry. There are other books I want to read more and will eventually get around to reading them. I loved them at first and now I just feel kind of "eh" about them
:(
Lethal, good review of "Linger". I intend to read the first of this series. It sounds very intriguing.
P.S. I finished "Shadowfever"! AHHHH!
OUR NEXT SHELF IS ..... ''paranormal and urban fantasy' DIRECT LINK: 'paranormal and urban fantasy''
NOTE: Since all teams have received their 'wishlist' stamp, I am posting our next shelf early. Everyone can start reading as soon as they pick their book.
Poopoo, random.org! No chance of BINGO with this shelf, but it does put us even closer. Maybe next shelf!
Happy Reading, Everyone!!
I will be reading Spider's Bite by Jennifer Estep for this shelf. I still haven't found my copy of the book that suddenly got up and disappeared, but I can always get a copy from the library.

Finally got a chance to visit the library today. I'm going to read
for the Paranormal & Urban Fantasy shelf.
I finished Crimson Wind a few days ago for the Paranormal and Urban Fantasy shelf. I enjoyed this book even more than Bitter Night. The fast paced action made it such a page turner that I hardly ever put it down. Max and Alexander set off on a road trip to California to help Max's family that is in danger and thinks she has been dead for the last thirty years. On the way, they encounter the bedlam the Guardians have let loose and try to save people when they can. Max's toughness and loyalty to her Shadowblades is admirable. The sexual tension between Max and Alexander is at a fever pitch. Of course the ending had to be a cliffhanger! I can't wait for book 3 to find out what happens next!Finished 1/30
★★★★½
Thanks, Steph!Judith, I'm not far into it (page 40, I think) but right now I'm less than impressed. Hopefully it will get better. *crosses fingers*
"Magic Bites" is on my TBR pile also. I'm so far behind in my reading for booksfree- 5 books out with 2 more on the way blah. I'll get there!!!The tempest series is pretty good. It's interesting but I can put if down .. That's the problem. I really like the characters though. They are interesting. Have you read them Steph?
Hang with it, Lethal. It gets better with each book.I've got 1-3 here TBR, Ang. Looking forward to starting the series soon.
I swear that it's getting harder and harder to try to get to my computer after work without completely crashing of exhaustion. I finished Spider's Bite by Jennifer Estep today and I give it 2★. One thing I really didn't like about this book was the repetition. For example, Gin kept going back to her anger about the death of her mentor. I just got sick of it and thought "Yeah. Okay. We get it. You're pissed about it, but get on with the story" whenever those parts popped up. However this is one of those series I know that I will finish no matter what, so sort of looking forward to the next book.
Aske, the books get better and better as the series progresses. And Lethal she is definitely a stubborn bitch.
LOL! I didn't love that one either, Aske. But, due to many high recs and Miss Sandra's reassurances that it gets much better, I'll keep on with the series too.
Finished my book for Paranormal & Urban Fantasy.Magic Bites ★★★★☆ 2/5/11
I had a hard time getting into this novel initially. I couldn't stand Katy & it seemed like she had no redeeming qualities-unless you enjoy bitchy, annoying & abrasive heroines. Around page 150, MB started picking up. MB finally started going somewhere. Curran showed that he wasn't a complete douche. The gore, guts & creepiness made my heart flutter & my stomach clench. Yes, Katy took forever to figure out who the Big Bad was but hell, it shocked me too. He got his & everyone lived happily ever after minus a few decapitations. And the last scene with Curran, Derek & Katy? Nice. I'm definitely looking forward to reading the rest of this series now.
STAMP TIME! *Lethal drops it like it's hot*
Yes Lethal. She really is a bitch and I'll take your guy's word that it get better. I really hope it does. That along with Caine getting with the program and stop being a stik in the mud. Sometimes I just can't stand him.
Consider yourselves stamped - official update on its way. :) I'm hoping to update everyone's bingo cards w/their stamps soon.
